Dean Collis

We have to realise that Wakefield are on extremely shakey ground, coming last, not much support and now have Brian Smith as head coach, Smith is on a hiding to nothing and Collis leaving is a case of someone leaving a sinking ship.
Later on in the ESL season they are going to have the bottom 4 ESL clubs play the top 4 Championship clubs for promotion and relegation (Super 8's) and unless Smith can coax a few ESL players to join on loan and gain some desperate Aussies they are doomed to go down a Division.
Sad to see it happen to one of the oldest clubs in the game but it's not about sentimentality these days it's all big business and unless you have a benefactor you can't compete, it will be interesting to see if Dean does indeed link up with a club on his return, it could work out well for him like Shannon McDonnell did!.

I've always been a big fan of DC. Was sorry when he left Tigers. Hopefully he can get a start again somewhere. Injury certainly stopped him playing many more games for the Tigers.

Without trying to sound too harsh I'd rather be raped by a pack of syphilitic grizzly bears than see Dean Collis anywhere near our NRL side

Loved him in 2006 and 2007\. Absolute gun. Was tipped to be a NSW centre by many people. At one stage it looked like the Tigers had the future NSW centre pairing in Rowdy and Collis. How wrong that turned out to be. Injury hurt him at the start of his career and then again after his purple patch of 06 and 07.

I didnt realise he was still playing, he'd have to be 30ish by now, he had a few years on Rowdy. Id take him as a depth player. If he has been playing in the superleague he has probably racked up about 200 games by now over a 13 year career. With Rowdys move to the second row now a lock in, its massive experience we lack in such a young team if one of the fellas in the backline went down. Id rather a 200 game veteran in a class above Lulia covering the centres as a back up rather then Hoeter at the moment.

Lol thanks for the vision you put into my head at 6 30am i dont think i have laughed that much for quite a while

NSW Cup is 100% a Development Playground for the Wests Tigers. Anyone over 25 should be released to ensure enough coin to extend potential talent if a threat arises from other clubs.

If they are good enough to play NRL today, then maybe sign them, but its a big NO to anyone over 25 from a depth perspective in Reserve Grade.

Normal weekend for you then….

He was better than Blake Ayshford but thats where my assessment stops.

I know Halatau and Richards are back but i dont want to see any of the older team members back.
Their best is behind them.

He's turning 30 this year, and he suffered the same fate Ayshord, Gibbs, Heighington, and Morris - Went to Cronulla to kick on, and pretty much bottomed out - as others have alluded to he's probably a little old for NSW Cup, and will only be keeping another up and comer out of the team if he plays there - Having said that Moltzen is soaking up space there right now too, and journeyman plodder Jarred Farlow is set to return to the squad as well.

Would have been very interesting if he'd stayed at the tigers - We'd never have seen the rise of Tim Simona, and we'd probably be crowing about how our "seasoned" back row star Ayshford has been putting in hard yards, since his shift from centre years ago.

Are we taking ,animal Bears or that sub group in the gay community? Either way it's a bit extreme.
Id have Dean in SC if it meant Happy didn't have to go through that.

Totally agree.

Original smartarse comment aside, I had completely forgotten about Dean.

Looked to be ready to go to that next level, won a City jersey and just never kicked on.

I wouldn't take him back at 30\. He's probably not NRL standard (haven't watched much of Wakefield in the ESL though,) and he's far too old to be running around in reggies. Will be interesting to see if he signs up somewhere though. Parra perhaps?

Probably a don't need him as depth when there's all these kids coming through from the 20's.
Like others have said its a shame he never kicked on - another one to have been cursed by injuries at WT over the years. Imagine what we might be talking about now if these guys didn't get injured - Collis, Lawrence, Tuiaki, Dwyer. Might be a few more I've forgotten

Still remember him scoring a hatty at cambo to get us home against the knights.
Also seem to remember him kicking them from everywhere in one or 2 games.

Kid had talent, Why he never kicked on is anyones guess…

He's also a top fella... He'll get a gig somewhere.

I'm surprised he's still playing.

Though he would have retired ages ago. Sign a 31 year old fringe player? Geez no. Never did anything in his prime. Now, he'd be a mile behind our NYC players.
