1)Our squad has no specialist wingers apart from Nofo-were comsistently trying to manufacture centres into wingers,so if AK doesnt kmake it youll see Talau of Momo...or Cini.Truth is theyre not fast enuff.Mansour wld be as quick as Nofo, better defender but not quite as good as tackle breaker. He cld be useful subject to fitmess
2)JAC aint coming..were dreaming..and theres nobody else worth chasing apart from Garret whom we shld have leveraged Aloi for..history
3)Theres a 50/50 chance Nofo (already overpaid at $450 given his defensive issues)will join Eeels...knowing we have few options, were at his mercy.A 2 yr Mansour contract is a lot like the Morris Bros plugging a gap
4)Our backs, despite reshuffled deckchairs, are the same ones that sstruggled to score in 2020 despite Benjis 22 try assists.Mansour provides some improvement
So all things considered...Mansour adds value for 2 years on any other option we may have
I have a differing opinion.
1) I dont believe it's 50/50 that Nofo is gone at all.
2) I understand the link between a stop gap 2 year contract 'just like the Morris boys' - but Mansour is not even close to that league, which makes any stop gap arrangement with Mansour questionable.
3) Penrith were very keen to move Mansour on. So much so that I understand they have been trying to do so for at least 12 months because his defence is very suspect and he just doesn't fit in. That's and insiders comment from the Panthers, not mine.
I actually like Mansour for his personality and what he might bring in that regard. As a player, his best days were 5 years ago. If I could get him at minimum wage with the promise that you might not play 1st grade all year barring injuries, I'd think about it. But he doesn't want to do that and he has publicly stated that.
I honestly think we would be better served paying Chris Lawrence (not as a player) the $100K to be the mature voice and trainer/coach/encourager of those outside backs.
I'd pass on Mansour, sorry.
I don’t think we can rely on class wingers getting us into the 8 (or 4). Surely having a pair of reliable wingers that allows us to invest more in the spine/backrow to create opportunities out wide is a more productive way to spend our cap. We have committed to Laurie (3yr deal from 22) so let’s just bring both to the club early and if Mansour gets out competed for the wing spot so be it but I got one don’t want to be waiting another year or two to get some success. On a good deal (2 years with Penrith contributing) its extremely low risk
But he wants a guaranteed first grade spot, the whole reason he is looking around. He has a contract at Penrith who have told him he will be playing reggies. Why would he come here to do the same thing?

“I am still contracted [to the Panthers], but I don’t think I am a reserve-grade player. I think I am good enough to play first grade at Penrith.‘I know I have plenty left in me and I think I can be at the top for at least another three years.” - Josh Mansour
