If Lazarus doesnt play this week, why......

Lazarus is a top 35 player NOT top 25.
He is contracted to WestsTigers.
But others around here will tell you differently..
End of story.

Hopefully, if he is chosen, it will be from the bench. Although my preference is for Blake to be overlooked this time around.

Great question. I'd understand if Taumata was ready to go but he's doubtful. Lazarus would be the ideal choice.

Knuckles who do you want there? Surely not the Fitz?

Even if Taumata was available, as far as halfbacks go I would rather pick a player who has played there (Blake) then one that has not (Arana).

I'd rather someone who has played grade than have someone who hasn't, that's why I'd prefer Taumata. Ideally I'd prefer to ease Lazarus into grade but with the situation we're in we have no choice.

Arana's grade experience is fairly neglible. Blake has been around the the top side for three seasons, it is now or never in my view. He's ready.

It feels like groundhog day today, but he is not part of the top 25\. Your argument is actually a possible reason he might not be picked.

Just for the record, I want to see him named in the 7.

he is part of the squad

Biography
Blake Lazarus is a talented young player with good ball skills and a fine kicking game who is also an accomplished goal-kicker.

Lazarus is hoping for a better change of luck in 2010 after undergoing two knee reconstructions over the past two seasons.

**A member of the NRL full-time squad, Lazarus has worked hard over the summer to get his knee right.**

Off the field, Lazarus won the Wests Tigers U20s community award and does an enormous amount of positive charity work for the club.

No one is disputing that. The question is whether he is in the top 25 and therefore whether or not his inclusion may have salary cap consequences.

Lazarus was 18th man in Canberra less than two weeks ago. Salary cap consequences here is a non-issue..

he will not miss the game because of him being part of the 2nd tier cap.

if sheens thinks he is the best man for the job,he will play.

Im not saying it would, I was simply referring to FHG's original point.

I wouldnt have thought it would have mattered either, particularly at this time of the year. However, a lot of people have used this as the reason why Sheens wont promote our state cup players.

I thought he was a part of the 25?

I think Lazarus is apart of the Top 40 Squad named by Humphries at the start of the year which only had 38 players. This was before the Tuqiri announcement…

accroding to my official 2010 season guide our top 25 is

1\. Farah
2\. Ayshford
3\. Brown
4\. Cayless
5\. Daniela
6\. Dwyer
7\. Ellis
8\. Fitzhenry
9\. Fulton
10\. Galloway
11\. Gibbs
12\. Heighington
13\. Lawrence
14\. Lui
15\. Marshall
16\. Moltzen
17\. Payten
18\. Roqica
19\. Ryan
20\. A.Shirnack
21\. J.Shirnack
22\. Taumata
23\. Tuiaki
24\. Tuqiri
25\. Woods

While on the subject of Tim Moltzen's replacement, Top 25/40 FG squad and the salary cap, perhaps its time that the NRL look at the issue of long term injuries. The AFL has in place a long term injury list (meaning out for season) which I think allows another player/rookie to replace the injured player. Not sure if this means that the injured players portion of his salary is excluded from the cap for that season.

The Salary Cap should be in place for players who are available to play….........rather than simply contracted for a particular season. In Moltzens case, for instance, his portion of his salary (Round 6 onwards) would be excluded for this season thus allowing the club to say bring on Lazzo and pay him accordingly.

Any thoughts.
