Give him a few more games to do something more, tinker his game according to coaches feedback but it was a concerning performance. Didn't really have momentum/roll-on much, albeit against a solid Raiders defense. Integrate Simpkin into the team similar to Starling at Raiders last year if no improvement is shown. Cannot risk losing Simpkin is the main thing. Laurie and Simpkin can make half a finals-worthy spine (small sample size I know) but time will tell if halves are up to it IMO

He didn't pass off the ground once I reckon. Very very slow service, it's a worry he can't do that simple yet integral part of the game

Maybe it was because of the fact it was raining ? And the ball , this year feels like a cake of soap apparently, when wet.

Hodgson didn’t seem to be struggling.

He picks up the ball every time . I was just replying to the comment about passing off the deck .

I just think Liddles service was really poor and adds nothing in attack. We need some spark there. I wouldn’t be playing him next week.

I didn’t think he was bad until he ran out off puff. Tackled hi butt off, solid in the middle.

Should not have been asked to play 80 minutes, but that is an issue with the bench selections and the rotation.

Hope Simpkin can fill the shoes and make it in the NRL...Jacob will have to become a very solid 80 min player to even be considered as an NRL week to week hooker/dh...

Dont know mate,but Hartigan and Madge have to weigh up the options...buy some one new or upgrade Simpkin...I dont know,Im not in the position to know whats needed....

I dont think Simpkins is ready. That trial the other day. He was good but raw. He nearly passed the ball forward a few times and got pinged here and there. He does run it though so thats a plus.

I can cop the occasional forward pass call from dummy half if it means we can some rolling momentum in our sets at other times. With Liddle it alway seems like we can't get out of 2nd gear.

Yep , I agree , unfortunately , as I would love to simply add Simpkin to the bench . But mbye will have the 14 role , so it’s basically either/or.
But I’m not having a dummy spit just yet . We have a murderers row to start the season . It’s kind of bull crap really now I think about it .
When we play teams not named raiders, roosters , panthers , storm , that we will best have a true gauge . Plus it was an away game , and I watched all the games this weekend , and 12 out of the 16 teams would have had 40 put on them against that rub of the green and team .

It’s a real wait and see from me . Round 1 can mean everything, and it can mean nothing .

Sure, and here's what you might call an excuse, but to his credit Brooks has shown his talent in the two Cleary seasons, which Liddle hasn't done yet.

Of course your entitled to your opinion. Don’t think it’s gonna work out that way though. Looking forward to seeing what Madge does on Tuesday.

The rot started today when the gnome put a kick into the bread basket of a Raiders player .
If Brooks was in the Roosters System he wouldn’t of made 20 games ..

Madge has to bring in Simpkin off the bench Liddle made 50 tackles service was abysmal. It was terrible even after 1 tackle though. Slower than Farah was at the end of his career.

The question should be why he wasn't passing off the ground as that is his natural style and has always been his forte. Something changed.

I haven't hooked back up to Kayo as yet so can't check, but what I saw was Ricky Stuart having picked up on the style we had Liddle playing and attacking it from marker from the get go. That said, he was still going alright before we had no ball to start the second half.
