Fullback

Let's assume Lui stays in NYC, Moltzen goes to half and Tuiqri stays on the wing…

Who would your first choice for fullback be?

WT backline without Tuiaki, or Tuqiri at the start of the year needs to boost more EXPERIENCED NRL players even with "big match" experience to have a good shot until Lote gets here.
With Ayshford, Ryan and Lawrence in the 3/4 line this makes Lawrence the most experienced(?) with under 70(?) first grade games. Not enough amongst them IMO.
Fitzy has to be in there somewhere.

I'd have Brown at fullback, although I'd like to know how Fitzy's pace is these days.

 That's great to hear…......then again Pace wasn't one of his best attributes..........

It's frustrating that we still find ourselves in a position of having shuffle players around in key positions.

The only clear thing to me is that Tim Moltzen should be halfback, even if he is also the best fullback in the club. Our fullback should be Shannon Gallant, who we could have kept for very ordinary money - a lot less than we are paying for Lote Tuquiri.

Of the players in the club now, Beau Ryan should be tried at fullback, because he is alert to attacking opportunities and should be OK under the high ball. It is also the only way Beau Ryan will stay in first grade, because we now have more wingers than we know what to do with (Ryan, Tuquiri, TNT, Daniella and Brown, to name the obvious ones).

Mitch Brown should also be tried at fullback.

Did I miss something, all the news we are getting from Camp Concord from both the players and the coach is, Lui will be our starting 7 and Moltzen our starting no1 come round no1\. I know we can expect a few smoke screens from the club but the feeling I get its all done and dusted for our monday night clash with the eagles. I would be very surprised if the backline barring injuries isnt 1 tim m
2 mitch B
3 blake a
4 lawry
5 beau R
6 bunji
7 robert l
14 tomato

95% Spot on SuperC.

Only the Number 2 is a toss up between the two new recruits IMO.

Brown Vs Daniella….

You are probably right, just a side note on Daniella, I have a feeling that he might be a handy goal kicker. Might be wrong but seem to remember him kicking a few at the penny panthers.

Mitch Brown, assuming Moltz is at halfback but I think rnd 1 will be as supercoach has stated.
Me and my mate have made a pact not to waste our money on any game where Fitzy is named in the 17\. It would be a disgrace and definitely a step backwards if he is named in our squad, possible exception being hooker when Farah is playing origin.

Maybe it's the weather in Paris, but the club signed Gallant for 'very ordinary money', but he found a place that would give him more, so he broke his deal with us. So you can stop this BS about Gallant being a loyalist who'd play for nothing, cause he isn't.

We could probably get Richie Williams to be our 5/8 for a lot less than what Benji is being paid or get Stuart Flanagan for alot less than what Farah is being paid.

first choice fullback, Mitch Brown.
would not be suprised sometime during the season to Jake Mullaney get a run as fullback in first grade.

May the lord jesus christ help us!!! Moltzen is by far our best 1 and 7\. Both positions are absolutely crucial IMO. Its really a case of is Lui a better 7 than someone else is a fullback….or do we have a fullback whos better than having Lui at 7\. Its all too hard. We have recruited backs that dont really fill spots we need filled. Will be interesting to see game 1 and see what happens.

I'd be really careful with Mullaney, if guys like Lawrence and Tuqiri are indeed picked for Origin, then I'd consider it, otherwise I wouldn't play him this year.

This time last year it was a race between Gallant and McDonnell, yet Sheens picked Moltzen for every trial giving those two first guys small stints.
No one picked Moltzen (a 19 year old who had played just a handful of games) to be the starting 1, let alone the best halfback all year!

This doesn't really prove anything except that we shouldn't rule out Sheens going for Mullaney; he is the only specialist fullback we have!

Agree SunTan. Lets see how Gallant goes this year. My tip is that he will be playing a lot of QLD Cup. For those who doubt Tuqiri, go watch some of the highlight reels of his younger days in the NRL. Once he trims some of his "rugby" size I am tipping him to replicate some of those feats.
