**Elijah Taylor shattered by alleged manager scam that cost him more than $350,000**

Former Kiwi Test forward Elijah Taylor has been left devastated after being allegedly scammed of more than $350,000 by his former manager.

Taylor, who played with Wests Tigers last season before being released, took his ex-manager Ian Miles to a civil court in Christchurch and won the case.

He was awarded $484,824 in damages and costs.

But he is unlikely to see a penny of it as Miles, who managed his financial affairs for more than four years, has declared himself bankrupt.

"Elijah is shattered as Ian was a close friend and someone he trusted with his money," a source close to Taylor said.

"He doesn't know what to do next and is considering police action.

"It is a cautionary tale to all young players - keep an eye on your money and make sure whoever is looking after it is doing the right thing by you."

Taylor is currently without a club for next season but has been training with Blacktown Workers - Manly's feeder club. He is expected to sign to go to England to continue his career in 2021

Geez, the poor bugger. Work your ass off in such a physical game and have some 'manager' skim your money off you. And, worst of all a supposed friend.

I really do wish him well and good luck- especially now.

Wow, that is terrible to hear, poor bloke! and the grub gets away with it by declaring bankruptcy 🙁
Hopefully he gets a decent contract in England, he's earned it. Sign him up Hodgo!

That sucks. Footy players need to realize these managers are scammers. The whole financial services industry can scam you.

What a dog. ET is one of the good guys of the game. Would care far less if it were Moses.

Maybe Elijah should organise one of his own contracts? With Manly I mean.

Nice guys always seem like the ones who get done in by scammers. The scammers are always the ones who have no conscience at all and often get away with the loot due to some legal quirk they purposely use.

Scammers like that, who get done and then get out of it by declaring bankruptcy should see the inside of a prison cell.

Sell his property to pay back or carry a lifetime of debt so he can never get credit again
This bloke should never get to own anything of value again until his debt is paid in full
He should also have any future income taxed at a very high rate until he has paid his debt
I have been ripped off in business a number of times and I can't stand it
Even by a good Friend at the time
The laws are piss weak
Assets should be seized easily and legally to pay debts
It is to costly and time consuming to chase small debts
In Elijah's case, go all out and chase it

Didn't Willie Mason also get scammed out of all his savings?

So if the NRL accredits these agents, should they force them to pay a bond to cover these events?

Players should consider handling their own affairs. Save themselves a lot of money and would make them grow up a lot faster.
