Hull FC sign Wade McKinnon

BUMMER!

Does this mean we are making space for Moltzen? Or leaving it open for Brown (who by all reports is regarded highly by Sheens?), Mullaney or Meaney?

WITH 12 rounds of this year's Super League left a signing frenzy for next season is under way.
Yesterday, Hull FC signed Wests Tigers' full-back Wade McKinnon, 30, on a three-year deal.
He replaced Leeds Rhinos' Brent Webb at New Zealand Warriors in 2008 and has also played for South Sydney and Parramatta.
Australian agent Chris Orr is trying to conclude several deals before he heads home on Monday.
Castleford Tigers' half-back Rangi Chase, 25, is one player that interests clubs Down Under.
Orr said: "I am meeting Tigers CEO Richard Wright to see where things lie, although I'm mindful they gave him his chance in Super League."

Are we releasing him at the end of this season now are we?

I hope to god if this is the case that Mitch Brown is ready to put pen to paper with us, because I will lose it if we let him go and we're left with Moltzen in the #1.

McKinnon is a competent fullback who is at the end of his career and injury prone. It should not be a challenge to sign a replacement, if we dont have one already. I like Brown at fullback, not a fan of Moltzen there.

Has to be Brown at this stage unless we have someone externally planned . No one else at the club is ready yet to be an NRL fullback

McKinnon leaves the club just as he came in - with a surprise announcement that none of the apparently well-connected people on this forum saw coming…

A reasonably sensible move I'd have thought for all concerned - we need to have a more long-term plan for FB than a 30 year old with major injury problems and McKinnon gets to earn some nice coin in the ESL.

Thanks for your efforts Wade and good luck over there!

What can you say, good luck to him but why sign him up for next year then let him go? Hopefully we will now sign Brown to a new contract. :deadhorse:

Is that effective immediately though? I read it as next season.

Your right in the sense that we need to have long term plan for FB and McKinnon should be allowed to go chase retirement cash, but I seriously question whether we have had an anointed replacement working with McKinnon ready to take over.

Bugger, Bugger, Double Bugger. Well its not as though we havent got options for fullback though, maybe he can teach Mitch Brown how to back up and feed off robbie and big keiths offloads, he should take note of this.

Looks like he was given an early release to free up some cash, possibly to resign his replacement Mitch Brown. Smart move by the Tigers, and better to let McKinnon go at the end of his season while we've got the best out of him. Has to stay in the number 1 though injury permitting for the rest of the season.

I dont believe it unless it is announced by Official WT site.

A release is big especially for a player who is one of the first picked each week.

We should stop all the Blair nonsense and make a play for Boyd. Gidley has said he wants to play fullback for the Knights, Titans pulled out of discussions, doesn't look like the Dragons can afford him. I know Darius had his issues with Sheens over picking Lote over him in the tests… but 500 grand should fix that.

I dont want boyd he has no soul - I cant stand his head.

I would rather Ennis here and thats saying something

Not a bad proposition. I'd happily have Boyd at the Tigers. While I'd love to have Blair, I don't think he is going to fix the attitude of our forwards.
