Halves

Moses did an interview recently where he reflected upon his and Luke’s playing relationship over the years. In it he admitted he did most of the heavy lifting and Luke played eyes up.
Our club tried to change a Cheetah into a Lion. A lot of fans have been saying this for nearly a decade now.
GET HIM A CONTROLLING HALFBACK TO PLAY ALONGSIDE!
OK- which controlling half? You can only buy what is available.

Laurie has to be in for Wakeham who is not NRL level. Sheens is so stubborn & obviously does not want Laurie at the club anymore like he did not want Hastings there once Jackson challenged him to be halfback & not a lock he was our best option in the halves by far & the media should give it to Sheens for that reason.
I think Laurie provides 2 things- he's a good support player around the ruck, which would be a help. Way better than Brooks, Wakeham or Doueihi.

He's also a little bit Ewen McGrady. You're never 100% sure what he's going to come up with. He's unpredictable in a fairly predictable team.

I'm 100% ok with Laurie playing 7 or 6 at this stage.

He had one right in front of him
Problem was he isn't into fluffing the coach. Likes to tell people how he feels.
We might not have been in 1st place if he was here but where the Knights are feels a lot better than where we are.

Absolute rubbish

We have a better team than the knights and they have won 3, drawn 1.

Him and API would carve.

This thinking is the same as the CEO and board and Sheens who try and justify their diabolical decision to release him instead of Brooks.

And then they try sign Pearce!

Hastings is a winner.

Everyone who can’t see this has been blinded by ten years of failure at this club
Best post all Weekend.

Tigers management are just milking the club.

They dont really care, Its their Job not their passion.

Brooks is killing Hastings this year. It's not close.
Sorry Earl,
You're watching the a different Game.
As a sum of the Parts, Brooks s a good footy player

Fast,
Good Defender for his sze
Good Kicker / Passer

He Runs then Turns and passes in side. Even my teenage son noticed that yesterday... Very basic and lacks creativity.

Listen to the Way Cooper Cronk talks about how a half back should think.

He isn't feared by any defenders

Hastings is yet to be anyone's long term answer at #7. Mongrel dog or not, why has every team moved him on so quickly?
Salford didn't want to move him on he chose to go to Wigan for opportunity after a great season with Salford. And we approached him at Wigan to come to us. Again a decision he made in relation to his career wanting to test himself back in the NRL. Vastly different situation to being unwanted/ moved on by clubs.
What is true is that we were content to move him on and here we are.

Some people with their heads in the sand here talking about Hastings.

Their team is no better than ours and yet they've got 3 wins and a draw. They narrowly lost to the Cowboys last week and pushed the Panthers to golden point too. Hastings' field goal attempt against Manly also missed by whiskers. They very well could have been at 6 wins if a few coin flips go their way.

They beat us with Ponga and Brailey going down early and Frizell halfway through. Overcame a sin-bin and a send-off at Leichhardt, despite us being parked down their end the entire game.

No-one is calling Hastings Nathan Cleary or Andrew Johns, but he's a good halfback in this competition. He can structure your attack, manage the game well and play his role in generating points. He might not win us a competition on his own, but you can definitely win plenty of games with him and make the 8. That's a marked improvement on where we're at now. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day. If we were 10th with Hastings in the 7, there'd be way less media hit pieces, players from other clubs would actually be interested in joining us since we'd have a bit of momentum and things would look to be on the up. Instead, 17th with our dopey coaches insisting on Brooks in the 7.

Roosters, Manly & us. Maybe the English clubs not 'moving him on' is an indication of his value?

Yeah I agree. Wakeham is terrible

Roosters moved him on - attitude
Manly moved him on - attitude
wests tigers moved him on- attitude
we will see how he lasts with Ponga and Gagai during the Newcastle tenure

Laurie 7, Brookes 6!

You missed the bit where he was out halfback for most of his games last year
- And we won the least amount of games we've ever won....

And one of those was when he played 13

He's getting credited overs at Newcastle, Blokes like Gagai, Frizzel and Fitzgibbon are making them look better than he is....

Yes, They beat us - Despite the game playing out in our favour....
How many mistakes did we make down their end - Backs dropping ball cold, Poor defensive reads etc.
Those would have happened no matter who the half is.

Not that I would care to quote the media - But one of them said...
Whatever the knock on Hastings is, It travels.

The history prior to England is well documented and owned by Hastings. Everything since then has been on the back of choices he has made about his career after good performances.- just like every player does, who chooses to change clubs and is approached by others
Sheens didn't rate him plain and simple.

sheens rated him as a 13 not a 7. We should judge it at the end of the year.

Nup Im judging whats happening right now. I don't think Hastings is the be all and end all by any means but also don't support an agenda against him to justify a decision by Sheens choices. He backed Brooks and moved on Hastings and Madden and I'm judging those decisions based on what's happening right now.
