Hit on Groat

For mine this is what is wrong with NRL. We get no advantage from a high shot on one of our players. For mine if a player can't return to the field after a shot that placed the opponent on report you should be able to add another player to your interchange bench for the rest of the game. We got no advantage apart from a penaltly but was a player short after the hit.

Maybe some teams may rort such a system but any player goiing onto the bench would not usually be of the same standard as the player who can't return for the rest of the match.

I think if someone goes on report and its deemed bad enough,i reckon they should be off for 20 minutes or in this case teo goes off with groat and sits out as long as he does.

Just on my way home from the game. It looked like he was hit flush on the jaw. Did it look like that on tv?

I think you should bring another player onto the bench at least. The only teams that benefit are those that play the team whilst the player is suspended.

100% agreed

Where do you find that other player ?
The NRL should have the guts to march a player for foul play

On top of us being down a player for the match, Groat won't play next week either. Only team to benefit is whoever plays Brisbane next week.

The hit was a good hit but illegal and in my books a send off.

IMHO if a player is concussed/injured and put on report, the defender shall be out of the game for the time the injured player is out and minimum 5 min in the bin.

I may be going over the top be I think a shoulder charge gone wrong like tonight, should see the offending player marched for the game with a predetermined period on the sidelines (say 2 - 3 weeks).

That way it's either coached out of the players, or taught with a safe technique… Not a player using their body as a missile at the opposing player.

Just like the old days you bag a couple of state cup players to sit in the stands.(sideline: in the old days I remember the excitement waiting to see who came to sit out on the bench in their dirty uniforms from the previous game). A better option than having an unmanned bench.
I don't think the game would benefit from marching players put on report….would up the level of viciousness before a ref would do so.

But what if theyre found to have no case to answer, theyve done nothing wrong yet lost a player for 5 minutes.

Its not that simple.

Just because a player is put on report doesnt equate to guilt of anything even if it is deemed worthy of a penalty

not a bad idea. Do that hit at your own risk. If you hit high,10 in the bin and if the player you hit is ko'd then you are gone!

Should of been a send off.
Otherwise we'd have players doing this not only to young bench props but also key play makers.

They are professionals and as such should tackle legitimately and incompetent or deliberate high shots should be punished as so.

4 high shots in 4 weeks, 1 penalty…
