HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Sure.
They listened, mulled over your idea, gave it a shot,
then realising it wasn’t for them, tossed your idea in the bin.

I mean they could of just told you to rack off from the get go 🤣
Except the only real progress we made in over a decade was when they implemented the recommendations.

You see that's the issue people have, the available evidence was that it was working.

Bad press.

HBG.have also removed every HBG director that was supportive of the review including the removal of 2 chairs.
Politics 101.
Never agree to a review without first knowing the conclusion.

Reminds me a little of Albo’s review into COVID, where he framed a terms of reference which omitted the Premiers from having to appear. This of course just left the previous Federal Govt to face the music.

*Of course when it come to playing cynical politics, HBG aren’t in the same ballpark as our beloved PM (take that as genuine or sarcasm depending on your party political position)

I guess time will tell.
How long was the “independent Board” in place ?
If we get a few years down the track and on field performance dips again and financials head south - then your case will be strong.

For certain. And in this case it'd be 100% accurate if the club made zero developments over the course of a year, decade etc. But that isn't true. The club has evolved & developed- success is for you to decide.
How exactly has the club evolved and developed over the last decade? Please share the before and after state (2015 to 2024) and reference how much input HBG had into the projects.

You cannot include anything under the richo/independent directors era, because they made sure the best thing that happened to the club (results on and off the feild) in that 10 years was pushed out the door.

It's still unclear the direction the club wants to go with the board make-up. If it comes back a largely independent group, it could go a long way to satisfying a lot of fans.

The reasoning for the removal of board members continually gets overlooked, or maybe downplayed is more the correct term.

HBG obviously felt left out of the decision making loop on financial discussions- something that they claim was part of them agreeing to the recommendations. If that is the case, then their reaction can be understood. (The validity of the claim isn't what I question- just the claim itself & taking it on face value).

Their next actions are really more important for mine. How the board gets structured & the people that make it up will be the indicator of what HBG really are trying to achieve.

Everyone can feel as sceptical as they feel is appropriate- but hanging them before the restructure feels premature.

This is almost impossible to answer with any accuracy because how do we know how much input HBG actually had?

I mean- development of junior paths. HBG funds both Wests & Balmain juniors- can we attribute that to HBG?

What about the actual implementation of the fan-led review? Can we attribute that?

And NOT including the "independent board" achievements is unfair also. They had members on the board. They clearly had impact. They funded the club during that time.

My point all along has been (annoying to some I'm sure) that we 'just don't know' enough of the details to demonise HBG the way this message board wants to.

I made a reference to profits & memberships under Pascoe & Lee. The CEO of the club came out championing record memberships & the club running at profit. So the most recent claims that this is the 'first time we run at a profit' suggest the former CEO was lying? Is there proof of that?

"The Wests Tigers have gone from posting a $4.6 million loss in 2016 to rounding out 2018 with a $100,000 profit - and the club did not even play in the NRL finals."
That was from the SMH.

I'm calling BS on their reasoning for multiple reasons. They had 2 representatives on the board acting on their behalf. It was their responsibility to keep HBG informed.

Secondly they since removed the video that stated that was reasoning so their is no longer any face value to take them on.

I will be satisfied if they appoint a majority independent board and enshrine that in the club constitution.

I am not participating in any action until that board is announced.

The inclusion of free junior league passes in membership numbers is proof the former CEO was lying or being extremely misleading at best.

I appreciate your stance & you obviously have a longer association with that group than I do.

I asked you a while back (might have gotten missed) if some of the decisions at board level get green lighted & implemented quicker than when HBG might sit & get updated on details by the board members?

Not saying that is the case, but if that COULD happen, it might explain their reasoning, despite the HBG/Wests Tigers board members.

From memory the wording was that "financial decisions were made & implemented without consultation of the HBG board as was part of the agreement. Board members hearing of decisions on game day is embarrassing" or something along those lines.

I couldn't find anything about the memberships- just remembered hearing it.

Was there some creative accounting exposed on the profit statement?

Then it's the responsibility of their representatives on the board to ask for more time.

I gave you a simple task - back up your claim: provide a comparison of the past and curent state of the club. You have not done this.

No one was on here demonising HBG before they sacked the directors. So maybe pull your head out of the sand for a second eh? There has never been a conspiracy on here re hbg. Its all reactive to their actions.

I've never used Lee as evidence.

Wests Tigers being a private company doesn't report financials so you can not review them.
I know- a couple of people on here are using his current commentary as some kind of truth telling against HBG.

If that is the case- does that mean any statement about profit made is questionable?
