Do you enjoy Rugby League?

I think the game has gone to poo and only watch it because of the love for the Tigers.

The over complicated rules, tragic refereeing and blatant bias towards teams who are expected to win has me hating the game.

No doubt I'll turn up next week to watch. ..but I'm honestly not sure how much longer I can put up with the NRL.

I have already started to try and convince my kids to play something else and I think that is very significant.

I have been critical of a few of your posts in recent times but this is exactly how I feel. I reckon you address all the issues that are driving me away from league. With the possible exception of our apparent game plan for each match - hit it up for five and put up a bomb. If that is the 'structure' Taylor has been working on since Parramatta days then leave me out of it.

Agree with just about all of this. Reduction of interchange, wrestling, two refs and a fair dinkum review of salary cap bs would go a long way to getting the game to where it should be.
Five hit ups and the bomb sound just like SOO to me.
Boring, boring.

I love watching the skill and athleticism of many of the players these days, some of the tries that are scored leave me awestruck. However, the ridiculous new rule interpretations and the inconsistencies in applying them; the continual stoppages of play; the increasingly inept video refs, who seriously must be watching the game wearing blindfolds and the soft penalties given for what is often simply a perfectly good hit, has absolutely spoiled the game as an overall spectacle for me.

Its good we are competitive most weeks

As an old Westie we were rarely competitive

No matter which way we seem to turn as a club it seems the wrong direction

Happy switch on before I slap u haha

I'm talking about the game not the Tigers. Forget that we are competitive, even imagine we are undefeated.m.do u enjoy this crap?

Yeh its a tough sport to watch these days. There aren't too many sports where those officiating have such an influence on the outcome. Not blaming the refs but simply the way the game is being run. I wish they would go back to properly reffing the game. Both sides were offside all game yet no offside penalty.

Blow that whistle refs. I am sick of this 8 metres defensive grind game we have now.

Administration makes it hard to follow it these days. I still love the team but as a neutral I'm caring less.

Maybe that's something to do with the NBA. I've been a Warriors fan for a long time and they're finally good! That is awesome, and it's something that gives me hope that the Tigers can do the same.

But then, I follow the Raiders in the NFL, and they're a complete basketcase. Though I do love draft day! Yet I still have interest in the game because for the most part it's run professionally, bar some questionable things.

Basically, the NRL has a lot of work to do to show that they are professional enough to last in the future. We still have the laughable round 13 rule, the most inconsistent refereeing I've seen, non-clear salary cap rules, Origin period ruining a quarter of the season for clubs and it goes on and on. I really love the game, but the rule changes aren't helping either by promoting rigid, structured football that just isn't as engaging.

Every sport has changed the last 30 years

We didn't get to see many things in the day as the cameras and shots weren't as good

Some things I like about todays game some I don't

The refs have got things wrong since 1908 , we just see so much more now

We lost that game today KS , not the refs , not Newcastle

Forget structure , forget being bored , forget the new coach

When the game was on the line , we screwed the pooch majorly

Get over it KS , if this is the worse thing that happens today , you've had a good day :brick:

There are a lot of things i could complain about but this one is the thing turning me off the most. Its not just a Tigers thing its in most games.

Timeline wise the lack of interest dates back to the formation of the new independent commission and the removal of David Gallop. It's no longer a level playing field.

Ha. David gallop.

Yep people used to bag Gallop , look how the A league is coming on in leaps and bounds .
Dave Smith and his cronies haven't got a friggin clue !!!

_Posted using RoarFEED 4.2.0_

so get back gallop who did nothing for the NRL, meanwhile this new commission has literally doubled revenue in a few years, set aside hundreds of millions in a future fund, secured a billion dollars for rectangle stadia in sydney and is effectively negotiating a $2 billion TV deal for 2018

and gallop has done what for the a league??? they were 'coming in leaps and bounds' well before he got there, he's just continuing that trend. good on him for not screwing it up

Soccer crowds are going backwards . Only gallop and his news limited mates think it's going forward. 30k for a grand final. How impressive. Add to that salary cap rorting, terrible crowd behavior and clubs going broke.

I love the game… It is definitely frustrating from time to time, but I will always be a big supporter/contributor of the game from juniors to the Kangaroos.

Personally, its time to put the rules through the shredder and re-write them in a simpler format. I hate interpretation, and I simply want as black and white as it can be.

Technology? Well, it is there and while we have the TV networks paying the bills, I guess they will have the biggest influence.

Sadly I no longer enjoy the game as I once did. Now I tend to just bother with Wests Tigers games and no longer bother to watch any other games.
In years gone by I would never dream of missing a representative game but now I dont really care.
I have grown tired of teams being picked on past form not current form.
Andrew Johns being made an Immortal after admitting to drugs use disgusted me.
The general attitude of the League & commentators (ex players) to over paid brats behaving badly, "oh boys will be boys" has sometimes left me wondering why I follow it at all.
I have watched football all my life and I will watch the Tigers forever, but yes my love of the overall game has diminished.
The only sure cure for this is another Wests Tigers premiership ! Please

I'm lost Ink

I'm saying the same things have been occurring 1908

They are just more easily noticed due to modern technology

I miss playing this game every day of my life .

Does that cover it ??

Warts and all I love this game

Throwing a tanty because the refs make a few bad calls , won't change anything

That is a pretty telling post. Someone who has more than 17,000 posts on a fan forum.

@Happy Tiger

U saying I'm throwing a tanty cos of today's game? I guess the timing of my post suggest it has contributed to it and Yeh I guess it has contributed to it. But like INK said there is much more to it and get your head out the sand so u can see it

This game showcased some of the problems, but it extends far past it. Even when we sucked between 2006-2009 I had much more interest in the NRL, but the bad things just stayed bad and piled on and haven't been fixed, so here we are.

Maybe you should pull yours out of somewhere else and notice that the best team every season seem to win the premiership

Funny how that seems to work out , hey

Don't you think ??

Or am I a bloody fool or trolling ??

Stop making excuses for our side and the game , the better side won as it does on most occasions

The game has created its own monster. The video referee
The laborious process involved in making a decision about whether try is a try is so frustrating. Even then, the decision made can be a puzzling one.
Commentators insisted the game had to have a video review system and they got one.
There were howlers by referees before video refs but I think I prefer the game before all this technical jumbo jumbo.
In a league soccer referees make bad decisions ,the players have a [This word has been automatically removed],and the refs blow play on.end of discussion.
I like that finality.
The predictability of general play is dull as ditchwater.the structure of play doesn't allow for a phil Blake or Benji to shine.
Been watching the game since the early 60's and find watching the game frustrating .

If Wests we're going better of course,I'd temper my opinion.
I will always be a loyal supporter but I think the game has been Disadvantaged by the video ref and the emphasis on modern structured play.

The game we watch these days isn't rugby league. It is a bastardized version on some weird tangent.

The U/20's competition is a disgusting joke that makes me so angry I could puke. It is essentially Oztag. This is where the future of the game is heading. No room for tough guys who intimidate and belt their opposites, no room for footballers prepared to go off script and play what is in front of them. No room for defensive titans who get nicknames like 'cement'….Just a bunch of pretty boy athletes with units like competitive body builders who do what they are told to do when they are told to do it and forwards built like superman who can't hack more than 25 minutes with out a rest...

The administration, the promotion, the interpretation of rules, the favoritism, the nepotism, the politics....

A monster has been created and its an ugly bastard. I'll never leave the game but it is getting harder and harder to defend it to rival footy code fans who are unanimous in their appraisal...Rugby League is boring.
