If we beat warriors Taylor is a genius

Only if they are willing to grind out wins, the forwards are capable. Whether the mental toughness is there remains to be seen.

Hello guys from a Warriors supporter just giving a bit of our fan perspective. I quite like the look of particularly your starting 13\. I was impressed with Littlejohn at Manly and I reckon he could be a real bonus for you blokes.

As for us, doom and gloom after the Dragons trial. However we usually smash someone in the last trial and fall in a heap at the first game. Everyone talks about the spine we have but the word coming out from the club is that defence is the key. They should know that but this is the Warriors. Didn't work against the Dragons but a few embarrassed players have held up their hands over their attitude for that game. Why that attitude is another very long discussion.

Our best signing this year has been Jim Doyle as CEO. He signed Luke and RTS but has been shaking the tree at the Warriors getting the front office right. Something that has been missing since inception really. Before management were more concerned with jersey sales than on field results. Doyle wants results and expects everyone to perform on and off field. He has sorted out at least one player agent already.

On field it appears Gavet is a certainty for the bench along with Vete and Lisone. Otherwise pretty settled except for Centre. A log jam of Hurrell, Kata, Lolohea, Ayshford there, my gut tells me (and there is a lot of it) that the starting team (IMO) will be RTS, Lolohea, Hurrell, Kata Vatuvei, Robson, Johnson, Matulino, Luke, Lillyman, Hoffman(C), Henry/Thompson, Mannering, Vete, Lisone Gavet, Thompson/Henry.

I am a Warriors fan but looking at the odds if you want to forego the Friday night fish and chips a quiet $10.00 on your mob mightn't hurt. Our blokes will come right but it maybe a bit early.

Anyway guys best of luck for the season, we will all be cheering and screaming in equal measure as usual.

With no Farah ,Brooks ,Edwards and Halatau you should beat us

The Warriors have the potential to be a force to be reckoned with in this competition, they always have had. They just have never had it upstairs. You can have all the braun in the world, but you can't do anything with it if you don't have the brains. If they had a Bennett, Bellamy or even Maguire leading them they'd be unstoppable. That's still the piece of their puzzle that's missing and that will hold them back imo.

Looks like it'll be pretty warm, predicted to be 35 degrees so by 5:30 it wont be a lot different, maybe 32-35 degrees. So as usual it'll probably come down to who can control the ball best. I think there wont be a lot in it, both teams will play a little conservatively given the heat especially early on but near the end of each half expect some fatigue and a more open game. As usual should be plenty of points as in that heat cant expect teams to be great defensively all game unless it's very stop start. Just hoping we can get plenty of fans out there. It's a multicultural theme so maybe something light and airy might be the go, a sarong and T shirt eh?

A chance to wear my wests tigers speedos and thongs

it has been in the 30's over here as well, very good point about ball control being key. I saw an interview with Matulino who said they have been training well but did not have the right attitude against the Dragons and they are embarrassed and need to make good.

A lot of us think the key for the Warriors will be Luke, Hooker has been a problem area for years, Nathan Friend is a courageous little bloke but is pretty ineffective both sides of the ball. Losing Leuluei last year was up there with Johnson.

We have the potential, but potential means you haven't done anything.

Isaac Luke will be the key for NZ. He is a step up from the other Hookers NZ have had. Cherrington V Luke hopefully won't be to much of a mismatch. Cherrington has the speed but Luke could be devastating if he gets NZ on a roll. Stopping him will be tough

Round one and the next few are often tosses of the coin, but Im not confident if we go in with as many rookies as I think we might

Hopefully the heat will knock the bigger warriors around

The size of the Warriors forwards though once true is a bit of a myth now, generally used as one of the media's cliches they seem to have for all teams. Souths, Dogs, Raiders and Roosters are all way bigger than the Warriors as an example. : :deadhorse:

Thanks for that information watcher however I was focussing on this weeks game in the heat against the Warriors whom I believe are a larger team and may not adjust to the heat.

As well as the heat going for us, is warriors are favorites which now means they are expected to win and win comfortably. They normally don't do we win under pressure.

Pre the Dragons trial all us Warriors fans were really confident going into the Tigers game. Not so now. However that is a good thing and a kick in the pants often does a team good attitude wise. I reckon it will be typical early season game with mistakes and dubious options.

Hopefully we see a good game and both sets of supporters can be satisfied with their sides showing win or lose. All the best Tigs.
