Teddy is a very good player.

However lets look at some facts.

He has played 75 of a possible 126 games. So He has missed 51 games.

The only year he played 24 games was 2015 when we came 15th. The year he played the next most was 2013 when he played 19 games and we finished 15th.

Overall as a Tigers player he has been involved in 27 wins and 48 losses.

Reading some of this you would think he has led us to 2 Premierships.

We don't even win at 40% with him in the side.

My point is the sun will come up in the morning if he goes to the Chooks or Dogs.

I have not caught up to end of thread yet but Eddie about first time am disagreeing with you. You are using the simplistic arguments used against Farah.

All i stated were facts, not opinion.

Farah won at close to 50%, with 3 Top 4 finishes and a Premiership here. It was only in the last year or two that our record without Farah improved and his performances started to decrease, or his influence in the team.

Don't get me wrong I want Tedesco to stay. I rated him the best fullback in the NRL coming into this season.

I have said he is our best player.

However if we have 1 million dollar a season offer on the table and he doesn't want to take it then ta ta. What I am against is people saying the club should just keep bumping up his price to ridiculous levels.

But Eddie if the "we" attribute the losses to Robbie's hogging the ball whatever isn't it then unfair to take points away from Tedesco when he wasn't even getting the ball cos of ruddy Farah hogging it or being slow shovelling it out. You are double counting. The whole team were in those losses (not just Tedesco) and Robbie's better record is only because of his previous better play. The accepted wisdom on this board is that Robbie brought or slowed everyone down to his level. But I am more inclined to accept the then-captain's explanation - we lost those games more due to lack of defence than to slower attack or limited attack. I would be judging Tedesco's record of defence as that was more important than his rate of contributing to earning points. I agree we can't pay anyone overs as it sabotages the rest of the team - look at Farah's new hideout. Which sort of proves that we must be currently paying most of his kebabs.

I am sure that Widdop would jump at a Wests Tigers' offer.

Are you being sarcastic Newtown? If not, why would you think that?

No, I am not being sarcastic Flippedy. There has been talk that with Ben Hunt coming to the Dragons that Widdop is looking to leave the Dragons. If Wests Tigers are keen to sign Widdop they in their current financial climate offer Widdop a substantially higher contract than Dragons would offer him. You also have to take into account that Dragons, after their recent player spendings, are not currently in a strong financial position.

Eddies stats mean jach schott
Will we recruit a player better than Teddy to replace him with?

I highly doubt it…hes Origin level...the sun might come up but he'll be a massive loss

He will be a loss no doubt however we mate get a better team orientated player as opposed to a superstar we don't use well.

Like everyone else I want teddy to stay but if he leaves he leaves I don't think it will set us back 5 years or anything.

Happy posted the fullbacks from every NRL team and when you see the list Teddy is not irreplaceable.

teddy imo is irreplacable. im not saying he's the best fullback yet- but he is better than most at breaking tackles, defence, setting up others and of course speed.

no other fullback will be able to do what he can do in broken play or even against set defences. his versatility means you can make a team around him or he can adjust to your team.

No player is irreplaceable

Been saying this for a while… It keeps the old fossils that can't let go of Balmain or the Magpies happy....
It's a convenient out for us... Rely on juniors because attracting established nrl experience is too hard for us

The one good thing it has achieved for me was to blur that line. For example, I supported Balmain and suddenly I supported a team with skando, Mescia etc… it was a shock at first. By the time Gibbs and Fulton came around I was more or less over it, although maybe was a bit more partial to seeing Balmain juniors given a go.

Now, give me Nofo and Teddy, even Lawrence, over any Balmain junior since Farah. I'm a Wests Tiger and if those grubs from the Balmain board every managed to take control again I would consider cutting up my Membership card.

Having said that I agree, the policy we need at adopt is to put the best team we can afford on the park every week, Irrespective of player origin.

I struggle to comprehend why we are still discussing this tigers/magpies divide 17 years down the track…..

EXACTLY. It's not Balmain or Western Suburbs anymore and hasn't been for 17-18 years. It's Wests Tigers. GET OVER IT.

As has often been said in here, this is a forum and if you don't like an opinion, fair enough but everyone has a right to post here. It is for the mods, not you, to apply the rules.

Everyone here are first and foremost Wests Tigers supporters. Yes most if have been fans for 17 years but some of us are a bit more than that.

I've followed Wests Tigers for 17 years but I followed Balmain for 35 years too.

The Wests Tigers are our brand name but behind that are Western Suburbs Ashfield (5 board members) and Balmain Leagues at Flemington and Five Dock (2 board members).

It's ok not to lose the history of of JV.

Old Man Tiger is entitled to post his thoughts. Get over THAT.

I don't mind the odd post about things prior year 2000 but

Of course Teddy would be a massive loss and we would probably not be able to find a no1 with his qualities, but his money might buy a solid n01 and fix two other positions. Its all about swings and round about. Egan must have a figure that is our limit and it would be irresponsible to exceed that figure, that is why we are in the position we are today..poor cap management.

For the first time in years, I actually have confidence that no matter what happens we will be competitive. Cleary's efforts at the Panthers are a prime example. He got rid of the heavy salaries, and even while still paying those guys in the following season managed to take a better rounded side to week three of the finals, all the while plagued by injury.

I don't want to lose Teddy at all, but he has to do what's right for him, as does Woods & Moses. If they all go so be it as I am certain we will survive, and possibly even thrive, without them.

Like most people on here I think that the drawing out of this contract saga is becoming quite tiresome.

I've been of the opinion that they are both leaving but maybe this has to do with what new players the Tigers can sign? They've both been concerned about strengthening the current squad.

Unfortunately, when 2 players take up a good portion of the cap it is extremely hard for the Tigers to sign too many until they know what these 2 are actually going to do. Back to square one?

Fair enough, I hope you're right for our sake, but I would've thought the addition of Hunt would mean that McCrone would have to move on, not Widdop since he's a five eighth and Hunt is a halfback. Mind you the Widdop/McCrone combo is going gangbusters, it would be a shame to break it up. The Dragons may have jumped the gun and wasted a lot of money buying Hunt - there is no better halves combo in the comp than Widdop & McCrone at the moment.

Saints have Jai Field waiting in the wings.

When all clubs are fully fit look at this list

Souths Inglis
Storm Slater
Brisbane Boyd
Tigers Tedesco
Warriors RTS
Newcastle (2018) Ponga
Dogs Hopoate
Manly Trbojevic
Cowboys Coote
Titans Hayne
Dragons Dugan
Canberra Wighton
Penrith Moylan
Parramatta French
Roosters Gordon /Mitchell
Sharks Holmes

Fullback would have the greatest depth of any position and it was quite possible that 8 fullbacks could of played SOO this season

Enough for you ??

Rank them please…?

I never realised that was the case, there is so much talent in that position. The only stinker in that list is Hopoate.

And if Widdop re signs with the dragons I'd be having a coffee with Jai's manager and asking him if he wants to play first grade.

Please no more players with potential! It's time we signed established halves only.

Id play him at fullback if teddy goes. Definitely need a 5/8 with experience.

Last thing we need is another rookie in the halves. Brooks needs someone with experience. He was great when he had Anasta next to him. He's mud playing with Moses.

Glancing at the ladder I noticed that the dogs have scored less points than us and we have hardly been converting any chances. Any wonder they want Tedesco.

According to Sharks' fans, the Roosters are attempting to offload Ferguson which is ironic considering where he originally played,

I thought I heard Des say the Bulldogs had not made an offer to either player?
