I just read a column that had all of Ivan's career stats and I'm bewildered on how he got the job he really hasn't done much I'm a little worried about the Wests Tigers but I hope I'm wrong

Yeah I thought Toovey had it for sure…

What happened there..?

I don't think it's funny..I want to know why he didn't get it..

Toovey would be good at the football side if things, but not in the organisational side. Cleary is better at bringing the footy and administration sections together towards a common goal. Thats the way I see it anyway.

Like someone posted before it would have been worth it just for the press conferences.

Ivan Cleary has an average but not terrible win/loss record.

The major selling point is he got his teams regularly to the finals - Warriors made it 4/6 times under Cleary and have not made the finals since he left. Penrith made the finals 1/4, which is not so good, but I also note between 2005-2015 Penrith only made the finals twice, once was with Cleary.

I think you will find that it won't take 2.25 seasons for for Cleary to see what our biggest problems are. Our defence and our right side I particularly. Also fitness and attitude.along with little or no leadership.
Taylor at least knew that our defence was a problem , but lived in a bubble and believed that he was fixing it.he also knew that our right side was Poo, but kept putting the same players out there week after week. Il betthere will be some changes there , if they produce the same rubbish after the next few weeks.
I Ve heard all the stuff about we had no one mbetter than them, well I'd rather see some lesser players from reserve gradeat least given the chance to see if they could do better. As the ones that were there , were liabilities. There was nothing to lose.
At least our number one bighead won't be there next season( or earlier))
Probably two as least ,of our defensive liabilities will probably be gone if they don't suddenly grow another leg in defence.
We should soon see who can defend or not now that they've been given a chance to save themselves

I just think he commands respect. He might not be the best tactical coach, or most inspiring however he is very level headed and knowledgable.

Penrith and the Warriors are not easy clubs yet he left both in a better then what he found them.

Ill support him because he has the track record of growing a club from the ground up.

Statistics should be used as a filter to aid decision-making. Context and circumstance are critical variables which cannot easily be isolated in rugby league analysis.

Statistics can be powerful if used correctly, or can be dangerous if used lazily as a means of reaching a quick decision without context. Very few events in righty league are mutual exclusive.

Unfortunately we live in a world where people use blogs from the internet ("top 10 things…") as their sources of knowledge instead of academic research in journals which has been scrutinized and revised by experts who devote their lives to a topic.

Toovey would have been a disaster for the Tigers. "Mitch. Brooksie. Look at this head. That's what happens when you tackle big blokes." Immediate releases then requested.
