Kudos to the club for having some balls! Onwards and upwards with men that want to be here.

There doesn't appear to be many men who fit that description.

What an absolute waste of time and energy all that was. JAC just looks like a flog from every angle. The Storm should be dirty on him as well.

It really doesn’t matter though does it. It will all blow over for him and once again we’re the ones that will be painted as the fools.

Watch the media spin this one to make us look like the idiots.

Fortunately for JAC and Ivan Cleary, success will ensure the media leave you alone. Everything gets forgotten in the media when you have success.hence us constantly copping it from the media.

Offical Wests Tigers statement on Josh Addo-Carr

Wests TigersThu 12 Nov 2020, 06:54 PM
Wests Tigers have released the following media statement as there has been much speculation and reporting concerning Josh Addo-Carr and the club.

Addo-Carr is a player currently contracted to the Melbourne Storm for season 2021. Having asked for a release from his contract to return to Sydney on compassionate grounds, Wests Tigers — with permission of the Melbourne Storm — entered into discussions with Josh.

This resulted in an execution of a Heads of Agreement which provided for Addo-Carr joining Wests Tigers in 2021. This agreement was only activated upon the release of Addo-Carr from his current playing contract.

Wests Tigers have tonight been advised by the Melbourne Storm that Addo-Carr will not be granted a release.

Wests Tigers recognise and respect the current contractual arrangements in place between Josh Addo-Carr and Melbourne, and would not seek to interfere in same.

As of day 83 the JAC watch is terminated.

So should they all go?

Sounds good to me.

Lee Hagipantelis is a douche bag ..
Remember when we were in talks with Latrell and he was on tv giving the cameras the thumbs up ..
Pascoe is another flog ...
But hey we make a profit ?

The WT’s inability to close a deal after being so public about it is a bit embarrassing.

No the problem has been going after Flogs that want to use us, but I'm sure we will have heaps of people putting crap on the club in the Lament thread over the next few years. They'll be saying why did we let Latrine and now Freddie Flog go, someone should be held accountable. Lol.

At some point he wanted to come here but things seemed to shift when Barrett got the job at the Bulldogs and mega bucks to spend

I think it was when souths somehow convinced James Robert’s to walk away from a $550k contract to be on the dole

Real question is what is more frustrating:
- Watching as we throw away games like the one this year against the Titans
- Watching all the media drag out our negotiations for a rep player only to miss out
- Watching all the pre-season articles about "we're sick of watching finals on tv and this year will be different" only to miss out with 1-2 games left

Might start a poll. My vote is the second one as we're put through months of speculation, where the first one it's quick and we expect it anyway.

Mine is definately the first.
We could of made the finals 3 or 4 times in the last 5 years if we had of won games that were in our control.
Need to stop blaming others and take ownership.
Build from within like the raiders have

So the knives are out again and yet the club actually were smart in their dealings. HOA means that the Bulldogs and South's are out of the equation for 2021 leaving us as the only Sydney option if JAC was that keen to leave Melbourne.
Also forced Melbourne to up his contract to retain him. We might not of got him but we were a thorn in the side of the clubs that were also linked to him.

Mate you are spot on but I don't think people are upset at how we went about trying to sign him its more that we missed another high profile player and how the Media will just beat us up for it.. We all know we did the correct thing but you can bet your bottom dollar the media won't credit us at all because we are a "basketcase" apparently... For me I think the Storm need media asking questions to them about player welfare for keeping him for 2 years because if this was us it would be daily news... I sure hope next time we have a player that wants out that we hold firm unless it benefits us..

the HOA presumably then kicks in and he signs with us

That's not how a heads of agreement works. It's totally non binding - it's just a recognition of points on which two parties are agreed. Like, say, "if everything else works out on this move we agree to pay rent of X for Y years". There's nothing enforceable about it - it just establishes that negotiations have progressed to the point where certain key terms have been agreed.

Judging by the way this HOA seems to have concerned the competition (I think the Dogs were one of these) it may have more legal teeth than you would find in a normal HOA. I know what HOA's are and how they normally operate having spent several years working with contracts, HOA's and every variation thereof

Stark contrast.
Storms have a player who will stay for less than is being offered elsewhere. We have players who refuse to leave because we payed too much and they'd earn less elsewhere.

On a side note: what other clubs Chairman has been discussing their clubs recruitment strategy with the media? Can't think of anyone else lately... Shut Up Lee

And help from a lot of pommie imports .. but yes that seems the way forward for the club ..

The solution here is the same as it's been for years. Identify, nurture and retain good youngsters. Identify and sign undervalued talent elsewhere. Build the centre of excellence. Develop commercial relationships. Over 2-5 years, start delivering repeatable success on the field. Don't think one big name signing is going to make all the difference. Don't get lured into paying overs - money or duration - for mediocrity to "keep the fans happy".

I'd rather have two more years with no names in the side if it meant bringing through *and retaining* talented young players and having cap space to supplement that core with free agents when the time is right.

The model we should be following is clear. Penrith, Canberra, even Melbourne... these clubs aren't built on big-name free agents. Even Souths have done better with juniors and cast offs than signings (who's more important to that side: Cook, Reynolds, Walker... or Gagai and Roberts?)

That’s why I like the statement. The club knows full well that JAC has backflipped. But by putting out the statement they are putting pressure on the media to question the Storm’s negating player welfare.

watch the muppets Hooper and Buzz turn on us now, i personally am not to bothered that JAC didnt come for next year, if we get Dane Laurie next year and keep the juniors coming through I am more then happy
