I like this - the last part. Try or penalty goal. Simple, easy to implement and doesn't change the regular time game. The only thing that would come under more scrutiny is the refereeing, but it does regularly enough now anyway.

Hierachy doesn't want controversial refereeing decisions to decide a game. They'll never head down that path. They'd rather bury their heads in the sand and maintain the status quo. After all, it's only ever the lowly teams that falter under pressure or don't have the class in the critical momemts of a game. They should return to the perfectly functional old ways of no extra time, no golden point, no problem. It worked so well for so long. Nobody ever complained but our game at times makes change for change sake. Seems to be just how things are these days. Sad really.

For the millionth time, it will not happen. Golden Point will stay, it's about finding a sensible solution for Golden Point matches.

I know. I agree it will stay. It's just sad that it will. Pathetic actually. I'm yet to find anyone that likes it. But I'm sure some must.
