I'm happy to have Nofo locked up for the long-term. He plays a big role in our culture and it's important to reciprocate that in his contract, especially given our handling of previous players in the past.

Doubt he over ruled anybody.

Just has a bigger mouth!

Both centres have been training on both sides, same as the second rowers. Will be interesting to see what changes there are

The idea could be to split the speed up both sides...have JTJ down one and someone like AJ/Fitzgibbon down the other. Madge may want speed no matter which side of the field if there is a break.

Not unusual for us to not publicise a club option from the official announcement. It's like announcing the re-signing but saying you don't have confidence they'll still be as good at the end of the contract.
We didn't announce BJs club option at the time. We didn't even ever announce Momo's contract.
It's about saving face. I'd be gobsmacked if we caved into Nofs demands, especially right after a club interested in him went with someone else. A club option makes sense. A 4 year deal would he massive overkill and totally unwarranted. When was the last time any 4 year contract worked out well for us?? Very very few players in the league warrant four year deals or longer. Nofs not one of them.
But 3 years plus one, at 450k or under is acceptable

Yes to a lot of this but we need to earn the right as a club to dictate terms.

Brett Morris killing it at 34yrs old. Nofa is in the same league. Not concerned about him running around at 31 yrs old. Club legend, good work Nofzilla.

"The Tigers lost Harry Grant, missed out on Josh Addo-Carr **and chased hard for Josh Mansour**, so Nofoaluma's prized signature is a huge morale boost."

Surely not. With Nofo staying, I am very glad we avoided this one.

This is honestly gutter journalism... Nofo has enough brains to know we released Harry back to Melbourne at the completion of his loan deal, not lost, and we didn’t even miss Addo-Carr; his manager just butchered the negotiations

The last one well I rest my case, since when is keeping your options open pertaining to the outcome of re-signing one of our key players *chasing hard*

What a joke...

Yes that was quite a contract for Hoffa.
I think they're still looking for Jimmy Hoffa's body.

There are wingers still playing at age 31 and over. Anthony Donn, Jordan Rapana, Brett Morris.. That’s all I could find but there have been old wingers in the past. The knights had McDougal , played until he was 36 I think? But he was a real health fanatic, made his own smoothies.

He turns 28 in November this year.
2022 he'll be 28.
2023 he'll be 29.
2024 he'll be 30.
2025 he'll be 31.

He is in his prime right now. He will probably have two more years of this and then taper off. As long as he looks after himself that taper might not be that bad. And his contract isn't going to be toxic come 2025. By then the salary cap will probably be way higher.

Nofa will turn 32 in 2025.

Surely you’re not comparing Nofa with Brett Morris. Brett Morris reads the play and defends strongly, is also good under the ball.

Nofa will turn 32 in 2025.

I think the point he is trying to make is that Nofo will be 31 during the 2025 season and doesn't turn 32 until November when that season is actually finished.

Oh I see, so technically he will be 27 and 10 months. I think the point is that people age by the day, not by the year. ?

Morris is in a different hemisphere to Nof and has been for the duration of their careers. Don't kid yourself

Yes, technically speaking he will be 32 in 2025 but not until the season is over and that contract is completed.

Why, what were Hartigan and Maguire's desired lengths of the contract?

Media reports stated the club and Nofo couldn't agree on the length of contract with 3 years initially offered before he accepted this 4 year contract.

So, was it up to Lee to break the deadlock?

That's my take on it given how long the negotiations were drawn out for, the stumbling blocks , and Lee's comments on Nofo

And yes it was announced the day after Mansour to Souffs? I think they were all intertwined.
