Good to see when players know its time to hang up the boots.

I personally think him and Parker are retiring an year too early
Plenty of good football left in them two

Dene to retire was the right choice though

Farah to become Tiger-shark

Agree on first two. Dene is a year too late.

This would be a kick in the guts for Buzz, after years of bagging him out.

One reason I'd love to see it happen is to watch old Captain Pancreatitis fawn over him after years of bagging him out.

He's already started. There was an article from him last yr condemning the club for the Farah situation, when a yr before he criticized Farah running the club and the club needed to stand up to him.

That's what I love about the media, ever sense Sheens got sacked the media has been on Farah's case about him having too much power at the club.
Then when Taylor and the club stand up to Farah the media is bagging the Taylor and the club.
Anything to sell newspapers.

Oh my lord. I can't imagine what our side would be like right now without Dene.

Considering we would have been hookerless we would have been in more trouble

Dene has slowed down in the last couple of years but he is had a decent 2016
He really is doing all he can to leave on a high and im proud of that effort.

He wont get 10km/hr quicker but he is pushing everything he has left

According to James Hooper

“I think he’s going to most likely end up at St George Illawarra.

“As it stands they’re the only club in the NRL that have expressed any sort of interest in having Robbie next year.

“The Wests Tigers will need to chip in a lot of money to make this happen — perhaps as much as $800,000 of Robbie’s $950,000 contract — the Dragons would then make up the rest and there is some pressure at this point for Robbie to also to be given a deal for 2018.

CRONULLA could have their cake and eat it too when it comes to replacing Michael Ennis in the No. 9 jumper thanks to the potentially bargain basement price attached to Robbie Farah.

Farah’s name was immediately put to coach Shane Flanagan following Ennis’ shock retirement announcement, and the Sharks mentor was coy on making a play for the disgruntled Wests Tigers veteran after the 2016 season.

Fox Sports revealed on Tuesday that Cronulla has already poached another out-of-favour Tigers rake with Manaia Cherrington being lured to The Shire on a two-year deal.

Flanagan has spoken highly of the young talent at the Sharks with utility Nu Brown and Australian Schoolboy brothers Jayden and Blayke Brailey already on the books and being groomed for the hooking role.

But Farah is now again long odds to remain at Concord after being dropped to reserve grade, and the Tigers have previously indicated their willingness to cover a significant portion of his $900,000 salary to move him on.

NRL360 host Ben Ikin says the Sharks could potentially pick Farah up on the cheap as a short-term, experienced replacement for Ennis while their young hookers continue to develop.

“If Robbie’s prepared to move and be coached by Shane Flanagan and he wants to get out of this mess he’s in at the moment at the Wests Tigers, then absolutely jump at the chance,” Ikin said on the Fox Sports Market Watch podcast.

“It’s my understanding that the Tigers have reached the point where maybe they were being a bit precious last year with how much they were prepared to let Robbie go.

“Now it may be down as low as to $200,000, $150,000 a year. So they’re still left with $850,000 (on their cap) it’s sad to think if you’re a Tigers fan.

“… (But from Cronulla’s perspective) I would absolutely make it. At the moment, Robbie Farah’s legacy has been tainted. He has a chance if he can to go to another club, that’s in a premiership window, and perhaps win a comp and show the world what the Tigers are missing out on.

I hope Manaia has a get out clause, poor bloke can't get away from Farah.

How said is it though, two of our reggies hookers are wanted by the team coming first and winning 15 games in a row. Not good enough for us huh.

So according to Hooper and Ikin another club can get him for as low as $150k. I thought that was false.

Yeah Id love to have this rule clarified once and for all

I cant be certain or able to give links but I thought the NRL said they would not register contracts that did not approximate the players value on the market as it is a form of salary cap rorting. 200k for Farah is nowhwere near his market value. I would say the NRL would allow 400k as a minimum.

Yeh…I heard similar in a radio interview, they call it a nominal value I think

Most important of all, I want to meet the couple who came up with Jayden and Blayke as names for their sons. When I say "want to" of course I mean "hope I never" but you get what I mean…

I am not a 100% sure but if the Sharks were to pay 150g, we than have to put the balance on our cap, although I also think the Sharks would be charged with more than 150g on their cap. I think all players are judged on what they have done and than given a minimum cap value. Other wise you would club doing all sorts of deals among themselves to beat the system.

As I said could be wrong..but I think it works along those lines

ur right supercoach, the eels wanted to sign folau for $200,000 but the NRL told them that was to cheap and they would be accessed on what he was worth thus they did not sign him.

In that case nobody was paying the rest of his real value.
It may be different if the player is seen to be getting close to his real worth.
We would be insane to pay $800,000 of his salary to play somewhere else for a $150,000 saving.
Unless, of course, someone knows he'll never play first grade no matter what happens.

Just ben ikin talking milky.there's been no quotes from Flanagan to suggest he's interested in Farah

Perfect fit for Farah if in fact it is true. They have become pretty shrewd operators at the Sharks of late seem to be working their cap very well.

Hope they tell him if there is any intentions of signing Farah before his 10-day cooling off expires.

I would like to see this happen for Farah's sake.

Let him enjoy his football for his last season or two.

He needs to get away from the Tigers.
