Farewell and thank you Corey

I wish him all the best. He played with heart and filled a number of roles for us.

However, he is no game changer, if our club was stacked full of stars he would be a great inclusion. We are not.

Thanks for your efforts but not a massive football loss.

Yes he gave this club a good service and am glad that he was given the opportunity to secure a long term contract with Titans.
All the best Corey!

It’s Pretty telling of the titans stocks coming through , if they even chose to give a fringe first grader a 3 year deal at 30 years old . Amazing for Thommo, but scary if you’re a titans fan . Not looking good

I don't know what is funnier, that we let go of Thompson before Jennings or that Matterson feels he's an authority to lecture on loyalty.

Clean outs involve getting rid of crap, not the silverware

Yup. Our best backline player for the last few years. Too good for us.

Thanks CT !!
Gutted !!
Great man, Great player. Would've loved seeing you play more especially with the new rules you would've killed it. Natural footballer who knows his way to the line.
Might see you around at Melbas.

Matterson is ungrateful and a bludger however he is a good player and will likely play origin this year, should have last year except he was a Tiger and left the Roosters... one thing you.dont do is if you.want to play for Blues is leave the Roosters

Great player in that he got all the juice out of the lemon each week.

So, who’s his replacement?

Robert Jennings

Yep, strong mail around he's being upgraded and extended.

No Bite, you guys.

No one is that stupid.

Anyone see the snake Mattersons comment on his insta post? Think he’s deleted it now as can’t find it anymore

Would have expected nothing less from a BIG sook!!!!

Matto calls himself a devout Christian but all his actions depict that of Judas.

Matterson has a title for his biography when he retires - "False Profit."

Its moments like these where i can see the fall out from having an average team for so many seasons.

Moving on from a 30yo Corey Thompson is very smart roster management. The backlash from the fans across all social medias is ridiculous.

Cant wait to see everyone come around to Maguire some day soon. The guy is doing some smart work and putting us back where we should be not only on the field but also as far as roster building and cultural changes go.

Thanks Corey, loved your work. Hope you go well.

I think the Reason people are a little upset with the release of Corey is because of the Efforts he has always put in on the Field
He has never let anyone down
He always gave 110%
He was very liked by his peers and supporters
He was truly a bright light of our club
Then we have players like Packer, McQueen, Jennings and Reynolds to a lesser extent that we seem to be stuck with and many of us would prefer that these players find another home 1st

**For those giving it to Madge, how do you know that Corey hasn't been asking for a release for weeks and for Family reasons**
This rumour has been going around since before we played the Titans
Corey was contracted to the Tigers till the end of 2020 and was offered a longer deal that appealed to him from the Titans
Way is that Madges fault.
I love Corey as a player at our club to
But we need a clean out and we need to start somewhere
We need success
That is something we all want

I was/am sorry to see him go also. Reality is as much as we love him, at 30 years of age he was never going to be offered a 3 year deal to stay here. The club has done the right thing by him and let him secure his future long term on what will most likely be his last contract in the NRL.
For those complaining about him going before Jennings, please by all means let the forum know which clubs are banging on our door to take him off our hands?

Great little player. I'd pick him in my team each week. Good luck to him except for when he plays us.

Classy player, classy bloke and the whole thing has been a demonstration of the right way to go about it. The (external) comments by both Corey & the Club have been first class.

it was the right thing to let him go. I hope he tears up at the GC, even against us.

The. Lord works in mysterious ways.

He does, but I have never read he carried on like Sooky Matterson.

The Gulargambone Kats are apparently interested for their B grade competition.

They offered a bag of Zooper Doopers and a Kats Key Ring for a 3 year contract.

I'd say take it Dopey - it's overs for you.

I think a bit of backlash is warranted. If our roster-building and cultural changes encourage getting rid of a bloke who busts his gut every week to accommodate uninterested, unmotivated, uninspiring players such as Jennings and Mbye: then questions will be asked as to just what our "core values" and other club BS spin really are?
Thanks for your efforts Thommo, you were always fun to watch and your wholehearted gutsy displays were much appreciated. Good luck in your new venture, loved watching you play for our Tigers

Maybe our 'cultural change' includes rewarding game winning talent and not just rewarding those who are good club men and do their best?

All the best Corey, thanks for busting a gut for us and enjoy the remainder of your career.

This is Jennings not Cory by the way.

Class act from the day he walked in our door! Hope he kills it for the Titans (only having bad games against us)
