I have Mark ONeill live a few streets away from him, see him walk with his daughter most afternoons. His wife also works with my brother in law (also a big tigers fan) says he's always been a nice guy.

My sister also brought Liam Fulton's apartment recently in Northmead. I went to the open day and wasn't a bad sized place for an apartment. He has his all stars jersey on the wall alongside Robbie Farah's NSW jersey.

Mark O'Neill's wife reckons he's always been a great guy?? Was she overseas or something when he got caught out exposing himself to a fellow WT employee? Surprised his missus is still with him TBH, she seemed like a beaut lady when she was being interviewed a fair while back after battling breast cancer. Hope she is doing well with that these days.

Sorry worded it poorly, as in my brother in law has said he's always been nice when he's met him.

I can confirm Mark O'Neil is a great guy, I met him at the pub on Xmas Eve 2004, the pre-season before the GF win. He was with a couple of his mates and I came over and started chatting to him. My mates and I ended up hanging out with them for the rest of the night. He gave some good insights into how they were training, he was really confident about their chances going into the season. Also discussed his displeasure for Parra and how they love winning against them. One of my mates had no idea who he was, Mark asked him who he supported and my mate said Dragons. Next sec, he calls Nathan Brown at 1am Christmas morning to tell him one of his loser supporters is with him. Great night.
My sister in-law also worked with him and had nothing but praise for him.
It's a shame how things pannned out with him.

Grew up in Portland, Craig Bellamy also did as did former Wests and Parra player John Baker. We moved to Lidcombe in the late 60s as did John Baker when he signed with Wests. Plenty of Wests players were living in Lidcombe as did Kevin Hastings who was there for many years. Mad Mick Alchin chased after me one day after I had a scuffle with one of his sons.

My children go to school with Michael Withers daughter. He played 40 games for Balmain in the 90s.
Went to school with Tim Brasher. Year below me at Grantham High School. Seven Hills.
Matt Moran (Chef) was in 2 years above me.
My 2nd grade teacher was Ian Schubert's sister. He came to our school a couple of times.
Troy Wazniak grew up in adjoining street.
My Mother worked with Graeme Atkins mother when he played in the 1981 Grand Final.

Hopefully Schubert's sister wasn't an accounting teacher if she was as useless at that subject as her brother.

Good one. Second grade teacher at Metella Road Seven Hills

It was the 70's and she looked a bit like Farrah Fawcett her brother also had
blonde locks and played for a Easts and definitely not as pretty.

My year 5 teacher was Steve Gearin, former Bulldogs winger who scored that try in the 1980 GF. The main memory I have of him was that he overlooked me for selection in the Balmain knockout squad even though I was the only rugby league player in our class and dominated the selection trials. I was a quiet and well behaved kid back then and didn’t question his decision, but it cut me up deeply and still hurts when I think about it. Years later I found out he’d had a fight with my uncle in a match a decade or so prior and most likely made the decision out of revenge. Poor form to do that to an 11 year old kid.

I was seldom in trouble at school... and I am not a physically violent person.
But there were a couple of teachers at Ashfield Boys High that I would not hesitate in smakin in the mouth if I ever bumped into them, for the way they dished out the cane to a few of the kids.
I even had a female (I wont call her a lady) teacher...Miss Devine... in Croydon Primary who accused me incorrectly of stealing another kids money and mistreated me very badly in handling the situation.
All these teachers would be dead now probably.

My Economics and home room teacher in high school was John Muggleton

I once refused entry to Brett Kimmorley into a club. Jason Taylor walked into the same place like he'd owned it too.

I'll never disagree with anything you say @Tigerdave.
I wouldn't be game to :grinning:

This is a fun thread. I went to Clemton Park PS and i remember Ron Willey came to the school when he was the Balmain coach just for a look around as he was an ex student. When I was at Kingsgrove North HS Steve Georgallis was a year behind me but super classy and much better than older kids. We had a very good open side in the early 80s that made it to the sharp end of one of the inter school comps - Jack Danzey was the referee for one of those games. My wife lived at Sefton and she grew up with the Lamb family. Alan Fallah was in their circle of friends too.

Not NRL related but I bumped into Natalie Portman Christmas shopping with her kids at Rebel Sport in the city today.

Nice. It seems a few Hollywood celebs have made Australia home during the pandemic.

Matt Nable is near me, and Terry Randall did my front yard excavating....

Currently working with Daine Laurie.....

David Chapman owns a local Real Estate agency in Bathurst, I’ve met him a few times really genuine guy.
Also bummed into James Grant a few years ago he was operating a Gym in Orange, he looked fit enough to still be playing.

Nope, she smiled at me...my Mrs just told me to close my mouth!

about 10 years i was at a big work conference/ awards ceremony / free piss up and the next day and walked past this couple having lunch and said gday ....thry replied and the lady who said hi voice sounded familar ...get to the end and everyone is staring down at this table .....it was Pink her husband and young daughter

I was a bit of a lad in the day and had had issues with certain teachers when I was at East Hills Boys that made me want to leave school at the end of Year 10.
I ended up working for a year and then went back to school at Picnic Point High School for Year 11 and 12. Ted Glossop was the headmaster.
Old Ted was a pretty straight guy and recognised me for the lad I was. I got on really well with a lot of the teachers - drinking beers every Friday night at East Hills pub with the form master; going to other teachers' places to listen to records and seeing bands with them in town. Beacause I had worked for a year they treated me like an adult.
Anyway I ended up getting selected to be school captain - Ted Glossop was not happy as he wanted someone else to be it (and probably rightly so as I wasn't the moral majority type). Hardly talked to me the whole year; wouldn't select me to do anything - didn't worry me at all. I was having a great time doing what n 18 year-old should be in the late 70s.

Haha that’s good to hear he made the grade as a teacher. I remember both he and Pat English (former Canterbury rake) came to our school as student teachers when I was in the early years of high school. Hopefully they both survived lol.

Don’t recall living close to any football players as such, but former Australian cricket captain Bobby Simpson was a neighbour of mine growing up. My mum was also a close friend with both Tommy’s and Terry Lamb’s mums back in the day. Watching the footy at Lidcombe with the Raudonikis family was a real hoot let me tell you - learned words I never even thought existed before 😂

Hey mate, I went to Ashfield De La Salle. You blokes at Ashy High used to take our straw boaters off our heads and throw them on the road so they get crushed under car wheels. We'd then have to explain to our parent why they had to buy another hat.
