Thought Matt Groat was gonna be a good player.

Yknow honestly I did too, but he got toweled up pretty hard in his first season and simply plateaued. He was great in juniors and impressive in his early matches, but it seemed to me that he wasn't up to being belted every week by the hardest men.

Tough times with forwards back then. Fifita was ill-disciplined as ever and would not stop running sideways. I personally wasn't that upset when he left, I felt his career was stagnating, but credit to Sharks for getting good juice out of him for a few seasons. However I'd also say Fifita is past his use-by now, not that Sharks mind because he single-handedly won them the 2016 comp and will be revered in the Shire forever.

Also Ben Murdoch, when he burst on and Sheens even picked him to play his first games in the finals series. Never kicked on, though he's doing better against middling opposition in the UK.

I think a lot of clubs since ~2010 have learned that you need to bring your forwards on much much more slowly nowadays, because opposition defences are so fit, they can make mince meat of young fellows. In generations past they may have chucked Tom Mikaele in a few years earlier, rather than save him up until he was 21. Payne Haas being a notable exception but that bloke is a once-generation beast.

As much as we hate Woods now , coming through he would only be surpassed by Glenn Lazarus as a better junior prop coming through in my opinion

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sutton get the gig.... He was terrible in the mbourne game... Cummins and co. Much better Raiders v south's... I'm.sure pipsqueak brother will see to it he gets the gig... Just another reeking stinking element of this game
