James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

They won't do it but the club really needs to pull Woods offer and top up Tedesco's offer by another 100k or so. You can't let once in a generation player like him go. Make him an offer he can't possibly refuse.

Tedesco's offer is more than adequate…More money won't come into it...

More importantly creating a competitive team requires balance with the cap. If you overspend in one position, it can leave you seriously short in other positions.

Teddy is our best player. However he has not been this year.

Once in a generation?

I could argue their are fullbacks playing better then him in 2016.

He might end up a great, however for a player that has had injuries and relies on speed, we might be seeing his best years.

Our offer i think makes him the highest paid player in the NRL. Is he the best player in the game? I dont think so. Considering we paid his wages for 2 injury years you would think the loyalty would be re paid. Working with Cleary (ex fullback) will do wonders for his game. He is running out of excuses to re sign.

I reckon gun to my head I reckon Woods and Tedesco are both gone.

It was written all over Woods face in the Press conference on Saturday night.

i reckon all 4 will end up staying

Only way that will happen is if teddy and woodsy re-sign before Mitch's cooling off period is over which is around 20th-21st of April (if mitch signed with Eels on the day he requested the release).

I still think that we can keep Teddy and Woods. Both stated they wouldn't make a rushed decision, wanted to see who the coach was going to be (done), get the tigers playing good footy again (on our way), and teddy at least made recent comments that his preference is still to stay. Not to mention that we've put in the best offers that they have received.

It's been a big month for these guys, I wouldn't read too much into body language after the game etc, the bigger signs will be what Woodsy says on nrl 360 tomorrow night, what teddy says on the radio later this week and of course the way we perform this weekend.

Hopefully we can keep winning and these boys can see a good future here at the club under Ivan and sign on.

Happy posted the fullbacks from every NRL team and when you see the list Teddy is not irreplaceable.

teddy imo is irreplacable. im not saying he's the best fullback yet- but he is better than most at breaking tackles, defence, setting up others and of course speed.

no other fullback will be able to do what he can do in broken play or even against set defences. his versatility means you can make a team around him or he can adjust to your team.

Couldn't agree more - hopefully we're moving away from this stance.
I'm all for bringing through local kids, but we need to know when to persist and when to let go, and that's been sorely lacking over the past few years.

Been saying this for a while… It keeps the old fossils that can't let go of Balmain or the Magpies happy....
It's a convenient out for us... Rely on juniors because attracting established nrl experience is too hard for us

The one good thing it has achieved for me was to blur that line. For example, I supported Balmain and suddenly I supported a team with skando, Mescia etc… it was a shock at first. By the time Gibbs and Fulton came around I was more or less over it, although maybe was a bit more partial to seeing Balmain juniors given a go.

Now, give me Nofo and Teddy, even Lawrence, over any Balmain junior since Farah. I'm a Wests Tiger and if those grubs from the Balmain board every managed to take control again I would consider cutting up my Membership card.

Having said that I agree, the policy we need at adopt is to put the best team we can afford on the park every week, Irrespective of player origin.

I struggle to comprehend why we are still discussing this tigers/magpies divide 17 years down the track…..

EXACTLY. It's not Balmain or Western Suburbs anymore and hasn't been for 17-18 years. It's Wests Tigers. GET OVER IT.

Teddy is a very good player.

However lets look at some facts.

He has played 75 of a possible 126 games. So He has missed 51 games.

The only year he played 24 games was 2015 when we came 15th. The year he played the next most was 2013 when he played 19 games and we finished 15th.

Overall as a Tigers player he has been involved in 27 wins and 48 losses.

Reading some of this you would think he has led us to 2 Premierships.

We don't even win at 40% with him in the side.

My point is the sun will come up in the morning if he goes to the Chooks or Dogs.

I have not caught up to end of thread yet but Eddie about first time am disagreeing with you. You are using the simplistic arguments used against Farah.

All i stated were facts, not opinion.

Farah won at close to 50%, with 3 Top 4 finishes and a Premiership here. It was only in the last year or two that our record without Farah improved and his performances started to decrease, or his influence in the team.

Don't get me wrong I want Tedesco to stay. I rated him the best fullback in the NRL coming into this season.

I have said he is our best player.

However if we have 1 million dollar a season offer on the table and he doesn't want to take it then ta ta. What I am against is people saying the club should just keep bumping up his price to ridiculous levels.

Maybe you kiddies should realise our development structure is somewhat geared to keeping these old supporters happy..wether you like it or not

Eddies stats mean jach schott
Will we recruit a player better than Teddy to replace him with?

I highly doubt it…hes Origin level...the sun might come up but he'll be a massive loss
