Geoff Daniela - Confirmed

LOL you're including byrne in your bad backs siginings. He played for Balmain before his horrific injury. Why don't we include the whole state cup backs for the magpies and tigers, since they're not playing first grade they must be bad signings :unamused:

Richards, Tuiaki, and to a lesser extent Elford were all good signings. Funny how people can pull out players from everywhere no matter who they signed for to be bad signings, but they can't think of the current players.

Not a bad pick up. Probably no worse than Collis overall, though both a very different in style. Certainly covers the loss of Collis and Tagive. Still young which means the best is still ahead of him.

I think this guy is a great signing, he reminds me of Whatuira in a lot of ways as a player

With loosing Tagive, Collis, Halatau, Morris (which could mean Moltzen/Ayshford playing in the halves) and with the injuries experienced by our outside back this yr such as Lazarus I think this was an area we needed to sharpen up and as Toupu is still a big risk injury wise (although for the price no problems)

Great signing

Pretty much agree with your entire post…

As long as we didn't pay a overs for the bloke, I'm more than happy to see him putting on a Tigers jersey next season...

Richards yes, forgot about him, Elford no, didn't rate him and still don't.

Tuiaki??? How can you include him, he made his NRL debut with us.

I didn't rate Elford as any kind of star, but he did his job and played his part in the 05 premiership, so I think that makes him a good signing.

Tuiaki was not signed as a junior, and was signed from rugby. That makes him a signing, whether he played first grade for another club is irrelevant. Is Albert Kelly not a signing for the sharks?

Sheens said that Daniela will be used as either a centre or winger. Fullback certainly wasn't mentioned. Tuiaki has one wing position sewn up so there will be some competition between Ryan/Tupou/Daniela for the other, or we could see him partner Lawrence in the centres, although he could be competing against Ayshford or possibly Pritchard if he is signed up.

Tuiaki never played "professional" rugby union so I cannot see how you can count him as a signing from elsewhere… If you are going to then you might as well include Benji Marshall as well, he wasn't a Tigers junior :unamused:

Technically maybe, but for all intensive purposes he shouldn't be included in the list imo, but either way - our recruitment overall (not just in the backs) has been abysmall apart from a couple of notable exceptions - eg. Hodgson, Richards, Prince.

We can only hope Daniela turns out to be as good as our last Penrith poaching Paul Whatuira who looked average at Penrith and then kicked on when he came to us…

Overall our record is pretty poor though, just off the top of my head:

Bad backs signings:
Miles, Rieck, Youngquest, Moodie (2nd time around), Lolesi, Byrne

Good backs signings:
Hodgson, Whatuira

50/50 backs signings:
Hanbury

Total:
Good: 2
Ok: 1
Bad: 5

What about Head,Clayton,Wilson,Buettner,Saleh,Air,Simon,Crockett,Jeffrey,Jeffries,Black a mixed bag there,I am sure I have missed more as this is off the top of my head.

Daniela is super quick & can find the line & a solid defender. My missus is spewin. So good signing
Does this mean Ryan will be off loaded?? Please

5.Daniela/Roquica/Tupou

Now Tigers get out there and sign A DECENT PROP FORWARD!!!.Its this area that needs strengthening

Some good options at in 5 there. We do need another Prop now. We can rely on Skando forever.

and 5 of them in his 6 games for the club this year.

the kid obviously still needs a bit of work, but he is a talent

I hope he improves on his last game for Penrith.

Don't want to bag the kid until we see what he's got…...hopefully he finds good form.

Anyone know how long he's actually signed for?

I think its a good signing, but I'm hoping we've stopped with the 3 year contracts and only gone with 1-2 years.

It's a 2 year deal.

Wests Tigers have moved swiftly to replace Cronulla-bound Dean Collis with the signing of Penrith's New Zealand-born centre Geoff Daniela for the next two NRL seasons.
>
Daniela, 22, has agreed a **two-year deal** with the Tigers from the start of the 2010 season.
>
"Geoff is a very quick player who is stuck behind Michael Jennings and is looking for an opportunity," Tigers coach Tim Sheens said.
>
"He has played some first grade and fits our type of player.
>
"He is very good in attack and will fit into our game very well."
>
In a first for rugby league, **the Tigers announced the signing on the club's Twitter page.**
>
The signing of Daniela, who has scored 13 tries in 25 games for the Panthers, follows the acquisition of former Brisbane and Bradford winger Tame Tupou last week.

2 year deal. We announced the signing on twitter?

Lolesi, an international centre/winger when we signed him, and we played him at lock. DUMB DUMB DUMB. Even after Whatuira went down after 12 or so rounds we kept him at lock, and it wasn't until about Round 20 we moved him to the centres. When we did, he was one of our better players. It's amazing what playing someone in position can do.

I don't understand this signing
We already have outside backs coming out our ears
and with Lazarus coming definitely have a FG spot
I do not see a place for Geoff
with already having two starting center's in Ashyford and Lawernce
Tuaki Tupuo and Ryan…not to mention other juniors
And Gallant...

Spend the money on a PROP please! please!

What the? Most of you guys bag out collis and ryan and are glad collis is gone. Reality check! This guy is a nobody, and your saying good signing??? He's not half the player collis is and you will find that out next season. Why do you think penrith dont want him. Wake up! Why do we keep signing the 'little people'. This really s***s me! Sign monahan or orford and mat scott, not another nobody 'who has potential'. BTW as to ryan did you clowns watch last week against the bunnys he almost topped the hit ups and made good metres for us! yet you continue to bag, well done! get a new axe to grind what about the dud paine! appropriate name though!!!

The thing I like about Daniella is he has sheer pace.

There have been a few times this year when Marshall has been too fast for his outside men.

Could be a very astute buy at a short price.
