Dale Finucane

I wouldn’t sign Dale Finucane. Great player, plays tough but he doesn’t have the help at the Tigers. His age is the big issue we will suck for at least 3 years. He’s a leader and can improve our forwards in all areas but we’d have to have Tamou retire or get rid of some players.

I’d rather we bite the bullet now and blood Tuilagi, Tuki Simpkins in first grade for the rest of the year to see what we have. Twal, Tamou, Luciano, Garner are pretty much known quantities. We won’t gain anything for next year trying to win a few games to move up the ladder to 11th.

The issue is if we don’t get 2-3 bigger names we have no chance of building a serious quality squad unless its all juniors or punt players. And those juniors have no winning example to learn from.

Going after Dale, Cheese & TPJ of course doesn’t solve world hunger for us but he is a player others would look and go yeah I want to play beside him and talks with other players would become more legitimate. No serious player would look at Lucy, Garner, Seyfarth, Twal, Tamou and go yeah where can I sign.

Going after Sua is just like what we have done before but with a shoulder.

We lose it over a team like the Bulldogs who is spending money and getting some good players but then look at ourselves and go we have a war chest of money yet nabbed Hasting and Gildart……

We need to take pressure of the kids not just whack them in when we are getting thumped by 30-60, that helps no junior player ever all they learn is how to lose.

I agree with you but the veterans we need can’t cost us way too much. Finucane I could live with as I love him as a player and is ideal from a work ethic and leadership perspective and he’s a bonafide origin player. Concern is about the barrage he takes as a real warrior.

We just have to be careful I don’t want to be paying big money for mercenaries. Penrith had some senior players Tamou, Maloney etc to lead players.

We went for Tamou but unfortunately the game has moved way too fast for him and he’s done can’t help and it’s not his fault really.

Watched Hudson in lower grades at the Knights and really seen him develope.
The raiders have problems at the moment and I think a few of them are ripe for the picking.

Hudson has a better gas tank than Luciano.
He's a young, aggressive, hard running forward with good cardio... what's not to like?

As I've said in other posts, I saw Tapine this time last year around when Covid 19 was kicking off... his Mrs and her family are from my area, I believe
.. I asked him about the tigers and he said he'd be down.

I doubt he's coming back to the Knights but I'm sure he wouldn't be opposed to joining a Sydneh club. These are the discussions the club should be having.

I don't think so for a SOO quality player.. we have Packer on like 750k and he does nothing.. He would fit straight into the starting 13 for us and add the aggression we need... But oh well we are asleep at the wheel and expect people to come knocking our door down and not the other way around.

Finucane boasts an impressive career with Melbourne, playing in six grand finals and winning two premierships, many question why on earth a player of his calibre would even consider heading to Leichhardt during such a tough period.

Cameron Smith believes the answer is because the Storm captain could lead as the “perfect example” for the Tigers.

“Talking along the lines of the Tigers fans craving a guy to lead them, perfect example Dale Finucane,” said Smith on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“He is a man that lives and breathes rugby league,

“And is someone that you would just chuck into that system and go, 'Hey boys follow this man right now, do what he does every day and we’ll be on the right track'.”

Finucane is off contract at the end of the 2021 season and a move to the struggling Tigers may not be too far fetched.

I don't think so for a SOO quality player.. we have Packer on like 750k and he does nothing.. He would fit straight into the starting 13 for us and add the aggression we need... But oh well we are asleep at the wheel and expect people to come knocking our door down and not the other way around.
