Fifita, Teo and Hoffman

Just read an article on Foxsports which contradicts the claim of Fifita "whoring" himself off to another club.

I find it hard to believe he could [This word has been automatically removed] himself out while he's under contract. The club could have retained him if they wanted to but chose not to

With all due respect to Woodsy id like to see anyone say that he deserves a spot over Fifita based on tonights effort. Absolutely destroyed the best team pack in the comp.

All 3 have one thing in common and it's money…

You mention how you think Teo is vermon for whoring himself to the highest bidder. What do you think Fifita's Manager was doing for 12 months prior to his departure (even though he had a contract for a further 12 months at the Tigers)?

There is no point whining about the departure of any player who 'choose' to leave for more money, and Andrew was no different!

No…we let him go.
We got sucked in.
Flanagan called Humptys bluff and said they'd only take gibbs if fifita came with him.
Humpty & Sheens agreed.

Just another in the production line of WTs screw ups

Yep, absolutely killed it tonight. He's playing out of his skin.
Woods IMO deserves a spot on the bench for NSW, but I couldn't say Fifita or Woods deserves it more than the other.

Tonight in their win against the Rabbitohs, Fifita made:

23 runs
205 metres
43 tackles
1 missed tackle

Sad our management and coaching staff didnt work out for him.

+1.

Boom.

Different players, I wouldn't have Fifita starting Origin just like I wouldn't have Woods on the bench as an impact forward.

But both deserve to be there.

I haven't watched much of the Sharks this year. I only watched the second half tonight and whilst Fifita was a handful taking when he hit the ball up, I wasn't blown away by what I saw. He didn't take any of the dirty hitups when the Sharks were working the ball off their line. He'd take a hit up after a quick play the ball, or slightly wide when the Sharks were on the attack. Also thought his defense was poor for the period of time I watched it. He seemed to be at best second man in and often third man in. Then he'd go to marker and didn't push across at all.

Was his first half fantastic?

EDIT: I should also note I was at the gym so wasn't paying 100% attention.

If anyone thinks that Fifita is a better forward than Woods, then they have rocks in their heads.

Maybe if Woods was eligible for the indigenous side things things could have been different.

I haven't seen anyone make that claim.

Really. Well then why was Fifita chosen ahead of Woods in SOO ?

I think Woods is the better player but Fifita is a different type of player to Woods and it is really close as to who is the better player. Getting rid of Fifita was dumb. His talent was obvious.

possibly called Humpty's bluff, but it was well know his manager was shopping him around from late 2010

Look who these three players have to aspire to as far as a senior forward pack. Any good up and coming forward would play better under the guidance of Gallen, Burgess and the melbourne pack as a whole.

Sadly our front row, oustide of Farrah is far from an inspirational, aspire to be like on the field pack. Our most senior forward is Adam Blair next is Galloway, who when good and playing is a rare commodity these days. I think Aaron Woods deserves a lot of credit for his self development. I dare say he would have picked up a bit off Ellis last year, but wonder where he gets his inspiration these days. Imagine what an origin stint could have done for his confidence and the education of his own game.

Fact is Fafita ran sideways when he was at the tigers, and now he runs straight most of the time. Fact is he was dropped and rather than show determination to be re-instated to first grade he carried on like a pork chop and was barely state cup standard by all reports. I don't recall too many at the time saying "hey lets double his pay, maybe he will get better" - many apart from Balmain Bug that is; but remember he wanted every player on the outer kept, mighty mouse etc.

The call was- keep fafita and gibbs and probably lose Woods and/or Groat. I am glad we kept Woods and remains to be seen on Groat. Obviously Fafita would be good to have now, but I could not have predicted he would be the player he is today based on his attitude at the time.

He played like a dickhead cause he was obviously sick of playing here. It was only after he signed with the Sharks he turned to absolute crap. He already was dropped to state cup, but I think he gave up after that.

Rewatching last night's match and there is no way in hell Fifita is a better player than Woods.

He's been on the field 15 minutes and he's made a couple of hit ups. He's slow to get back in defense and doesn't make any tackles from marker. Very few of the tackles has he made first contact. After he came on South were making a lot more metres through the middle of the ruck. There's a reason Fifita is playing off the bench for the Sharks and not starting. He looks like a luxury player to me.
