@ said:Dear dear some here are on melt down… I think the best thing moving forward is that both do leave the club .As alluded to with these guys look at the results over the last few seasons .The time has come for the rebirth of our club the clean out will be huge and the weak mindset that most of the roster have will be gone. Unlike many I am excited about the future of the team , seen all this before over the decades I support my club ...as Coach Cleary has stated your on the bus or not . I hope the real story comes out about what has transpired with these guys as it needs to be told as careers have been tarnished, people treated badly all for pandering to a group of sad individuals .

In 1980 the club had a player purge bought new players (including Tom Radounikis and Graeme O'Grady) and kept a couple of their performing, really genuine players. The next year, 1981, Newtown were grand finalists.
I wasn't a Balmain fan during the early 80's but I do remember Balmain struggling near the bottom of the table during those years. However, similar to what happened to Newtown, Balmain were dual grand finalist a couple of years later in 1988 and 1989.
What I am saying to all you Wests tigers fans is "don't despair". The current playing group will not get the club to a top 4 position for years, with or without Teddy. West Tigers, with the CAP money it now has available together, with the 2018 non- burden of Farahs' treasure chest, now has a once in a decade opportunity to purge all the non-performers from the club and buy quality performing players to replace the non-performers. If this happens we will see a tremendous improvement in Wests Tigers from 2018 onwards. Don't tell me it can't be done because I have seen it done in previous years with a number of clubs, including Newtown and Balamain, who were in exactly the same position we are in today. Support the club through its exciting re-awakening.

Your joking right? your trying to compatre the early 80s with 2017?? the early 80s was a Sydney only NSWRL comp for a start. There was no news limited around then, club loyalty was more of a thing, and there was no cap.
Balmain were also crap from 1991 to 1999, after Alan Jones cleaned out the joint, it actually got worse in 1994 when Pearce took over and they finished with the spoon, with only winning 4 games that year.
as for the wests tigers in 17 years 2010 was their ONLY consistent year where the team actually stayed in the top 4 and 8 for most of the year, 2005 we won the comp yes, but that was basted on coming good in July for 3 good months. 2011 was also a mirror image of 2005 only we choked to the warriors. so the team has had 3 good years, in which 2 of those years were only good for the last 3 months of the year.
So if you are a Balmain fan like myself that is 3 finals appearances since 1991\. and only one of those times we were in the top 5 or top 8, consistently for 1 year.
Failed under Terry Lamb Failed under Potter Failed under Taylor, the Wests Tigers merger is doomed. to much in fighting between clubs. might be time to split the merger and the only option to fix the club up. because nothing is gonna change.
