Jackson Hastings #251

He played like a halfback last night despite wearing the #6 jumper, whilst Brooks played more off the cuff and ran a lot more. For me, the halves combo looks like it could work with Hastings playing more as the organiser and Brooks using his main strength which is his running. 5th tackle options still needs a lot of work from Brooks though

Not wanting to be negative, but is Jackson Hastings overweight? Looking it him compared to previous seasons he looks heavier.

I've always thought it was weird when you hear how hard Madge's teams train, yet we've had many of overweight players in the last few years.

Once again, not being negative, love Hastings and think he'll be the catalyst we need.

I think he put on some muscle cause the original plan was him at lock

But times changed

Hastings is an organiser and ball player, but is not quick. AD was nowhwere close to being an organiser, and is slow. Speed is critical , and our sides have lacked it all over the field. I see the future with Madden and Brooks in the halves, and Hastings as lock.
On a separate point Nicco HYNES to be NSW 5/8.
That's word for word from one of my posts and I got shot to ribbons, how come, have you brushed your teeth or something 😁

The Jacko experiment has been fizzer so far. Slow and dull game 1, tried hard but average game 2 and suspended games 3, 4 and 5. When he returns in rd6 we face our Easter nemesis quickly followed by one of the comp heavy weights in Souths, both at our worst performing ground.
I bet he wasn’t picturing a return to the NRL like this lol…

Wouldn't call it a fizzer just yet. He'll be a good buy.

In all fairness stryker did say so far, so there's truth in his comments as the past 2 games we really could've used his (Hastings) leadership and composure.
We'll never build cohesion, improve the team dynamics or find a winning formula until key players return.
Never really been a fan of his coaching but the last game showed the team are playing for Madge IMO and it's become obvious that he helps the inexperienced players by redirecting some of the workload (and shifting roles in the team). The issue is that it's mostly been pushed onto Brooks and its not so good for him or our attack.
I believe we would've definitely gotten 2 wins had he been playing the last fortnight.

I’m sure he will be. Just bemused by all the pre season talk and now looking at what he is facing. Not the dream return by any stretch thus far.
True. I don't know why people had such high hopes for our team this season, it was always going to be a hard slog and making the 8 was more of a fairytale than a reality. Not surprised at all where we are at the moment. Just hoping we can snag a couple of wins until the bulk of our injured blokes are back.

I feel and well hope that with Madden playing as one of our best and our only genuine halfback that the Hastings lock experiment could start sooner than later.
I guess it’s all dependant on how we go this Sunday and how Jock handles the step up again. But if I was looking for a point of difference I would be getting Hastings in the Radley role as soon as possible and giving him the duty of bringing the forwards onto the ball in the middle third. Thus creating space and a crisp pass out to a left or right side controlled by either Brooks or Madden.
But that’s just me.

Caught the interview with Matty Johns.. was pretty impressive honest review of himself..

Can't help but admire that.. I think we will benefit on and off the park from Hastings
Very impressive self-analysis of himself, didn't sugarcoat or deflect anything, seems like a very grounded, good fella these days. Hope he has a great stint at WT and they both enjoy some success.
