if we dont get to keep him..

all eyes r on Simpkin and Liddle
if they both are not ready

Walters is a very suitable backup

i wonder if Walters will get any more runs this season at hooker or 5/8

If Grub goes out of form, I would like to see Walters get a shot at five eighth, we need to look to next year, and how Walters handles five eighth will have an impact on recruitment

I find it amazing that he couldnt crack the big gig at the storm this season. Kind of stunned they even traded him. Brandon Smith as good as he is, isn't as good as this bloke. Placing C Smith at 7 and Harry at 9 would have been deadly.

Storm with their hookers is like Tigers with their fullbacks a few years ago. Cam Smith is still in form and one of the GOAT. There's no reason why he should retire right now unless he's personally had enough, because he's fit, influential and core to Melbourne's success.

Brandon Smith is a great little hooker/lock who apparently wants to play more exclusively at hooker. He wants to start matches. He's probably one of the better benchies going around but I don't think any footballer wants to be a career benchie. It doesn't seem like Wombat would be satisfied continuing to play off the bench and Harry Grant just automatically going to hooker for 2021. You could imagine Wombat has been biding his time patiently, waiting for Cam Smith to retire; that's the way Storm does things.

So you can understand why Storm might struggle to keep Grant despite the desire to do so. 3 (players) does not go into 2 (roster slots). It's the same reason we lost Paps.

The other problem is Cam Smith is a legit 80-minute player and Storm don't need the hooker sub. Wombat has been exclusively playing bench wrecking ball. Maybe you can put Cam Smith to the halves, but then you piss of Jahrome Hughes, or if you move Hughes to FB, you demote Paps. Again, Storm will have too many spine options with both Smith, Wombat and Grant at the club in 2021, and you'd imagine they'd have to entertain letting someone prominent go to fit the others in.

Harry Grant is currently 2nd in the Dally M on 10 points. That's after missing the first two rounds of the season. Taumalolo is leading on 11.

huge risk Cochise i thought he was coming at start of year when the deal got held up he blew out from $200 to $350 thinking he wasnt coming.
Mind you i also had bets in january on
JAC leading try scorer
Nofo , yes Nofo leading try scorer (he still cant tackle)

Harry grant was $350/1 at start of season on dally M i had a sneaky $10 hope he keeps going

After the trial I posted on Reddit that Nofoaluma was overs to be top tryscorer this year but never bet. I'm a dumbass. He was like $54.

I have a feeling bellyache is a hard enough coach to take cammy aside and say it is time. I can't give you a first grade spot next year. The choice is yours but you will have to fight it out with the young bloke.

$67 Facepalmer damn that was a good price i took massive unders at $44 lol they usually get up when you take the unders

mind you for another thread my Donald Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon 2020 election and tigers to make the top 8 is not looking to good at the moment

Cam is still one of the top half dozen players in the NRL,so likely to go around again
Bellamy is too smart to let a 10yr+player like Harry slip thru his grasp,so you can count him into Storm next year too.Plus he is a genuine leader...
Collateral damage may be Brandon Smith or Jerhome Hughes,as both will feel passed over(particularly Brandon),and we shld keep an eye on both.
The other Storm player we shld be talking to is Vuanvali....signed with Qld Rugby, but 60% salary cuts for remainder of 2020 and no tv contract at this stage for 2021(but probably more of the same $) mite just make him available (and Id rather him than JAD)

Is Bellyache going to be at Melbourne beyond next year? Who would take over from him? These are things Grant will be thinking about. If Smith plays on, we arrange to keep the loan deal going which gives Grant first grade and Simpkin more time to develop. One thing is for sure, barring a dramatic form slump, he will never again be playing reserve grade.

Jason Ryles comes to mind

Cam playing like he wants to go around again.

Love Harry pass from DM so fast and get players on the outside straight on chest.

The fact that he’s the 3rd ranked hooker at the storm might also suggest his style of play may not suit what Bellamy wants. Storm are very structured and I cNt imagine someone like Munster enjoying a play as you see it hooker like grant. Also if bellAmy has promised Brandon smith the role next year I can’t see him as someone that would go back on his word. I’d break the bank for this kid , give him a 5 year contract and the captaincy , whatever it takes.
