there cannot be any justfication to let teddy leave.

i'd sacrifice 3-4 high calibre players for him to stay.

Do a list like I did of all the fullbacks in the NRL

Maybe two aren't real quality French , and to a lesser extent Coote

Even Newcastle have Ponga next season

I don't necessarily see a huge difference between the level of Tedesco and some that are probably 300 k less than him

300 k will pick up a handy key depth player on the market instead of an unproven league minimum prospect from our NYC side

And that's the difference in the end

I want Tedesco to stay but you are right here. We are talking about big money and I honestly think now that the most important thing to creating a winning team is cap management.

There are a lot of quality fullbacks. Teddy is great but does he even deserve the NSW SOO spot this year on form.

No he doesn't, but we've made him look plain tbh. He hasn't had much to work with. We're better off banking on him, he's a rare talent.

Tedesco mulls NRL pay cut to stay a Tiger
>
Wests Tigers star James Tedesco says he would consider talking to Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks about taking a collective pay cut to stay at the NRL club.
>
Finals or not, James Tedesco is already planning on a Wests Tigers NRL dynasty, believing the joint venture's gun young playmakers can replicate the dominating era of star Melbourne trio Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk.
>
In an ultimate show of faith in coach Jason Taylor, the Tigers' No.1 has pencilled in a sales pitch to teammates Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks over the summer to remain at the club long term.
>
All three stars come off contract at the end of next season but, given their recent run of wins, Tedesco is adamant their best chance of success in the NRL is by sticking together in Tigerland.
>
"All three of us know we play our best footy when we're all together and, footy-wise, it would be best if we can stay together," he said on Wednesday.
>
"Obviously, it's going to be hard.
>
"But with how we've been going the last few weeks, it's pretty clear there's something special going on here and, if we can keep that going for the next few years, that will be good for us."
>
So enamoured is Tedesco with the club's vein of form that the NSW State of Origin fullback would consider taking a pay cut to stay.
>
He'd even try to convince the other two into doing the same and, in doing so, hope to usher in a new era to follow on from the long-running reign of the Storm's Smith, Slater and Cronk.
>
"We haven't crossed that bridge yet, but I think we probably could talk about that," Tedesco said.
>
"You see a team like the Storm with Slater, Smith and Cronk, who have been able to stay together their whole careers, and they've really built something special down there.
>
"It's an opportunity for us and we'll just have to see how it goes with management."
>
Tedesco said he recently knocked back an approach from the club to begin talks on a contract extension, but would be ready to take a seat at the table at the end of the season.
>
With four games to go in the regular season, the 9th-placed Tigers remain in the hunt for a finals spot.
>
"I've said I wanted to focus on my footy and we'll finish this year. Then we'll get to talks after that," he said.
>
Tedesco's confidence in the club comes just weeks after Taylor's controversial decision to axe veteran Robbie Farah from first grade, handing the reins to the next generation.
>
The 23-year-old, who was talked into backflipping on a deal with Canberra in 2014 by Farah, said he always had belief the team could perform without the former captain.
>
"We knew what JT had in mind and he analyses our games every day and night," he said.
>
"Whatever JT's plans were, we all had belief in them. (Aaron) Woods has done a good job of getting us away from the media and not reading too much into stories and staying focused on our game."

The club needed to be more upfront with the players on the whole Taylor /Cleary situation

Anyone with half a brain knows you don't sack a coach until you have a better replacement sorted :bulb:

They, or their manager, will use the JT sacking as proof of how unstable this club still is.

I've had a gutful of all this prima donna crap.
Stay or go but do it this week - the four of you

Dugan, Hopoate, lolohea, Mitchell I'm sure would be adequate replacements at a minimum 400k per season less then teddy.

I agree but I'd like to keep Tedesco. He is a real good player and despite some of his recent comments appears to me to be a good guy.

If he does leave though the club will be fine if we stick to managing the cap properly. The list of quality fullbacks is huge and more will come on in the next couple of years.

Sure - Dugan wants one mill (400 he would laugh you out of the room)
Wouldn't want him anyway.

Funny that it was reported last week that Tedesco, Moses and Brooks had just moved in to share a new house together.
Now they might be heading in three different directions to training.

Out of that list, I would take Mitchell and according to zero tackle he comes off contract at the end of 2019.

There are no quality fullbacks that come off contract soon which is why we MUST keep Tedesco

Really want to hold onto Teddy but its really hard to tell with the amount of rumors going around.

Hopefully it can be sorted this week and we can move on.

Let Woods go and keep Teddy, that works for me, and we will be playing finals footy with the side we will have with all the money we have to spend.

Makes sense. But not to the club unfortunately.

No offence but tigers fans and management really over rate their juniors and a hell bent on local development to the point it's has been the real reason for the teams failures the last half a decade.

Couldn't agree more - hopefully we're moving away from this stance.
I'm all for bringing through local kids, but we need to know when to persist and when to let go, and that's been sorely lacking over the past few years.

Been saying this for a while… It keeps the old fossils that can't let go of Balmain or the Magpies happy....
It's a convenient out for us... Rely on juniors because attracting established nrl experience is too hard for us

The one good thing it has achieved for me was to blur that line. For example, I supported Balmain and suddenly I supported a team with skando, Mescia etc… it was a shock at first. By the time Gibbs and Fulton came around I was more or less over it, although maybe was a bit more partial to seeing Balmain juniors given a go.

Now, give me Nofo and Teddy, even Lawrence, over any Balmain junior since Farah. I'm a Wests Tiger and if those grubs from the Balmain board every managed to take control again I would consider cutting up my Membership card.

Having said that I agree, the policy we need at adopt is to put the best team we can afford on the park every week, Irrespective of player origin.

I struggle to comprehend why we are still discussing this tigers/magpies divide 17 years down the track…..

It is hard to let go for some, for me it has happened fairly recently that I truly don't care about either original club.

They won't do it but the club really needs to pull Woods offer and top up Tedesco's offer by another 100k or so. You can't let once in a generation player like him go. Make him an offer he can't possibly refuse.

If the go we could actually get a really balanced squad with the cash, on top of that we could unleash Nofo from fullback. He would create havok.

Igot over it quickly enough. shame the boards never….

^ Tedesco is good but remember hes only played one year. Adding another 100,000 on just makes us look desperate. Weve been doing it for two long..
