Hope they are adding membership refunds in

It's not good

But let's not blame this on the tiger's

Totally out of our hands

They need our support right now

This is so true and i hope everyone remembers this. The club has done an outstanding job to recover from some very bad years. They deserve nothing but credit. This was out of our hands and is pretty much the tedesco incident all over again with a good young player picking a better team with better facilities and sponsorship ie Nathan.

Im 100% behind the guys running the club.

I sent an email to Pascoe this morning congratulating him on the job the club were doing and how they have handled this current situation. More of us should do this - he appreciated my words of encouragement and I’m sure he’d appreciate knowing he has our support

Just sent one myself. Come on forumers, if you appreciate the efforts of Pascoe (and Go) send him an email of support.

Quote from Foxsports.com

“Griffin confirmed he and Gould sometimes went up to six weeks without speaking, and Gould tried to undermine him by speaking to coaching staff without Griffin’s knowledge or consent”

A general manager doesn’t need to ask permission to speak to anyone in an organisation. The only managers who act this way are control freaks and typically are insecure about their relationship with their team (in this case coaching staff)

Based on the above I am now reducing how much weight Griffins comments have on my opinion.

I am not a Gould fan but…

The Chairman and Ivan are mates
The Chairman has likely pushed for Ivan’s return
Gould hates Griffin and goes along with it

I struggle to see the scenario where Gould orchestrates it.
I can see that he go behind it, eg “we will release Nathan if he wants to move to play for his dad”.

I’m so torn. Gould has had this coming for years but ironically is probably copping far more now than he deserves. I may still be okay with that

Gould is the general manager.

He is the big boss at Penrith.

He is responsible for football decisions.

If he truly did not know about Ivan what does it say about the respect people have for him within the organisation if the Chairman is essentially trying to appoint the next coach with Gould knowing nothing about it??

More likley, its just another in a pack of lies form Gus to try and gloss over what is an increasing repetitional and PR disaster for him and his club.

The longer we stick to our guns, the worse it’s going to look for Penrith. Stay ruthless.

Agree 100%.

Our season is gone

Surely Nathan will struggle this weekend.

They tried to humiliate us by thinking they couuld take from us and we’d give Ivan a hearty handshake on the way out the door. That was our role, to roll over like good little lapdogs. Not on Pascoe’s watch. They tried to humiliate us, so you know what, we humiliate them by dragging this out for as long as possible and make them look like idiots. Make them look like the basket case. After all, they’re the club who sacked their coach a month out from the finals while in 5th spot and looking good to finish in the top 4\. Why let it get it turned around on us. We didn’t start this fight, but we can damn sure finish it.

There are no winners in Clearygate, only losers.
Penrith have come out looking very bad
Gould is finally being shown what he is all about
Ivan’s integrity has take a massive hit
Hook has lost his job
WestsTigers are now faced with the call…do we really want a coach who wants out

What ever happens here the club has handled themselves professionally. ThIs can only be helpful when negotiating with players and coaches in the future. The place has turned around a lot in the last couple of years.

Yep. It seems pretty obvious that Penrith just assumed we'd role over, release Cleary and let them get on with things while we got shafted. I'm glad we've drawn a line in the sand so maybe next time other CEOs don't think we're a pushover.

What's he going to do? Suggest dud tactics for the next two seasons? I think it'll be fine if he stays. A part of me would welcome us waiting for Penrith to sign a new coach, release Ivan from his contract with us and see what happens. Gus might explode…

How do you even determine if a coach doesn’t want to be at a club. It’s not like a player and you can clearly see they are dogging it. A coach’s job is all internal. There’s nothing to show his heart isn’t in what he’s doing.

Maybe if he plays small players at prop and suggests John Morris is the Cooper Cronk… Wait a minute!

[Loving the NYD avatar btw]

Ivan Cleary addressed the Wests Tigers players on Wednesday morning for the first time since news broke of Penrith's plan to lure him back.

NRL.com understands he couldn't guarantee where he would be next season. He couldn't lie to his players, admitting he had a tough family decision to make.

The Tigers have called an extraordinary board meeting on Wednesday night to discuss the future of the organisation, however as it stands Cleary has not yet asked for a release and is not expected to front the board.

Also fox sports are reporting that Nathan has just resigned till 2024 with Penrith. If this IS the case were screwed.

its Hooper, pulling a story from nothing

FYI. Hooper is a WT's supporter.

But loves taking the club through the mud at any opportunity. If there is an opportunity to do so, don't worry he will take it.

Had a funny way of showing it last year when he was helping Woods throw us under the bus. Awesome supporter.

You could be right.

Most of the time the Chairman has far more control than a GM. At that Gould is a part time GM.

Influence and control are very different. Gould like has huge influence. That doesn’t mean he controls what other boardmembers do.

It’s pretty clear what has happened here when you look at the timeline. Brent Read broke the story on Monday and stated WT officials uncontactable. After getting Ivan in on a meeting under false pretences Penrith made a play for his services. Ivan Cleary has entertained the idea clouded by the idea of coaching his son at a club with a better roster, better facilities and his mates there on the proviso he sits down with Pascoe. Gould uses this as the excuse to sack Griffin. Penrith leak to the Media to begin the destabilisation of the Tigers thinking they will roll over quick with a compensation package. Tigers deny any request for any release.

Penrith now deny everything and Gould gets exposed by Griffin as a manipulator and everything decision is made by Gus. Now damage control for Cleary and Penrith as he now will destroy his reputation if he leaves.

Cleary will have to explain this if he stays as the players will understand the impact of a family based decision.

I like what you’re saying. Could be feasible.

What I don’t like is Gould stating Cleary won’t ask for release. We have no coach. Tigers won’t let Cleary go etc etc. He’s a lying, manipulative toad - I don’t trust him - there’s more to come I think

You mean Brent Read from the Australian. Doesn’t go’s husband work there?

Agendas everywhere. Seems like an old school vs new school lesson in media has taken place here.

Let’s see the real outcome in a few days

Have a read….

Gus always had a low opinion of the WT even in 05 and always about Wests. Don't know his views on Balmain.
Anyway he believed we would fold a couple of years at ago so thinks he can walk over our club.
The 80s are dead and this could be his undoing. Especially if they loose Nathan.
