Seen our halves play as bad as this season. I'm not sure what has happened but we even struggle to complete our sets on the 5th. Feels as thow we are a rudderless ship, this is the worst I've seen Brooks play and I'm a fan. Maguire needs to settle this and sack Benji and partner Brooks with someone that won't over call him. I'd even go Brooks @7 nd liddle at 6 and Harry at 9 just to see if Brooks can come good with the keys to our team . Your thoughts?

I’ve supported him over the years but I think Brooks needs a change of scenery.

If we are planning on playing fox at the back and AD at 6, need a new 7.

Brooks gets over called because he doesn't have the leadership ability to make calls himself. Marshall makes the calls because Brooks just doesn't have the confidence to do it himself. He's too introverted.

For 4 years Brooks has been told this is “Your” Team...we are still waiting.....perhaps with a younger halves partner and hooker...Brooks will take ownership....

i thought brooks was getting more first ball today, it didnt change anything
Had a solid 10 minutes and went missing pretty much

It's been apparent for years Brooks isn't a real half. I don't see him go through any thought process with his plays. It's robotic and predictable - he literally repeats the same set plays and backline sweeps that are done at training. His dummy and left foot step get eaten alive by every forward in the league. His only asset is his speed - he thrives in broken play and is a good support runner. He can do the basics but you're stretching for much more.

Watch the good halves in the comp. They structure sets and control the tempo for their team. The creative ones create overlaps and put players through gaps. Brooks just doesn't do this stuff - even in his best seasons he was pretty average in terms of what you'd expect from a half, he just managed to make a few notable plays picking up loose balls or making busts from offloads.

As the 4th best player in your spine, he's fine. He'd do well enough as the halfback for the Roosters, Storm or Raiders but we're relying on him to be our star member of the spine. It's clear as day he isn't that. A team with Luke Brooks as its key player hasn't and never will make the finals. He absolutely needs to be moved on (as does Benji which really goes without saying).

Post of the week 🏆

I will tell you whose impressed me the last couple of weeks. Adam Clune. I don’t want to be one of those “we should look into signing him” guys, but if we could get that kind of output from Brooks, a lot the hate for him would cease.

Fully agree.

Either premeditates the run, or passes without engaging the line first.
Needs to go to the line and go out the back or dummy and run.

But as you said i don't think he has this cognitive ability

On a lighter note:
I have never seen wests tigers win 25 - 18 since I've been picking the score .......:confounded: 😢

He is also not naturally aggressive. I believe that his long combination with his louder junior five eighth partner only exacerbated these problems.

Great post.
Add to this with original post I am a Brooks supporter as well mainly based upon his loyalty within the BIG 4 at the time.
When Madge became coach it was clear he was looking at Brooks to take ownership.
It just hasn’t happened and time to move him on from his long term deal.
See everything had fine quiet on Mybe as well let’s hope that him and a few others are also moved on and Marshall retires.

Foran looked better today in a losing side for the Dogs today than most of our halves options have all year. Just an observation, not saying we should sign him.
