HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Does HBG know that? Perhaps someone should let them kmow ..cause I can’t work out why else they would be sabotaging the club…
Why do you think HBG are sabotaging the club?
Quite honestly there are so many rumours flying around...and that's all they are, rumours...and so many people getting hot under the collar.
I'm just worried with all this bolarkey that's going on and upsetting people, how many Balmain people have had heart attacks.
I think we all need to take a deep breath and settle down until the proof of what has happened comes out.

I don’t think losing one half of our team is the answer. We must continue to respect and honour our past but seriously have to push pass the division and ego.

Maybe HBG have to go but I don’t think having a pro Balmain (Remove the pies) approach is the answer either. We are and always will be Wests Tigers. Two battlers that joined together in order to survive. I wonder how Tommy Would feel.

Sorry this is not a pro Balmain approach. It is a pro Wests Tigers approach. HBG has to go

He opened his most recent fan video by saying the owners are completely behind the decisions being made by the WT Board. And he said he needed good governance from day dot. It’s 100% untenable.
Judging the interview with the HBG leader, it seems that may not be fully true. So was he wrong? Ill informed? Or are they all lying?

What Paton’s quotes highlight to me is somebody is outright lying and the NRL needs to find out.

PATON in SMH:

“Now, there’s an agreement between Wests Tigers and Holman Barnes Group where certain decisions that are made need to come back to the owner for approval. That simply hasn’t been happening.

“And I can give an example of that – the stadium policy around Leichhardt Oval. So the announcement was that Leichhardt Oval would be the home of Wests Tigers for the next 15 years. The Holman Barnes Group board only found out about that with 16,000 other fans at Leichhardt Oval. Which is really bad for business, and it’s quite embarrassing really ...

JOINT STATEMENT from independent directors:

“We have at all times complied with our fiduciary duties in our roles as directors.

We reject any suggestion of a lack of communication with Holman Barnes Group. Holman Barnes Group is represented on the board of the Wests Tigers and its representative has been present at all Wests Tigers board meetings and provided with all board information. No concerns have been raised by the representative of Holman Barnes Group at any Wests Tigers board meeting in relation to governance, communication or consultation.”

The minutes from board meetings & written correspondence between board members should reveal all. The NRL need to obtain & forensically review these.

If minutes weren’t taken in Board meetings (which I highly doubt) then the entire Board, HBG reps & Richo may be in strife.
Intent and context matters a lot here, along with the course of resolution.

- Did HDB give the guys a warning?
- Did HDB board members remind them of the agreement?
- Why dissolve the board instead of simply communicating?
- Did it get caught up in the HBG board member changes - Stephen Montgomery dropped start of July (replaced by leo), stadium annoucment August.

These rules are brand new and thats an important factor. An oversight vs avoidance is a very big difference. I really struggle to see richo or barry avoiding HBG deliberately, despite the lack of respect one might have with the HBG board.

A bit of good news to report (well, for most of us). Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson is leaning towards staying on despite the board changes.

HBG CEO Daniel Paton in the Herald today said he will make the call by Monday but they want him to stay on as well.

Please Richo, we Wests Tigers fans want and need you to continue to do the incredible job you’re doing. #InRichoWeTrust

Yes that’s probably his only play.
You can’t blame him either, this club has contributed nothing but bad press and cringe for many many years now.
It is a soap opera.
That said, if we think he may pull that rein, why are people encouraging others to contact him?
Well...it's the most powerful rein to pull isn't it?..so a bit like a nuclear weapon, you're probably a bit hesitant to use it unless you think you'll get full support.

It's really the final move...if the noise is loud enough to make the call, I think he'd do it.

So you want the owners threatened with having the club kicked out of the NRL?
It’s a bold move cotton, lets see how that works out.

They have sabotaged the club man, thats the problem. You can't rewind what just happened and the timing was right when bula was negotiating.

So there better be a bloody good reason. Because, from the outside looking in, there is very little to justify blowing up the club like this, especially when all metrics were trending positive.

Currently the reason is not informing HBG on some commercial items. Which is not a good enough reason alone for me to do what they did, unless there were multiple warnings deliberately ignored.

Their example, the leichardt deal, came with $50m of stadium funding. Massive. It was a win, so what if they weren't consulted? There were heaps of public articles about richos push leading up to it, so if they didnt get involved, its on them.
