James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Teddy said today that contract talks won't start until the next off season but also said that he loves this club and all his best mates are here too. He is looking forward to playing alongside Brooks and Moses into the future because they understand his game and give him so many opportunities and this will only get better.

I think he is so outstanding that 4 years until 2021, given that back ended contracts are no longer allowed, at 1 gazillion smackers a year is what he deserves.

I hope it doesn't come down to that guy Farah having to keep him again.

Nasty piece of work that Robbie.

Yep, he is that nasty of a piece of work that he was the one who talked Tedesco into staying with WT instead of going to Canberra :unamused:
Without Farah's intervention Tedesco would be running around for the Raiders as we speak.

Think you missed the sarcasm, mate.

I'd be a little hesitant in having Teddy signed to a 5 year deal, but I'd certainly take it over a 2 year one. I think about 4 years would be ideal.

And he's definitely worth $1 million + a season. Some clubs might even throw some ridiculous money his way.

It seems he wants to stay though. Sounds like Brooks and Moses will be a huge deciding factor too. If we can't keep him then I honestly don't think we'll be a premiership threat for a while.

Yep you are right Masterton, after re-reading the post it was intended as a gee-up. I think after reading all of the anti-Farah and anti-Taylor drivel on the forum for so long you subconsciensly start to equate them as being Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussain.

Signing any player in any sport is a risk. I remember reading a tread on here a month or so ago, before WTs mana men had started putting ink to paper with our roster. It was titled somethings like "signings past 2017" nearly everyone had Teddy no 1 and Woods second.

Teddy should command the most cash. and be the carrot for our halves the sign longer term. Not the other way around.

Off contract at the end of 2017, Tedesco said he hadn't given any thought about signing a new deal — saying his full focus remained on finishing the year strong for Wests Tigers — but said he would like to remain at the Club when discussions start to take place.
>
"I'm not really thinking about that at all," Tedesco said.
>
"I've still got a lot of time so I want to focus on finishing the year strong on the field, and then maybe start the talks at the end of the year.
>
"But you know, I love this Club. It's my junior Club and I've got all my best mates here so it would be a great opportunity to stay.

Superstar…

Story in RLW about Teddy and his contract, has quotes, basically Teddy wants to know who the club is going to sign. Wants to win and play finals footy, made that clear, loves the club and wants to sign a 3 or 4 year deal, but wants answers first.
Depending on what side of the keep or punt JT you are on you could make an argument on his comments about the coach. He wants to know who is coaching in 2018, I want to sign a long term deal and I want to know what I am working with he said.
You could take that as he likes JT, or you could take it as he won't sign with JT there.
He never said he liked or disliked the coach, but it is clear what he wants, over to you Mr Pascoe.

nofoaluma spoke extremely positively about JT too in an interview with denan kemp that i saw

really great interview if anyone wants to watch, bit long though

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FO0WidufDw

I watched that interview a couple of days ago pHyR3.

I was pretty surprised/pleased to hear the part about JT - Nofo seemed to suggest he is a good people manager which is something JT gets a lot of crap about. Really does seem like the majority like him.

So it appears we are going back to the days when players dictate to the club… Recall Farah did that and look where we ended up .... Hmmm

I don't think its that bad what he's asking. It's fair enough for players to want to know who will be coaching the club for the duration of their contract. It doesn't have to mean that he either supports or is against Taylor, he could simply want to know what the clubs plans are, for which he's entitled to ask.

If I was a marquee player, I would also want to know who my support players will be lol.
When you are a star, you want to shine. He doesn't want to play out his career fighting for 8th position.

He already owns the leagues club, time to up his contract with a 10% share of Meriton.

Like anyone would know who's coach in 2018

Yeah, my thinking as well. An indication of the current or planned coaching direction would be about the extent of it.

He is about to debut in SOO and looking great playing good open footy, so certainly looks happy with the coach to me. At least one of the halves staying would be a key for mine, as he has a great relationship with them on and off the field.
