Food thread

hate the cold ,time to batten down the hatches ,but love the food . Ham hock, bowl full of diced veg , bag of lentils . Crusty bread/butter. Cheats micro wave dessert ,homemade just as simple . Simplesjust throw it in and give it time on simmer Some of the supermarket freebie cook magazines have some easy ideas ,best to swap their premade stuff for fresh ,anything roasted warms the house

I love breaking out the slow cooker, or better yet, the camp oven on top of the fireplace.

I love chucking everything in before I leave for work, and coming home to a house that smells amazing, and dinner ready to go! Meatballs in bolognese sauce, apricot chicken, deep-down sausages (our daughter usually makes that, so I'll have to the recipe from her), savoury mince, corned beef, beef and beans, beef casserole, pumpkin soup, sweet potato and pear soup. So many delicious meals, easy to make. I've just got to get better at the preparing.

slow cookers n electricity are bad magic. Sweet potatoes n pear soup tweaked me. Buzzing out in the kitchen once a month for a weekend with no more than 2 others bopping 2 music makes easy living when its cold

Mum used to do corned beef, mash, and cabbage with paprika. I loved it, sounds a little bland now.
We used the slow cooker a bit in winter, usually beef chucks and veggies or lamb shanks.
How do you do corned beef?

I’ve messed with mash before, I like to make a volcano and fill it with gravy.

Corned beef, in ginger beer for about 6 hours on low, in the slow cooker. White sauce, mashed potatoes and peas. Yummy 😋

I had a seafood feast for Easter Sunday lunch. Crumbed prawn cutlets, oysters, bbq octopus and octopus salad. Yum.
Good squid or pus is tops!!!
I love salt and pepper cephalopod, when done well. Sounds simple, but no one likes chewy rubber rings when they can melt in ya mouth. Mmm.
The Fonz and I just had a B&E&S BBQ breakfast, after a loooong walk this morning.
Sounds like the rains has just given us the day off to watch the Gift.
Happy Easter everyone.
