St George Illawarra are poised to ramp up the chase for Robbie Farah - and re-sign Benji Marshall - after missing out on Jarryd Hayne.

Hmmm, not all that long ago a spine containing Marshall, Widdop & Farah would have been awesome - not so much these days, sadly.

Chuck Dugan in there aswell.

Yeah I'm not sure where Dooges is at these days. I think he still has plenty of talent, but he's rarely on the field long enough to know!

I dont mind him personally, another one troubled as a youngster who has changed his life for the better

He made mistakes whilst a Raider but since then has got his head screwed in the right way., unlike many who never learn

I am not a Taylor lover or hater, but surely he has the right to pick the team he thinks gives us the best chance of winning, irrespective of how much service the player that gets dropped has provided. We may or may not agree that Farah's form warranted demotion but I can only believe that Taylor has done this as he thinks it is in the best interest of the club.

There is talk that he will take up $600K playing for another club, but at the moment he costs $950K out of our cap and he is not in the coaches plans. Isn't that a worse scenario for all involved?

I would have liked to have seen him plays is 250th at Leichhardt, I am sentimental about those sort of things, but at the end of the day it is Taylor that will live or die by this decision. Farah gets his money no matter what, it is Taylor that has everything to lose.

Just to top it off for me:

- It's a tragedy it's ended like this. Farah should never have ended this way with Wests;
- The club did try to work with him, no doubt to save him face, before "someone" (read: his management) leaked to the media;
- Some bloody idiot at the club made the reserve grade threat;
- Farah went the power play believing he'd get the leg up over Taylor;
- Given that JT had to apologise, some concession had been made for Farah;
- After threatening that he'd be selected from reserve grade, the club foolishly played Farah, prolonging the saga;
- The club has finally decided to bring it to a head, back the coach, Farah goes on to slate the club and JT, torpedoing any chance he had of getting to 250 games here, and destabilising the season for his team mates.

Both sides have something to answer for here, but Farah's arrogance has ultimately sealed his fate. It's been reported for a while that Lawrence has been up for offer and has silently continued to play on at the club. Rather than slate all and sundry he went head down, arse up and got to the point he has furthered his stay.

It is shame he'll leave this way. It should have been handled better from both sides. I will not forget how it got out, his self service bit him on the arse and for mine he was happy to drive a club he loves to the wall in order to vindicate himself. Had he just got on with it, he'd have got my undying support.

I wish i could have put it this well. This is exactly how i feel.

I thought what may have brought it to a climax was Robbie's interview at time of SOO about never forgetting. After Taylor publically apologised Robbie should have shut up in public.

Well said CB… We have to remember it was his manager that leaked this to the press last year

Well put however its hard to compare Lawrence to Farah.

For one Taylor has never dropped Lawrence. Taylor has never demoted Lawrence. Taylor never threatened to play Lawrence in reserves if he were to stay.

Lawrence has missed a lot of football and has not played Origin the last 5 years.

There are a lot of differences there.

Im doubting doubting Chris, he seems like a top bloke and a great professional. I do think him and Farah are a long way apart personality wise.

However comparing the 2 might look neat and tidy in your post however I think its a stretch.

It's unlikely to have helped. There was nothing to be gained from poking the bear like that.

Without any of us really knowing the ins and outs of the whole drama, or personally knowing any of the people involved, CB's summation is probably as close to the mark as we're ever gonna get as supporters on the outside looking in. Like you said mate, it's a tragedy it had to end this way.

The thing I don't like is quite a few seem to be salivating at Farah's downfall. Like him or not I don't think there has been enough respect from the club or certain fans on here.

They call him names, they lambast him at every opportunity.

The guy has played 247 fro our club and played Origin and tests and won a comp.

I just find it ordinary and baffling.

I respect the guys who offer constrictive criticisms of Farah but for mine its been far too childish and spiteful from some on here.

$950000 reasons it was handled this way by a naive administration.
I don't blame the players it's an Executive Level issue with mismanagement and incompetence creating these issues. It dates back to previous administrations and very Green current executive trying their best to mop it up.

A man's not just a list of achievements though and you can't tell people who they should respect, it's a feeling. Some may respect everything he's done for the club on the field and how he's overcome difficult times throughout his career, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will respect him as a person. That's a more difficult form of respect to earn and a much easier form to lose. I think he's lost some of that respect over the last 12 months. I personally found the Akauloa thing recently to be pretty appalling.

I simply want him gone just so that he and the club get past it. The status quo is the worst possible situation for all parties. It is quite clear for whatever reasons that the club and Farah will not be able to co-exist. I have no doubt that he wanted to finish his career here and most importantly that he is entitled to all that he signed on for, however he is not without blame either. Both he and the club could have handled things better and the failures of both have resulted in such a situation.

Hard to disagree with that. Neither he nor Taylor deserve some of the insulting stuff that's been said about them on here. God none of us even know the guys!

Someone on Facebook called for a contract to be put out on Taylor. Another said coward punching was fine in JT's case (Re: Fa'aolgo)

Good to see you have time to research and report on the nutcases who don't like Taylor.
Could you do some research on the other side?

While I agree a "contract" out on JT is a bit over the top, you can't honestly tell me these guys on Facebook spruiking this are fair dinkum lol… As for the so called coward punch from Fa'aologo, how do we know it was a coward punch?? We're any of us there??
