Farah Set To Miss Blues No 9 To Dean Young

There is a report in this weeks RLW on page 8 titled " Blues Shock" saying that Farah is going to miss out on the blues hooking job to Dean Young.

It says Stuart likes the way Young plays and that the blues were going back to basics and beat Queensland with agreesive play up front rather than finesse.

What does everyone think. I think it's a joke. Well that is stuart for you. Me thinks another series win to Queensland coming up.

That's a joke if true. The season hasn't even started yet so anything could happen between now and SOO. We've seen Lawrence and Galloway right in contention leading up to Origin only to get injured just before it. NSW problem has been a lack of creativity at dummyhalf. Choose Young or Ennis and they're well on the way to getting beaten again IMO.

Honestly, I'm not all that surprised - Robbie still has the stigma of those really bad S-O-O appearances to battle with.

He had poor games, Let's be factual here.

Non Tiger fans I talk with constantly say that he had his chance and he wasn't just quiet he looked overwhelmed"

I hope he is tackling more and running more to the point where he earns the call up to redeem himself.

Nothing but speculation at this stage. Who knows how each player's form will be heading into the origin series, or if there are key injuries etc. One thing not in Farah's favour though is the Blues love obsession with Gidley. Young would be an ideal player to interchange with Gidley, who seems to be an obligatory selection ever since he was made captain (god knows why).
At the end of the day though, as long as Ennis isn't in the team I'm happy.

Must have need a puff piece to fill up an empty page.

They're just pushing the barrow for the premiership players. Dean Young is on par with Ennis.

Farah, De Gois and in that order…

Oh well, it would be good for us again come Origin time having the best number 9 in the comp still on the park!

I thought Gidley killed it in the number 9 when he came on. To me, he's the only other viable option besides Robbie.

I agree with others, as long as it's not 10 minute Ennis!

Hmm 2nd in the daly m player last year and they won't pick him! It's too early to be saying this, if Ricky has picked his team already then he has no idea!

agree fainty, farah is all class how often is he in the running for daly m????

im so over NSW and all its selections, its going to be so difficult to muster the energy to support the team they put up this year. QLD have such an awesome group that NSW could have started 2/3 years ago aswell.

Hope they get some tigers in there for once!!!

Stuart is a dead set imbo if he is releasing this sort of news before the comp has even started….Robbie has to be there as should Chrissy L.

If form doesnt dictate selections then its gonna be another seies for the mighty northerners.....

try & beat QLD with agressive play ?

:wtf

… what have they been doing the last 4 years.....i would even go ennis over young.
BUT they still have to earn their call up, so robbie better work his backside off.

A tactic that has worked so good the last four years that they're going to do it again. :deadhorse:

Selecting Young would be about as good as picking Beau Scott in the centres to "nullify" Inglis.

These clowns truly have NFI.

Hey now, Beau Scott is a DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST. Don't go be rubbishing conservative band-aid style selections.

Dean Young is too easy to get riled up, and he'll give away cheap penalties. Cameron Smith will be laughing his way into another Test Jumper after the SOO series.

Yep, Id prefer Young over Ennis any day. I do think Farah deserves a shot to redeem himself though. Young playing with the current premiers and under Bennett certainly helps his cause :frowning:

Robbie > Young/Ennis/anybody! :brick:

Dean Young's dad in the NSW management team can't be hurting his cause either!!!

Stop laughing Watto!

Iam more worried about Stickys game plan "go back to basics, aggressive forward play". It did not work for the Sharks, they got out skilled every week and thats how you beat the Cane Toads out skill them and play smart. Okay you need a strong forward pack, but in your key positions you need very smart skillful players

General Melchett: Field Marshal Haig has formulated a brilliant new tactical plan to ensure final victory in the field.
Captain Blackadder: Ah. Would this brilliant plan involve us climbing out of our trenches and walking very slowly towards the enemy?
Captain Darling: How could you possibly know that, Blackadder? It's classified information!
Captain Blackadder: It's the same plan that we used last time and the seventeen times before that.
General Melchett: Exactly! And that is what is so brilliant about it! It will catch the watchful Hun totally off guard! Doing precisely what we've done eighteen times before is exactly the last thing they'll expect us to do this time! There is, however, one small problem.
Captain Blackadder: That everyone always gets slaughtered in the first ten seconds?

It seems the NSW selection strategy is set to remain at picking players who won't lose you the game because they are solid. Sure they won't win you a game but lets not discuss that
