@gallagher Except Go Fund Me claims to be against discrimination. But employ discrimination in deciding who can and can't access their site.

Yeh, the hypocrisy isn't cleverly hidden.

Freedom is so overrated anyways

Grown adults have the freedom to donate as they please. GoFundme has the freedom to choose who uses their service. I have the freedom to rejoice in a religious nutbag getting some karma. Freedom for all!

Its still their right. Plenty of hypocrisy in religions.

@gallagher What has empty cliches got to do with Go Fund Me's decision?

What empty cliche? It's their right to choose what goes on their site. Your whinging about freedom and rights arnt you?

@gallagher Empty cliches like there is hypocrisy in religion.

Or do you support Go Fund Me's hypocricy?

Not fussed really. It's their choice.
But I do find it odd some rich guy putting his hand out for free money.

@gallagher Your not fussed by hypocrisy?

I find it odd too. But does that mean it should be banned?

If the govt said he couldn't fundraise then I'd have a problem. A private website can do as it pleases within the law.

@gallagher But Israel Folau isn't able to do as he pleases within the law?

I'm struggling to see any consistency with what you're saying here.

I didn't say he couldn't fundraise. Or speak his rubbish either.

@gallagher Buy you're fine with Go Fund Me banning him.

Gotcha.

The woke brigade wins.

Why can’t he set up his own website, or provide a bank account as many other fundraising ventures have done prior to the establishment of this site.

Is anyone aware of the terms and conditions of go fund me? I am betting that they are not a charitable organisation and likely take a percentage of what is raised via their platform

@Harvey I'm sure he will go off and open a Bank Account where people can deposit money to fund his legal case.

Go Fund Me takes a 5% share of all pledged made. So no, they're not a charity, they are a business run for profit.

Go Fund Me are quite within their rights to deny those trying to raise money to defend their discriminatory behaviour. Why would they want to assist and be associated with someone that defies their own values (and terms and conditions).

It's also quite funny that some people think that freedom of speech entitles anyone to say anything they like about anyone/anything. It doesn't work that way. Well at least he can't be stopped saying what he wants, but his words may have ramifications. Hate speech, racial slurring and other defamatory type comments etc are generally frowned upon and punished accordingly.

I was OK with Folau fundraising. Anyone who wanted to donate to him was well within their right to do so.

I also found it funny that someone with Folau's wealth was asking people to chip in for him.

I'm over the whole saga to be honest.
