This is a very alarming article player welfare issues are of major importance. Shows what a leader Halatau is great man. Tragedy can strike with depression we should know better than this. Taylor and reddy need to go now.

No they don't - you are just pushing your own agenda.

Halatau is a good bloke who all the players like - he is reasonably experienced in mentoring players - so I would have thought he was a good choice to have a chat and suss out the situation (i.e. more likely to open up to a playing mate than the coach) and report back as to the best approach to take.
I think he took the right approach.

Instead, it is Taylors fault no matter what he does.

He could win us 5 or 6 premierships and you guys would be saying if we had a good coach we would have won 10.

Haters love to hate

Are you related to him?

Gee in your eyes a Coach has nothing to do with this sort of situation?
For Sitaleki this is his livelihood and playing as a 5/8th in Reserve Grade, how confused do you think he would of felt and the concerns he would of had for his Career.
So you don't feel JT could of sat him down and encourage him in what areas he might need to work on to have any chance of maybe seeing 1st Grade.

Sounds like you have never had to deal with someone dealing with Mental Health issues

The first grade coach has minimal contact with fringe lower graders. He employs staff to do this. Sounds like you have never had to deal with a rugby league club or a corporate entity for that matter

, another one that knows me :roll

This article is so damning for the club is not funny.
JT pushed this man almost to breaking point. With Mosese still very much still in our thoughts and prayers. He felt depressed not because he is weak or selfish, but because he felt he was letting his team mates down.
JT asked Halatau to keep an eye on him??? Dene is champion guys but he is no councillor . He doesn't know the signs. He doesn't know which questions to ask. We get sent many young KIDS from New Zealand from their families with great hopes for their kids. Parents may be reluctant to place their trust in our club.
JT is a terrible man manager and showing in everything he is doing.
We will lose Marty, Moses, Woods and maybe more whilst we have this imposter as head coach.
We came equal last this year and we are losing key players with valuable experience . Next year will be our darkest in our short history. JT will get axed between now and then but the damage will be done . How much damage he is allowed to do is the question. There are people on this forum that support him no matter what. So expect some cracking comments below. Good luck

The gloves are now off ..Farah is going all out to ruin Taylors career all the markers are being called in , the player had a coach so what happened there who knows…. I now read Taylor is responsible for someone nearly committing suicide that will do me !

How do you know? Believe it or not, you don't have to be a councillor to help someone through issues. Especially if you are close enough to them and you know them.

The telling thing to me is the fact we have players doing the welfare/psychological roles. Could you imagine Wayne Bennett getting Sam Thaiday to keep an eye on a fringe player who isn't doing too well? Or Trent Robinson asking Maloney to do so? Thankfully it didn't end up in with the worst case scenario.

And that is it in a nutshell, we are not professional, and JT is not fixing this problem, he is quite possibly making it worse.

This thread might as well just be merged into the Farah thread, cos its the same opinions.

Correct. Just an article to try and glorify Farah and demonize taylor.

Actually, if I were going through a rough patch at the Broncos, I can't imagine a better man to keep an eye on me than Sam Thaiday. I'd much rather Sam than some professional councilor.

Does this worry anyone else?

"I know there are other blokes at the Tigers who feel the same way … the lack of communication, the isolation," he said. "They are younger than me and they may not feel able to talk up. I worry about their state of mind."

The sad thing is Akauola is a pawn. His issues are being put aside, and the only reason people are bringing them up at all is to use as a vehicle to further push the anti-JT barrel.

Yes absolutely I could and it would happen every year with every club and coach. A young bloke is unlikely to open up to any head coach and this has consistently been identified as an issue for clubs. Given this they appoint welfare managers but also go through senior players given the likelihood to feel free to speak to people who aren't the coach who decides if you play or get signed again

What about the Coach who worked with Sita week in week out….never mind

I would hardly call it histrionics NT tiger when our club had a young guy commit suicide not that long ago, and I am in a job that requires serious monitoring of blokes mental state and well being, and I will stand by forevertigers comments.

Fair enough from your perspective if you know exactly what the circumstances were.
It sounds to me like Taylor had the situation in hand and had someone with a better connection to Akauola dealing with it sensitively. It's exactly what I would have done. Looks like it was handled well to me.
20/20 hindsight is always easy.

Rod Reddy the dinosaur was bought in to help improve morale for players in the state cup etc, keep them in the loop.

Thats how it they described his role in the pre season.

Everyone knows he is a dinosaur who offers nothing so this sort of stuff is not really a surprise, but pretty sad.

And together with Taylor, who seems about as popular as cancer seem like they have an unhappy camp and a club captain/legend who has been treated poorly. Taupau wants out etc.

What a mess this club is.

So we're throwing what one two bit radio personality said into all this, (without any source btw) and we're going to add it into everything else.

Sounds legit.
