Isaiah Papali’i #265

They won't let it happen.

Honestly...it would be the ultimate act of waving the white flag and saying we won't stay strong / the polar opposite of Melb.

I have followed the Tigers for over 40 years and 'releasing' IP would prob be the final straw, even for me.

The club knows this.

It won't happen. Not on Sheen's watch...
Considering Sheen's is coaching the next 2 years you have to think he stay strong on this..

On a side note why are Eels not getting in trouble for trying to get him to re-neg anyway as he signed a contract..

Anyway fingers crossed we see him in Tigers colours next year

I don’t know how I made your point? Sure though lol

If two parties who are well managed and directed come to an agreement with respect to certain conditions, then they’ll be enforced by the Court.

The removal of a cooling off period doesn’t make the contract unenforceable nor will the Court insert it into any contract

Making my point again

Don’t know why you’re getting so triggered

I mean whether he is a barrister/lawyer or barrista doesn’t really bother me

He is right in that the cooling off period doesn’t apply

Kudos to you on your job, hopefully you get very far with your knowledge of the fundamental principles of a contract, however, stop digging at others

Yeah no worries, I get called an arrogant bell end, dickhead etc, all the time speaking the truth about Contract Law, without calling anyone names, and not getting contradicted. But Im getting triggered....rightio.

Not the same....

AFB had a clash with some of the other Manly players.

TPJ had a horrible contract the Broncs 'wanted' gone.

Walsh a one off...was leaving anyway and has a child, at 19, in Bris.

DCE did it when you 'were' able to backflip.

IP cannot get out of it and is our biggest signing in years.

He can sulk, he can even sit out...but he would not be paid and heavily fined.

This is a player who was on very little in NZ and massively underpaid at Parra.

He is not sitting out on almost two million dollars at his age.

ONLY way out is Sheens lets him out. That won't happen.
They all have a reason outside the terms of their contract and no doubt Papalii will find one too if he is trying to pull out. That you can be sure of.

They all had 'reasons'...and clubs who then gave in to those reasons.

Like us with Moses and Matterson.

My point is, and the club knows this, that we cannot allow it to happen again.

Melb don't allow it. Rorters don't allow anyone they want to go...

The club is well aware that this is a line in the sand moment.

I'm with you but I don't think it's the position clubs take because it doesn't go down well with players( not just the player in question) or their managers.

Q. Seriously, why would IP not honour his contract with us?

A. He loves his Eels brothers too much!
Bullshit. He is a footballer & knows he would form new bonds at the Tigers plus the ones he already has with us. When he signed initially with us, he was aware if this.

A. He just wanted to play under Madge.
Whilst it may have been an attraction for him, he would know coaches are moved on & I’m sure Sheens/Marshall aren’t a turnoff.

A. He only wants to play in a winning team with some hope of premiership success.
Bullshit! He would know the Eels chance is this year then it won’t get any more likely for the Eels. When he signed for the Tigers, if he had half a brain he would realise, we are a few years off contending & he can help lead us towards it.

A. Eels are offering more money now.
If he has any integrity, this would not matter now as you cannot break a contract for more money.

So to me this just smells of his management trying it on for more money but knowing that unless we back down, he is coming to us.

At this rate I would would be happier to play for the KOE cup eels than to be forced to honour a contract with the tigers.

Shouldn't it come down to this simple fact.

I Papali'i has a rugby league contract for next 3 seasons with Wests Tigers...

If he does not want to play rugby league for Wests Tigers he doesn't play rugby league, he can sit out the next 3 seasons (refer G Tallas 90's).

Still nothing stopping him retiring from rugby league and going to play rugby union...

The head in the sand approach - that will work.....
Everyone quotes the Tallis situation....

You know that was 30 years ago, for 12 months only
- And when there wasn't a players union and the rise of greedy player managers.

Get real man, It will soften the blow for you....

Yep - he will be playing somewhere next year that you can be sure of.

When he comes to WT next year he won't be sitting in reserve grade.
He will train with the boys in the off season.
He will work with Sheens and the boys and bond with a few players in particular.
As it gets closer to season kick off he'll be chewing at the bit to play football because it's in his blood to do so.
You don't become a professional athlete from sitting on your hands.
Once the season starts and we put in some good performances then all his gripes will fade away.....😻
