Jake Mullaney

Anybody know whether he will get a chance at first grade in Round 1? If not is he contracted to Balmain or Wests, Personally I wouldn't mind seeing something like.

1\. Mullaney
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford/Daniela
4\. Lawrence
5\. Brown/Tuiaki

Word is that he will be playing in the Cowboys trial, but don't know about the rest.
Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure that he'll be playing at Wests, not BRET

In saying that, if for some reason Meany moves from fullback to another position or *fingers crossed* he gets injured then one could safely assume that Mullaney could be BRET's replacement fullback. The thing is I can't see meaning moving to wing or centre as he's a far better fullback. Who knows…

I can't see him getting the nod ahead of McKinnon or Brown in FG, but as Kul said, the Cowboys trial would be most likely for him and if he carves up, well it gives Sheens another option.

Another option or another Head ache for coach Sheens

Im not convinced about McKinnons current state until he can prove he is over his injuries. But Brown was probably our most improved in 2010.

The good thing is if Jake has to remain in State cup for a year or 2 and get some size on him, he knows that fullback spot will be his soon and we should be able to keep him at the Tigers. McKinnon only has a few years left and Brown might develop into a complete fullback, but can't attack like Mullany.

So for me, the fullback is easy. I don't think Moltz will be the option there. McKinnon for the next 1/2 years with Brown as backup (number 17) and then Mullany takes over, again with Brown at backup.

I'm presuming Sheens wont even travel to North Queensland with this squad… I'm sure Jake will get some quality time impressing Fletcher though!!!

Why can't the tigers give him a go in first grade he is way better than mitch brown, wade mckinnon and beau ryan put together.

Quite simply because his front of defence is beyond questionable anywhere in the front line

Agree. Granted he has excellent support play, can sniff out a try and kick goals, but he's still a midget and a liability in defence, and one that won't be risked in this case.

Mullaney will get his chance down the track, let him come along slowly & blood him later in the year, & remember he is only a little bloke but has a big heart.

I rate this guy…SO WHAT if his defence is a bit scratchy! so are a hundred other NRL players. He could be awesome running off Benji and the 'two Robbies'. Brown and McKinnon have had plenty of chances and unless one of them stamps his authority over the first 3-4 weeks then give the no. 1 to Jake!

He needs to spend some time in the NSW State cup team to prove himself by playing against men not boys. He has only played in the NYC 20's last year so has only proven himself against his own age group.

He has a choice to make given his size & stature…he can muscle up like Billy Slater(once an apprentice jockey) & possibly be something special,or become at best a Matt Bowen/Shannon Gallant style of player & have oppostion running at you all day.

I have the feeling that if he is not in first grade by the end of the year he will move onto another club. I like the way he played in the 20's a couple of years ago but I don't know if he will make it with us,

How long is he contracted to the club for?

way too early to say that.
What if he can't crack it at State Cup?

Another good young player that will be snatched up by another club. Played well in the 20's but needs to get the chance to prove himself with the older boys. I hope he goes well in the Tigers State Cup team.
