Why do people have to make it a Simpkin vs Liddle thing all the time? Personally I'm keen to watch them both playing for us and working together.

Both have plenty of talent and plenty to improve on but both will be very important for us!

You need two dummy halves on the books, and we only had one signed. As already mentioned, he was the best no 9 on the market. Extending him was the obvious thing to do.

I would’ve preferred to go with Simpkins and have a swing at a young gun hooker whose path is blocked by an established vet somewhere else. Keep swinging till you get a star. In a squad as trash as ours, Liddle just doesn’t move the needle enough for me. He’d be a nice final piece in an otherwise strong squad, but that’s not what we are.

He has plenty of upside as well. Melbourne manage to play Smith and Grant. I don't know who will be the better player out of Liddle and Simpkin. I knew Grant was a huge loss because he is top quality but it's a position where we have some talent pushing through.

Liddle's service has been top notch recently. It was poor at times earlier in the year. Simpkins to me looked a little better earlier in the season but Liddle now deserves his spot.

I reckon Madge should play both but they are each playing close to 80 minutes per week and they should be better players over the next couple of years.

See above Jadtiger. I’m tired of being an also-ran squad, filled with low-to-mid tier players. We need to find our Ponga (and it doesn’t necessarily need to be at fullback). Liddle’s ceiling isn’t high enough to get me excited about this re-signing. He goes alright, but as yet he hasn’t played a role in getting us to the finals so I don’t quite understand the gushing over him.

I wouldnt put a number on him but certainly above 13th if i did
