Pardon my ignorance, but was't James' father quoted, defending him, after he received some criticism recently? I seem to remember that he was, but can't remember the quote. Anybody?

Not sure about that one, but he was in the press saying people pay to see Tesdesco play not some other no name players or words to that effect. Pretty arrogant imo.

How can a professional league player not know what cleary is like, or even ask around to find out the ins and outs? Maybe he didn't like the fact that there was no 3 ply for the coach to wipe his backside with???
Poor explanation of his decision….everyone else's fault but his for his choice....this generation of footy players are such victims.....

**"We needed more time and they wanted the decision quickly."**

What a load of crap !
Wanted a decision quickly, fair dinkum. Do they really think we are that stupid to believe the dribble that comes out of their mouths.

I thought Tedesco might have learnt from the way Woods was treated after his stupid comments after announcing his signing.

It was Ryan James after he broke James' jaw last year. Sounds like a tosser.

What a load of crap, reeks of Isaac Moses, he had a very generous over the odds offer on the table for 6 months.
If the club waited and then he still left, as the roosters always get there man, then we would be left with no quality players left on the market. These guys are so self centred, me, me, want this want that want it now, please

Tell you what, our fans days for the rest of the year are going to be must go to events. I reckon they'll cop heaps. And it's not like they can really say much back as its a club function.

Thanks Muffstar, yes that was the one. I couldn't remember the context or quote, I just remember thinking "my little precious" when I read it.

The irony here is everyone thought before he signed Cleary was the key to these guys re-signing. Someone even made a thread about Moses being in the Lebanon camp with him would really impress him. He impressed him alright, he asked for a release the day after Cleary signed lol.

I agree with all the posters here. I'm over this guy.
I really just don't see what the problem would have been in coming right out and saying that "I needed a change" etc. Hell of a lot more respect than the B.S. that he and Woods have been churning out - probably at the behest of their snake-like manager.
Onward and upward. (Sigh)

Seriously, Cleary should just punt all 3\. Who cares if we end up with the spoon, it's not like Cleary is being judged on this year anyway. I'd happily take finishing 15th or 16th if it meant i didn't have to watch these grubs run around in first grade again.

Tedesco quoted ' Its not about the money, my fanily is reallt well off'..

Well that seems to be the problem, a little rich kid thats gets everything and no one tells him no…

Don't punt them. Hang on to them and sideline them for the year. Send them to Easts, Canterbury and Parra all underdone.

Seriously, I've had a gutful of these tossers and their excuses as to why they didn't sign. Even if there were any sliver of truth to anything they've said, the fact that they've had contracts in front of them for months and they never moved on it says they were looking to milk the club dry and when Cleary had the cojones to tell them to jump they sulked and went elsewhere.

I stop short of wishing injury on any of them but by Christ do I hope they encounter some miserable form slumps over the next four years.

Here it is..

**James Tedesco takes shot at Ivan Cleary**

JAMES Tedesco says he may have remained a West Tiger had new coach Ivan Cleary not imposed a deadline on him to re-sign.

The star NRL fullback, who signed a four-year deal to join the Sydney Roosters next season on Thursday, also criticised the Tigers’ decision to make the deadline public.
In an open interview with Sydney radio station C91.3FM, Tedesco revealed the Tigers ruined their own chances of keeping him.

“Ivan told me and my management that he wanted an answer by Friday that week and we both sort of said to him that we weren’t ready to make a decision yet,” Tedesco said.
“He was pretty adamant that he wanted an answer by the end of the week and that’s why he put a deadline out and they made it public too and I didn’t think there was a need for that because it just played

“Ivan wanted to explore other options if I wasn’t on board. They made that decision to put a deadline on us and we’d already told them that week that I wasn’t ready.
“Last contract negotiations I was, not rushed, but I made the decision earlier than I wanted to and I had to backflip on it so we told them that we needed more time, but they put the deadline on us.”
When asked if he might have remained at the Tigers if the deadline was not imposed, he said: “Yeah, possibly”.

“We needed more time and they needed a decision quickly. Ivan came to the club, and I still didn’t know how he was as a coach and I think he’s been great personally as a coach, we’ve had some really strong results with him.

“It was just disappointing to have that deadline put on us. That’s the way they wanted to do it and we can’t really do much about it now.”

He admitted telling teammates on Thursday that he was leaving was a difficult moment.
“It was a tough time telling all the boys yesterday,” he said.
“I think half the boys already knew, but I had to make it official. It was obviously a tough interview, but it’s good to get it out. It’s obviously played out in the media the last few months so it’s good to get it done.

“Everyone was obviously disappointed, but some boys already understood that I was going. It was a tough interview to tell them. They’re the best mates that I’ve played with. I was a Wests junior so guys like … (David Nofoaluma) and Jesse Sue, I’ve played all my juniors with.
“It’s going to be weird not playing with them, but we don’t know what might happen in the future.
“It was tough to tell them. I love those boys. They all understand. They’re all close enough mates to understand that we’ll still be mates even if we’re not in the same team.”

Tedesco is living with two Wests Tigers teammates in Hunters Hill, but says he will consider leaving to a place closer to Bondi and the Roosters headquarters at Moore Park.
Roosters club legend Anthony Minichiello on Thursday said his club had signed Tedesco as he is heading into the best years of his career.

Tedesco’s departure from the Wests Tigers was made official on Thursday, with the 24-year-old to join the Roosters on a four-year deal from next year.

He’s already the reigning Dally M fullback of the year and incumbent NSW State of Origin No. 1 after making his debut in the last game of the 2016 series, but Roosters ambassador Minichiello, a mate and mentor who played a key role in securing Tedesco, says that is just scratching the surface of what he can achieve.

“He (Tedesco) is a fantastic player — a young kid who’s willing to learn and wants to improve his game,” Minichiello said.

“He’s a great signing for us. He’s definitely got potential to be one of the best fullbacks in the game, without doubt.

“He can go on to represent NSW for a long time and eventually Australia as well.” Tedesco appears set to replace 33-year-old Roosters fullback Michael Gordon, who’s on a one-year deal, though Minichiello hoped Gordon could be retained at the club.

“He (Gordon) is a great guy, great player, great goalkicker. I’ve always admired the way he plays and he’s been in fantastic form this year,,” he said.

“Roosters young gun Latrell Mitchell had been viewed as a potential long-term fullback though he has made his best impression at centre this season. “Competition for spots is good,” said Minichiello.
“You want a strong roster. That’s what brings the best out of players.”

Confirmation of Tedesco’s departure means Wests Tigers have failed to keep three of their biggest off-contract stars, with captain Aaron Woods (Canterbury) and five-eighth Mitchell Moses (Parramatta) also to exit, while halfback Luke Brooks signed a new two-year deal.
New Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has moved quickly to fill the gaps since his recent arrival, signing Kiwis international prop Ben Matulino and Bulldogs five eighth Josh Reynolds.
Anticipating Tedesco’s exit, the Tigers have shown interest in out-of-favour but talented Warriors player Tui Lolohea.

“I like the way Lolohea plays but that’s up to Ivan and what he wants to build at the club,” said Minichiello.

“He’s already made some good signings…I think he’s trying to build a different culture there, which is a good thing.”

WT making the deadline public

"I didn’t think there was a need for that because it just played out more in the media"

The whole point to make the deadline public was to settle the media down due to your inability to make a decision.

WT were getting inundated with requests from member and fans demanding what's going on with tedesco due to all the rumours. Just because the deadline was not the best for tedesco, does he ever think about what's best for the club and it's fans?

"we weren’t ready to make a decision yet"

What's the real reason you were not ready James why don't you go into more detail about that. ?

Stop leaving out points that don't suite you to try and protect your image. You will always be remembered for someone with no integrity.

What a tosser is Tedesco.
Needed more time for the Roosters to sort out there Cap that is all and just have the Tigers offer sitting in the background in case plan A didn't eventuate.
He thinks people are fools and can't read between the lines , he was never staying and I am seriously glad these guys are gone and I can cheer on a team that haven't got individuals trying to control our Club.
Absolute grubs and our Club spent so much time and wasted resources to build a team around these grubs to only be spat at, we've lost some talent along the way cause we wanted to build around these guys ( shake my head).

Cleary is a legend and will sort the joint out, he won't tolerate players dictating to him hence why the Moses deal was pulled away from his nose and deadlines put in place.
I have faith in Cleary and in time we will be rejoicing this appointment…..I have no doubt.

So i'm guessing the world was supposed to stop for him and his mates. We already saw what happened last year when Moses and Brooks took up their options at the eleventh hour. If they had their way, they'd have dragged this out till June. Long after we'd have been able to pick up quality replacements. Total arrogance that they try and sell the fact they had no time when they've had contracts on the table for months. The best revenge is to live well. Make some quality signings with the left over money, get excited about next year and make them regret their decision.
