James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Think Canberra have been a great example that with smart recruiting you can recover. 3 years ago they had Tedesco renege and also blew the signings of Ennis, Mansour and Proctor. They were rock bottom. People said no one wanted to be there because no one wanted to live in Canberra. Look at them now. Targeted a few pommies and discards from other clubs, now they are a top 4 side. Us signing guys like McIlwrick is a step in the right direction. If we can pick out a couple more players like him and pick up 2 or 3 marquee players, it isn't a lost cause, not with Cleary at the helm. Just use the Raiders blueprint.

I think this is the right attitude.

We bemoan potentially losing certain players, but every club shows with the right signings and juniors you can build a great team. You can't just have a handful of top players and expect that to be enough, because the game is too deep, the whole team needs to be firing.

All I know is that we support a side that is the laughing stock of the NRL and nothing ever seems to change that …......

Remember when we used to be everyone's 2nd favourite team

Like Ink the passion is waning

Many are going to be highly disillusioned by seasons end , we are going to be like the Rich Ugly kid , money to spend but no one wants to be seen within cooee of us

I don't buy this. As a side point your posts always seem to be so down. I don't view the Tigers as the laughing stock of the NRL and I think most people don't as well.

I have some mates who are Parra supporters. They just went through a bad period with rorting and they were laughing at how hopeless their club was. It changes in a season or two.

We've had up times and down times. This might look bad but I don't really think it is.

Sorry I started to get all excited and then I realized that one of our alleged marquee players was leaving to go to that laughing stock you mentioned

Take off the glasses Earl

I agree with Earl, I don't see why we are a laughing stock… or why we are the only one. Parra, Warriors, Knights (for God's sake the Knights), Dogs, Titans, Manly all having dodgy seasons in recent years.

It only takes a few years for fortunes to swing wildly, just ask Sharks or Roosters.

You can feel embarrassed about the club if you want, other supporters jeer the club anyway even if they are doing well.

If out of the 4, we only re-sign Brooks, we are an abysmal joke of a Club. I've believed in Pascoe from his tenure here, but if he loses Tedesco, It would go down as the biggest admin stuff up in the NRL. He didn't allow them to all be off contract together, but if he couldn't get them over the line,he's just as inept as all the other CEOs we've had. What's the point of having a billionaire sponsor but miss out because other Clubs can find TPAs. Triguboff is the richest man in Australia!!

Dunno why people are so upset about potentially losing players that have no advanced this team in any sense to be a contender

I agree Smoking Gun. I like to follow a team full of genuine players not a team of Posers who drown in their sea of entitlement. Posers like these don't give a damn for the fans who have spent so much of their time supporting them. Money and glory are not the only things in life as these players will learn in due time.

Throughout all this crap we ( us forum members and probably a lot of other supporters whether it be members or just WT followers) have been going thru there are some inconsistencies I really dont understand.

1\. The board has stated they want a high local junior representation in our roster (50% or more) Right now that will be the worst Board decision on future strategy ever…looking at our U20 and ISP results so far this year that compound the error even more
2\. With the exception of Brooks we are apparently going to lose the 3 players we have invested at least the past 3 years developing. So why are they leaving when its not for more $? They all have been quoted as saying they are looking for the future prospects of our club in order to make a decision . Given that Cleary has been appointed for the next 3.5 years they now know what part of the future will look like. Given that Cleary has been in the job for more than 10 days and announcements are imminent from Teddy and Woods so what does that mean?
3.They didn't want JT punted and feel it was just another knee jerk reaction from Pascoe and the Board?
4\. They don't like Cleary personally and/or dont like his vision?
5\. They have no faith in the direction of the club from the Board down to pascoe?

Chookpen are saying done deal April 12 so should be announced in a few days for that 10 day cool off

I'm not gonna watch nrl again I'm done

Mate that is extreme. Seriously if we don't sign Teddy your done?
No player would ever have that effect on me as much as I seriously get the poops with how our Club has been run the last few years.
If they go? Big deal we evaluate the situation and see what is our next plan of attack.
At the moment it all seems doom and gloom but within 2 years I think the tide will turn and we will have a great side, laugh at me all you want.

I agree….same happened at Penrith...shed all their big names and they've got a great squad

Stand back and look at this all from a distance without any emotion involved

You have 15 other clubs to choose from , most have state of the art conditions , many have one home ground /fortress , financially pretty sound , multiple investors ,sponsors great supporters base , strong playing personnel , TPA's coming from left right and centre

Many have made the Top 8 in the last 5 years and have a proud history of this

And then look at us , seriously look at us without the Tigers shades

We are an abomination , a joke , why would anyone risk their careers coming here

I mean this seriously , be honest with yourselves everyone , why the hell would you want to even waste your time driving here if you were one of the games premier players

Look at our clubs supposed superstars and what they are saying , glowing endorsements aren't they …..

I know I've had a crappy week and a half , but this club ...... :deadhorse:

The fact that that laughing stock club can attract players( no matter how useless) from this laughing stock club says a lot about us.
And most people that I know Earl , DO think that we are a basket case and have been for a long time with a couple of blips of intermittent sanity .

They have left because loyalty does not exist any longer . Look at Farah. Why would they want to play for this club when they can get same money or more and play with stronger, better run clubs with a culture of finals football regularly.

Happy fans cant step back without emotional investment.

That is why we are fans.

Fans admire players that dig in and take some accountability.

There is a lot of truth in what you are saying however thats not to say the fans should feel anything other then bitter disappointment especially regards to Woods.

Risk their careers? So We have Moses his chance and developed him as a player and he doesn't want tot are 850 K to stay with us . Ta Ta son.

At various points other clubs have been laughing stocks as well.

Anyway we have an experienced coach and a chance to start again.

Yes I might be looking for a silver lining!!

Cronulla Sharks are absolutely not the team you are describing above, they couldn't even get jersey sponsors a few years ago and now they are reigning premiers.

Of course there are people wearing Tigers shades, but there are also people who take all this very hard because they are Tigers supporters.

What do you think Knights or Penrith or Warriors supporters are feeling right now, Dogs supporters even, do you reckon they think their club is going great, on the up? People take the negatives of their own clubs hard.

Saints were a joke this time last year and now look at them, they hardly even changed their roster, just tweaked a few things. I mean Josh McCrone is their starting halfback, how laughable is that, and they are top of the comp.

I'm with SG, a couple of blokes might walk out of the side and actually I am not that fussed. We are not winning with these players right now. You can argue we need to supplement these players with better quality, but when you are taking up a massive chunk of the salary cap, you lose that ability to build true depth, you need more output for your marquee investment.

This is where I understand very much where SG is coming from in terms of financial analysis. Some players just aren't worth the salaries they are trying to get, their output is not that good. That is not to say they aren't good players, just that you need to balance the entire side.

Tigers have not had a balanced side for 6 years and it's shown. So we can continue to pour money into a handful of players and hope something clicks later this year or next year, maybe the new coach has ideas, or just maybe we are better off with a better overall side at the expense of a few high-profile footballers.

But it is everything

Who wants to deal with the politics that runs this dinosaur of a club

Who the hell would want to have to play at three home grounds

Have a club that is resigned to having to rely on local juniors and can't attract talent and pins its hopes on "potential" year after year

Everything I look at is without emotion. I'm not aligned to this club emotionally. Out of the 4 players off contract (at the time) Tedesco would be the only one you would be a little upset at losing. He is a top 3 fullback without a doubt but can he carry a team? No. No fullback can carry a team to a GF. They are an intergeral part of the team but just that. A part. I mean the roosters are top 4 this year and look great with Michael frickin Gordon for crying out loud.

We have money and good players will come to the club. Cleary we know has a history of rebuilding clubs and we are in good hands. Management have done everything possible to retain our big name players.

Tedesco will be a loss but the big 4 have given the club zero success just major headaches.

We have been paying overs for this group for awhile now which has sacrificed the rest of the playing group. The culture is at a all time low and our captain is a joke.

They are not proven match winners just potential match winners. The only loss out of the 3 is tedesco, we stuck by him with his major injuries as the potential looked to be worth it.

Hopefully the club has learnt some valuable lessons from this group.

That is very good thinking J. Now put your thinking cap on again and figure out why, after such a long absence SG suddenly appears again justifying why we should not be too worried about the 3 of them exiting..hmmmmm
