How can possible recruits be beasts if they haven't played an NRL game ...or even shone at CC level ....a lot of posters set themselves up for disappointment

Who are you talking about ? Re. Which player ? If it’s Simpkins , I don’t know if he’s a beast or not , I just know he’s a top tier junior . He’d be a 5 star recruit using other sports terminology. Whether that means he can make the step up I don’t know . For me that’s what it’s about . Recruit as many 5 star kids As you can get .

Fitzgibbon .....I'm not knocking Fitzgibbon ...but these young kids coming through don't need the pressure either

Lol . Jesus who was saying that ? He could be anything from all reports , but he also could be just really fast with a good beach bod. Let’s relax on that kid guys. I know he played well in the Koori cup , but that’s hardly anywhere near elite.

Ch7 reporting Souffs have made an offer to Nofo Sunrise this morning

We missed JAC a state and international rep player and in the past we have lost teddy
We will survive if we lose David to souths
Do not pay overs

I completely agree. We have to have clear guidelines on what we will pay players. We cannot continue to pay overs.

We let our best forward go and we will be fine. If we lose Nofo we will be fine. If we overpay these guys we will end up a mess again.

If the wabbits want Nofo I'd take Jaxson Paulo off their hands.

Just as long as we don’t get Robert Jennings 2.0 — Alex Johnston...

You're kidding right? Johnston is very good winger. Nothing like Jennings

Don’t rate Johnston at all. Doesn’t have any attributes but a catch and put down game, just like Jenno

Sorry but that's not true at all. Compare this video to Jennings one

https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2020/12/21/all-of-alex-johnstons-2020-tries/

Bar a few intercept tries, pretty much all of them were catching the ball from a few metres out and putting it down. Reminds me a lot of Robert Jennings the season before he joined us (2018). Easy to score points when you’re playing outside the likes of Walker, Reynolds, Cook, Murray etc. Think he’d struggle at a low end team

No they weren't, go and watch it again. Jennings wouldn't have scored half those tries.

https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiy6cvF-4ruAhWtzTgGHcpwCIsQuAIwAHoECAYQBQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nrl.com%2Fnews%2F2018%2F10%2F15%2Fall-of-robert-jennings-tries-from-2018%2F&usg=AOvVaw1k84NMlh-FV8S0vyJW1Cf_

You literally just proved my point.

Jennings was bog average man . I know you agree . Anybody implying that Johnston is as bad is way off the mark . Johnston was the only good thing about Souths to start the year last year. Before all their stars got their act together .He’s supremely Underrated .

Jennings is terrible. Johnston is a very good winger.

Can't disagree with that, but every time I think of him it brings a smile to my face because I think of that KAPOW palm that nearly removed his head.

Nofa is heading into most likely his last contract which he said himself so I understand why it’s dragging on. Probably weighing up his offers to see what’s best for him. We’ve offered around $500k a season for 4 years and I honestly don’t see Souths matching that offer. However when you’re a club like Souths salary cap doesn’t matter. Funnelling money through 3rd parties is so common

This isn't entirely true. Tedesco hasn't been paid some of his 3rd party deals. It happens all the time as well.

I think 4 years for 500k per season is overs for Nofo. I'd prefer him to go on those terms. I can handle 500k but for 2 years.

I'm guessing your talking his Roosters TPA's

And if we were talking of Bwaiff he should of paid back his TPA's for wasting their time , effort and money

That was simply Karma

No great loss if he goes, the $500k could be better spent imo.

But top line players are off us Avo, losing Nofa is just another example if it happens. no use having a truck load of money/space when your image with the best players is mud.

I think we've recruited quite well and we have a focus on quality juniors. I think paying $500k for 4 years for Nofo is bad business.

And I thought the club was over paying stupid money and being dictated by players obviously I was wrong, if they pay 500 k for a speed hump someone needs to be shown the door!

spot on 500k for a speed hump

Rumour has it we paid nearly a mill for Mbye, Packer and Reynolds, was door shown?

so why make the same mistake again and sign Nofo for 500k overs

Those blokes were nuffies.

our fella was dally m winger of the year and 2nd or 3rd in tackle busts. Also had 7 try assists. He ain’t perfect but he’s a good player.

In saying that 500K is probably slightly overs, but sometimes you need to pay overs to secure talent.

keep your overs for players like Brandon Smith or Angus Chrichton or Stephen Crighton not David Nofoaluma

I don't believe Nofa leaving would be a sign top line players are off us. It would be a sign he thought he was worth more than the club was willing to pay.

One good thing about Nofa potentially leaving is that finally a lot of you would realise just how important he is to our team.

I just can't see him leaving. Definitely hoping he stays.

Definitely hoping he stays, we have limited strike power as it is. Imagine without him. Plus he seems to be the heart of the club. Love his passion.

That is not why Nofa would be leaving though, he actually has an overinflated belief in his ability. He believes he is worth more than we are offering and also is of the the belief he should have made the SOO team based on his form.

I think souffs might be a bit too tempting for Nofa, unfortunately think he may go

My understanding, as I’ve posted before, is there is an element of frustration from Nofa. He wants to play finals so is keen to make a contract decision that will ease that frustration. Souths seems like a plausible destination. Hope he stays but am happy with club putting a ceiling on his worth.
