I’ll ask Geo !!

I was impressed when Pascoe said that " he will not get a release if he asks for one "
But…..
Why did Pascoe say in his words " We will fight to tooth and nail to keep him " why would you say that if you know his Contracted to us for another 2 years.....there is nothing to fight over you have just said his not getting a release .

Behind closed doors things and truths are spoken hence why Ivan has secretly made a deal with the Panthers already.
Put the Jigsaw pieces together it ain't that hard .

What makes you so sure Ivan has "secretly made a deal with the panthers already"? perhaps he has but it would seem completely out of character to do so.

Sorry jad didn't mean to sound like an actual deal had been done , my Opinion is that something has been nutted out as Ivan could of come out and put it to bed by now.

There's nothing to suggest we are being played. Not to say it won't happen. But its unfair to assume based on little or no info.

Gone…

Baze I got no idea how accurate your Mail is but i have no doubt that you are 100% correct .

If true? Big IF!!!!! Pascoe and Go are going to look like fools by what they have said that no release will be Granted .
Will soon find out .

Depends what we get in return. I'll be very disappointed if we don't make them sweat it out. If we do release him, ignore them till the day after their season finishes. Till then, let it sabotage their run to the finals.

Whatever is agreed upon, we have a right to know. Even if its money. I know those matters are usually sensitive, but these are extraordinary circumstances. Full disclosure is owed.

Not much we can do GNR , Ivan would rather tarnish his reputation and sell himself out to a germ in Gus Gould who sacked him just to be with his son.
I'm still hoping the Club stands by what they say but this is all part of the payout process.

Outplayed, outsmarted.
Amateurs!

Why? 2 years is a long time to hold a coaching job open. Eg Ciraldo takes Penrith to a premiership( this year or next) I Cleary continues Tigers club improvement but no premiership. N Cleary signs extension to 2020 with Penrith to align with dads contract. New Penrith young gun half is killing it and wants to play first grade but doesn't want to be stuck behind N Cleary. 2021 who's going to be the coach at Penrith?Are they going to dump a premiership winning coach who the players like for a coach whose average win rate is below 50% and has never won a premiership and costs twice as much? Are they going let go a gun half back for someone on a massive contract who's not much better?
Possible outcome: Ciraldo and some players goes to Tigers in 2021? Young gun half(can't remember name)goes to Tigers for half the price of N Cleary allowing quality players to be signed? Tigers win premiership in 2021??
Are we outsmarted, outplayed? Major gamble to sign someone 2.5 years early. Either way we could end up winners!
So many questions , so many twists???. The only thing sure is that there is a long way to go in this drama!

They are playing the game of poker mate. There is no better way than how they are approaching the situation.
You don’t really expect them to say they would grant a release and get nothing in return.

Yep your right but they are going to cop the backlash from the Members and fans down the track .

The media will be all over this , you can see it .
The media asking Pascoe at a later Date after granting Ivan a release , Why are you disappointed in Ivan's actions asking for a release ? Pascoe reply…. We signed Ivan in good faith and that the Contract will be honoured , gave him total control of our Club and believed in his vision , we all bought into it . The Journo then asks But it was O.K to break JT's Contract when it suited the Club , Pascoe replies i'm here to talk about Ivan not what has happened in the past .

What a Circus this is going to be , never ending being a Wests Tigers supporter.

What’s ‘hilarious’ and ‘comival’ Is experienced and valued posters taking the piss out of all the other posters who are just writing genuine, heart felt opinions about stuff we care about. Less sarcasm might actually encourage more people to contribute

Don't see where it was said no one cares or cant post their heart felt opinions

Its funny because people basing their opinions on what is reported in the media were ready to string him up and run Cleary out of dodge….then when facts are presented from the club it's a total backflip....

But hey it was on TV..and in the paper

People are responding emotionally to every ‘next bit’ of information. Me too. That’s to be expected.

Initially I think everyone was shocked that someone we respected could act totally against what he seemed to value. This turned to anger when it seemed to be true. Now it’s just pure confusion because of all the lies and spin. We don’t know what to believe.

And I think that’s fair enough at the moment

Facts people, facts…not too many people are considering the facts. I'm an investigator so it's my bread and butter - making assumptions does not come into it - it's inherently dangerous. So let's look at the facts:

Phil Gould sacks Anthony Griffin - both have had their say in the media as to why but what we do know is - they don't get along;
Cleary is friends with a guy that works at Penrith (David O'Neill) - they catch up regularly;
O'Neill floats the idea of Ivan coming back to Penrith to coach (exactly how and when we don't know);
Ivan tells Pascoe that Penrith have made an approach to him;
Pascoe informs Ivan that IF he asks for a release, it will be denied;
Pascoe informs the Wests Tigers board including Marina Go;
Gould says Penrith have a "preferred coach" in mind but to date have 13 people interested in the job;
Gould has attempted to call Go, she has not returned his call;
Pascoe and Go both issue statements to the media and public advising that Ivan has not asked for a release, and if he does it will be denied and the Tigers will dig in (from a legal and compensation perspective) and say they won't be pushed around by other clubs;
Gould issues a statement saying he does not expect to see Ivan at Penrith next year; and
Ivan still has not sought a release.

They are the basic facts of the matter. Throw the media into it and this is where the water begins to turn muddy. The media speculates - in the rugby league world they do it all the time. They report things which simply are not true and some people are naïve enough to swallow it. For example, they said Ivan told the players he may not be there next year as he has a tough family decision to make - Marina Go confirmed this was falsely reported - but that news piece in itself sends people into hysteria and jumping to conclusions.

There is no conclusion just yet, but the facts point towards Cleary staying. If he does go, well those details are either yet to be worked out, or yet to be made public.

I haven’t jumped into this purely as most of it has been based on media speculation as to what has supposedly happened. So it’s refreshing to see a summary of the facts.

No point getting too hysterical until someone comes out and says Ivan is leaving. The difficulty might be that as someone has posted NC prefers to stay at Penrith and IC would like to coach him. Forgetting the early release WT need to find a way forward knowing IC will be leaving after 2020.

And the worst thing about this is that the Penrith supporters think that have evey right to take Ivan Cleary from 2019 and onwards because the Tigers are made by the NRL to be a cellar dweller and will be made by the NRL to hand him over.

The aim of the game was to get both Clearys.

Outplayed!

Yes we may end up with good compensation but we lost

One other possible option is that Gould might have lost some power at Penrith. That could explain Gus saying "I wouldn't stand in the way of Ivan and Nathan working together". If Gus retires from Penrith or moves to a Director only position then I could see how it makes the job more appealing to Cleary. With Gus in his current role I can't see Ivan taking the job. Also if Ivan see's out his contract with us I don't see that being an issue at all. A lot can change in one week in the NRL. Who knows what will happen in two years. It's hard to see both Panthers and Ivan wanting to lock themselves into an agreement 2 years out at this stage.

Gosh I disagree with this.

This was not outsmarted. People who stoop really low are notoriously hard to predict.

I hold my head high as a Tiges member. I back Pascoe and Go 100% in this

PS the goal of all this is to secure Cleary Jr

We were outplayed but when you play with honor against a bunch of spineless dogs, unfortunately sometimes the spineless dogs win.
