Brett Morris killing it at 34yrs old. Nofa is in the same league. Not concerned about him running around at 31 yrs old. Club legend, good work Nofzilla.

Morris is in a different hemisphere to Nof and has been for the duration of their careers. Don't kid yourself

I watched Morris play park football in the Illawarra one day when he’d been dropped from NRL, point is all players have ups and downs in a career, Nof is at or near his prime and Morris is nearing the end.

Morris' highs are far higher than Nofoaluma will ever achieve. Even in the twilight of his career, Morris remains a superior player to Nofoaluma. Nofoaluma is a club level winger with significant defensive deficiencies.

That’s what makes the chooks so successful, they get the best players while at the same time manage their cap well. I believe Morris is on about the same as JAC was on at Storm, around $350k. I obviously have no idea what transpired between Nofa and Lee after a walk on the fairway and a fine dining experience, but it could have been worse all round. I think we are all grateful they didn’t go to the Abottoir Blues. It just wouldn’t look right having Dave run out with Souths without a jumper.

If it’s true that Nofa is asking $650k then he’s priced himself out of WT. I hope he gets picked up by eels and gets a combo going with Moses. I think we paid too much for Nofa ($450k) at a time when we had all our stars leaving and now it’s biting us on the gluteus because everyone with a sentimental soul , including Nofa, thinks he’s worth an upgrade. During the last 3 years when he was on $450k , Fox was on $350k. I still think his true value to WT is $325k plus a top up with vets and car of about $80k - $100k. You never no if you don’t ask? Someone was desperate enough to buy fox at $650k. It’s going to be very interesting to see how that unfolds?

it is scary to think JAC was on 350k and Nofo 450k
right time right place for Nofo when our stars left he stayed
Shouldn't be able to win lotto twice
Joey L can leave end of 2022 ? imagine nofo money for Stagg or Stephen crighton

Key word: imagine.

cash is a reality if we use it for 2022 one hell of a war chest
Packer and Nofo money on Stagg or Crighton and a depth player signing

I agree that we pay 450k at the most and really it's the appropriate amount for Nofo. But Staggs and Crichton are much younger than him and have already had somewhat comparable career best years. Wests Tigers are not signing them on 450-500k and we just don't have the TPAs to do anything else. You can imagine but it will never ever happen.

Packer and Nofo money should get us one of Crighton, Staggs

Can you be consistent. Paying overs for those 2 is ok?

Packer & Noffo salary combined is overs for both these players a year.

well quality players like Brandon Smith and crighton Staggs are good players and attract good players so yes it is worth paying a bit overs to them.
Paying our David any more money will not attract quality players it has not in the past.

You assume those 3 players even want to talk to us...

Even if they did none of them are worth $1.1+ a season.

We offered LM and JAC overs and they went to another club for less (based on reports).

Spot on mighty. Crying out loud, JAC is going to the dogs who are in a Rebuilding phase. 15th underbids us by 100k.... Wayne Bennett, sure. Trent Barrett, average 5/8 bottom end coach, I don't get this at all. Ok that's just my bafflement at the situation.

Back to topic, why is resigning our one specialist winger such a hard one? Hey let's sign two more centres for 1.1m because we only have 3 centres (BJ, MOMO, Roberts) on the books and another 2 players (Mbye, doulieni) that can cover center! But drop our one winger. Can someone recruit to what we need! Like a specialist Fullback or decent 2ndrower/forward

No one is suggesting to sign David on overs but you keep harping on about it.

SMH article says he's been training with JTJ as right side combination and is excited to pair up with him.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/wests-tigers-tie-down-fan-favourite-david-nofoaluma-until-2025-20210114-p56u21.html

"The Tigers lost Harry Grant, missed out on Josh Addo-Carr **and chased hard for Josh Mansour**, so Nofoaluma's prized signature is a huge morale boost."

Surely not. With Nofo staying, I am very glad we avoided this one.

There is no way WT 'chased hard' for Mansour and I'll tell you why.

They didn't have to and they didn't want him!

I don't believe a thing from journo's anymore, they get caught out sprouting complete BS and this is one time.

Another time is when....You guessed it, James Hooper is quoted in his Fox article dated late on the 11 January - THREE DAYS AGO - That WT had a huge fight on their hands as Souths entered the race..."*With Corey Allan switching from South Sydney to Canterbury-Bankstown effective immediately as of Monday, the Bunnies are now eyeing off making a play to lure the Wests Tigers winger for next season."*

So, a day later at most - he is signing a contract in the offices of WT and then the following day it's officially announced.

So it was either a lie, or his sources are crap. Either way.......

It just proves that 99% of journalists give the rest a bad name. Hooper should be closer than most to WT, and Channel 9 (Weidler?) also ran with the same story. These are the same journo's some choose to believe as gospel when they mention his salary as $600k etc.

I'm glad he is staying personally and I trust the club around the contract. He is one that is worth giving some extra term to because of his club and community presence.

There are wingers still playing at age 31 and over. Anthony Donn, Jordan Rapana, Brett Morris.. That’s all I could find but there have been old wingers in the past. The knights had McDougal , played until he was 36 I think? But he was a real health fanatic, made his own smoothies.

He turns 28 in November this year.
2022 he'll be 28.
2023 he'll be 29.
2024 he'll be 30.
2025 he'll be 31.

He is in his prime right now. He will probably have two more years of this and then taper off. As long as he looks after himself that taper might not be that bad. And his contract isn't going to be toxic come 2025. By then the salary cap will probably be way higher.

Nofa will turn 32 in 2025.

As his birthday is in November - he will still be 31 at the end of t he season.

TRY causes stat gets brought up in relation to singling out players..individually...

When you look at it from a team and number of games interestingly can give you a better perspective..

For example Melbourne Storm conceded 53 TRYs in the season of which TRY causes attributed to the back 3 were 34 or 64% of TRIES scored against, Rorters had 55 of which 37 or 67% against WESTS Tigers had 98 of which 49 or 50% attributed to the back 3..

Also makes it easier for the opposition goal kickers when 50% of TRIES conceded are through the middle third converting 4 points into 6..

That stat looks at the back 3 as a group, but our right side is the main offender when it comes to try causes. Agree that we are also weak up the middle though!

Parra wising up to why Ferguson and esp Waqa Blake were let go. What a horrendous f/a try ratio for a finals side edge defence.

I actually maintain that the one or two inside these worst defensive pairings isn't helping their cause. Its the same at the eels and Cowboys. Cant blame these outside backs exclusively.

And the best defensive pairings just happen to have some of the best back row defenders inside them.

Coincidence - I think not.
