Inglis hopefully out.

He's gotta get at least week, there may not have been intent to hit him high but it's still reckless contact and pretty severe contact at that.

We'll see if there's one rule for some and another for the rest. If Adam Blair had done that we wouldn't see him for weeks. The knock-on rules don't seem to apply to Inglis in SOO, so we'll see if the high tackle rules do!

BTW the rules applying to whether you are a Queenslander or a NSWelshman don't seem to apply to Inglis either.

Nor the salary cap….

Hit gone wrong, very dangerous, should get 5 weeks but will probably only get 2\. Hit someone in the jaw and they'll get knocked out, good thing the old cricket pitches are no more. Tough isn't an excuse and hitting someone in the head isn't tough. Inglis didn't have to race in an put on the shoulder in the context of the play, a simple wrapping tackle is more than enough. Poor judgement, poor execution led to an illegal and dangerous play.

I like shoulder charges but when they go wrong they should be punished. Running in like that at speed and jumping and pushing upward into the head is every bit as dangerous as a swinging arm. The fact a shoulder charge to the head might only get 1-2 and a swinging arm 4-5 is ridiculous.
To save the shoulder charge the penalty for one gone wrong needs to become more severe, then players will have to time and execute them properly.

Another week, another team who lost a player for the majority of the game due to concussion from illegal high contact.

In relation to Teo's hit on Groat earlier in the year, it was Teo's shoulder that made contact with Groat's head. The Inglis hit on Young looks a little different as it looks to be combo of Inglis upper arm/lower shoulder, but the fact that contact is made with Young's head, and he was knocked out cold…I can't see Inglis getting off.

Thats crap ink.
That shot was waaaay worse than Teo's on Groat.

Care to expand…elaborate??
Why is it worse?

I think Young being tackled from behind by Farrell I think, makes the whole thing worse, prevents young from using footwork.
Both Young and Inglis were at full pace heading towards each other.....Inglis braced himself for the impact.
Im not saying he should escape suspension.....precedents have already been set

Not good Willow Its a blindside

haha get a clue

IMO it was a good hit. He didn't lead with the shoulder and it was made to look worse because young wasn't looking where he was going. It was brutal I honestly don't know if I've seen a bigger hit. Contact looks more to be chest/collarbone then shoulder

a big strong hit , no blindside cheap shot at all.
young was running straight down the middle and inglis lined him up.
contact appears to hit his shoulder first then move up .they could get him for a reckless i suppose but seeing it on you tube i dont think it was a send off.
How many Souths players do we need out to beat them ?we needed a win to make the semis a few years back and got beat in golden point with at least 6 of their players out .if Kasiano can get off i suppose the nrl can let inglis off.

you lot are on drugs - go back and watch the "GOOD HIT"

First contact was on Young's jaw FFS.

Inglis showed no remorse as well which makes it worse.

This is the same grub who lashed out at Geoff Daniella in a tackle with his feet, and may have contributed to Daniella's season ending pectoral injury last year.

A dirty player.

A grub of a human being.

There is a reason you barely ever get a microphone in his face off the field compared to other superstars of the game.

Haha….what sort of remorse do you want him to show?
Tears?
Some moaning and wailing?
Black armband?
Fair dinkum. :unamused:

Personal dislikes coming to the fore here I think.
First contact if you care to look at the images shows Inglis' elbow contacting Youngs upper arm/shoulder

If I'm souths Im not too botherd, I think they get full strength team back for the semis, theyre basically assuerd of top 4 almost....better this now than later.

if he does get suspended, I hope wests-tigers don't go into the game with a false mindset.
the one of Inglis is not here, so we have already won the game, all we have to do is run on, kick off and the game will be ours.

Not an Inglis fan but should not even have been on report - he couldn't go low Young was looking around for support to presumably pass to Inglis had to go for ball and all tackle

Message was sent last week high contact is not allowed _ sometimes

We've seen Souths beat us when they have had 9 players out (2010)

If their is any any chance we will go into the game at less than 100% Sheens needs to show them this game at least twice just to remind them what can happen when you relax and take a win for granted

Hopefully No Inglis to kick a field goal this time. Short turnaround and playing in Townsville won't help but should be a great match all the same

Inglis should get at least 2 weeks. 2-5 id say. His record may keep him towards 2 but he won't be playing next weekend. Pritchard and Teo's etc weren't as bad as that and both got weeks. No Luke and no Inglis next week. Doesn't mean I'm confident but its as good a chance to beat Souths as we could ask.

Sheens could pull 50 games out to show what can happen. But he wont because he accepts mediocricy from his team.

Yeah good point 1/4

Thats just the one that stands out for me

Thought it was a great hit. No swinging arm, no raised elbow. Hit him front on. Got him in the head but Young was falling due to the legs tackler bringing him down at the wrong moment. I'll accept the week but really not much in it

people are saying young's head hit inglis just below the shoulder and that he was falling in the tackle
if he didn't fall, inglis would've hit young on the head from the shoulder right?

imo, whenever you go for a shoulder charge, there will always be an element of risk to it
inglis chose to go for the shoulder charge as he has for years and this time, it didn't pay off
not that this is taken much into consideration, but the consequence was young getting knocked out pretty badly

risks are just that, risks. i myself am very conscious about protecting the head of a player, and this should get some time.

Rightly or wrongly the NRL has drawn the line in the sand that if your making a tackle with your shoulder & you accidentally come into contact with the opponent's head you will be charged. Had a laugh when i heard Price trying to compare it to Prior's tackle on Thurston, one's cocked his elbow & the other's braced his shoulder.
