How pathetic is our club?

This thread might as well just be merged into the Farah thread, cos its the same opinions.

Disagree, i want to read about this without scrolling through garbage rumours.

All the best to Akoala, hopefully he is on the mend, really go's to show something that seems small may not be.

This is the only genuine comment in the entire thread imo.

Rod Reddy the dinosaur was bought in to help improve morale for players in the state cup etc, keep them in the loop.

Thats how it they described his role in the pre season.

Everyone knows he is a dinosaur who offers nothing so this sort of stuff is not really a surprise, but pretty sad.

And together with Taylor, who seems about as popular as cancer seem like they have an unhappy camp and a club captain/legend who has been treated poorly. Taupau wants out etc.

What a mess this club is.

So we're throwing what one two bit radio personality said into all this, (without any source btw) and we're going to add it into everything else.

Sounds legit.

Sorry,

Everything is going great in Tiger town…..

What I took from the article is that a lower grade player was down about playing out of position and not performing, so the coach and senior players kept an eye on him.

How this turned into another Taylor bashing thread shows how off their heads some people are.

So you can confirm that Taupau ''wants out''?

**_Akauola says he was thankful for his family: "I know there are other blokes at the Tigers who feel the same way … the lack of communication, the isolation," he said. "They are younger than me and they may not feel able to talk up. I worry about their state of mind. I think now that I am away from the club I will be OK. I have a fresh chance at Penrith. I hope others get the chance for another start."_**

So, you don't find the above comments about the club's toxic environment concerning in any way, Abraham?

Some of you people are such suckers, Weedler has written a little bit of soap opera and you've jumped right into his arms.

The mental state of employees is not the sole responsibility of the employer. If you have depression, it is not your boss' responsibility to fix you, to formally monitor you or take responsibility for your health. The company will surely try to help you as it can, but personal issues are personal.

In this particular instance, the head coach is not even the direct line report - it would be like your company CEO being responsible for your bad feelings.

I have full sympathy for Akaoula's issues. If they were drawn from pressures of performing as a professional footballer, that is truly sad, but it's part of the job and he would have to consider whether this career is truly for him.

I hope this thread doesn't disintegrate into a platform for politics whatever the flavour (pro-Taylor or pro-Farah).

There has been one Tiger's player who has admitted to having some mental health issues and insinuations of others. Let's try and put differences aside and hope the club is doing the right thing by these players.

If it's not then we have much bigger issues than a Taylor-Farah spat.

No I don't.

That exact same scenario is replicated at every single other NRL club amongst fringe players. Young guys living away from support networks, under pressure to perform, and not always reaching the heights they had hoped for.

That's professional sport, end of story. But whatever makes you sleep better at night.

As already noted, although its a nothing article, it offers another opportunity for the Taylor bashers to mount their soap boxes.

Don't totally discount the fact that there's sour grapes involved due to having obviously been on the outer all yr. Not saying he didn't have issues, but that doesn't mean sour grapes can't exist.

Why does it matter? Its full of direct quotes.

I guess youve never heard of selective quoting.
Look it up.

While I feel for Akoula, …no....I dont really, thousand would give their left one to be in his shoes.....him saying he feels ashamed hes dropped form the 25 is a bit reflective of today generation, I mean it sounds like its the worst thing thats ever happened to him, a result of every player getting an award and conratulated just for participating, the first sign of negativity or trouble and its the end of the world.

I wouldnt put much stock in anything Weidler puts his name to and its quite interesting the majority here is so eager to take his word as gospel when more often than not he is condemned and ridiculed by those same people as a fabricating BS artist

Weve heard Lote, Blair, Fafits extolling the virtues of there new, profesional clubs after leaving us. Its nothing new.
The Broncos & Roosters probably have full time psychiatrists and psychologist on their payroll, we'd have the number for LifeLine on the dressing room wall

I don't understand your little 'whatever makes you sleep better at night' quip at the end of your comment, but thanks for answering my question - it was a legitimate one :unamused:

Its like some here think a football club should be some kind of psycho-nanny state keeping a watchful eye on every twitch.
Get real. The kid said he had some issues and talked to other players about it. Taylor monitored the situation. Job done!
If the situation had deteriorated, no doubt professional counsellors are available. Never got to that. Good job Taylor et-al.

In your initial question you said the club is 'toxic'.

That to me is going along with the drama queens laying the boot in at every chance, as if it's the club's fault the bloke didn't live up to expectation.

Did I misunderstand you? If so, no dramas.
