Tell me a coach in the league who doesn't want his playmakers to make another step forward, hopes contract negotiations aren't a distraction, is positive about new signings and wants to downplay hype about a promising youngster. I'm not having a go at Taylor - it's just a nothing interview to fill space before training starts.

You sort of have to read things in order to form an opinion on them. If I'd known in advance that it was going to be a waste of time I wouldn't have bothered.

90% of the articles from now till eternity about the NRL will offer zero insight

and over summer it's probably closer to 100%

We gave him a chance when he was almost basically on the scrap heap back in 2004 and he bags us on a radio program

He needs to remember he won an NRL title when playing for the WT's , so a little respect for his "brothers for life" wouldn't go astray

I'm speaking on behalf of how a professional team is managed. All the complaints about how bad we are are crazy. We're not. If any coach or player out there is dumb enough to think they don't want to be here so be it.

If we are being honest it's one of the most stupidest things that peeps on here state. If a player or coach chooses to leave where they are now we are definitely a great option if we offering the right money. We get to choose the money that we offer though. We don't have to chase players because we already have a good team.

If you think we should cry and sook and state how bad we are so be it. I'm not joining the pity party. We are a great club with a really good team and we can have some really good seasons of footy on the field as well.

More excuses. I posted a while back the cuban wrestlings teams gym. It was terrible. Didn't stop them from being absolute guns though.

I don't think that you get sport. It's not about having the best training facilities. It's about having a group of players who are good enough to win a lot of games and performing to that level consistently throughout the season. Then you have to turn it on in the finals.

We have a group of players that can make the finals. Yes we have a few holes in our squad but so does every team.

I don't think that you get sport. It's not about having the best training facilities. It's about having a group of players who are good enough to win a lot of games and performing to that level consistently throughout the season. Then you have to turn it on in the finals.

Stop making this about the coach. Once he goes we will attract another 2nd chancer or a rookie coach out to prove themselves. This won't change steve because we just have no money.
Please tell me your elaborate plan to attract a million dollar coach.

He bagged past coaches and past Tigers teams.

We need to see it this year.

And we will, or he will be gone. There is no reason we cannot make the 8 next year. We have a group of talented young kids who can turn it on, and they showed last year they can go the 80 and put in a solid effort defensively.

They need to put it all together now. JT's had two years, it's time to make good on the faith invested in him by the club.

That's what is pleasing me most about 2017.

Coach has 1 more year to go and based on everything - roster, previous seasons, development, coach plans, club plans, finishing 9th 2016 etc. - it means we need to make the finals. And that is already the generalised measuring stick for a season for clubs and fans.

So we either succeed or fail on a level anyone can agree with. And if not, I would expect JT does not get a new contract. So all the fans can agree on how to measure the season and what needs to happen if there is failure.

yup thats why the broncos, melbourne, dogs and chooks compete every year or other year

The key to us being a force is defence and the guys who have been missing tackles and getting physically dominated are still running round with us and have been for a few years. Maybe there will be some improvement in that area this year as a few the younger players might start to improve but the way I see it till we beef up our roster with some real hard forwards we will continue to struggle

Who said I was talking about the coach. I definitely wasn't. I was talking about this club having everything going for it. I don't even see the coach as a problem for next year.

Sorry for not being so doom and gloom about this club. I definitely don't want a million dollar coach. I think that would be a waste of money.

I completely agree. The only thing that should stuff us making the 8 and hopefully firing at that point is injuries to key players.

None of this is a criticism of the coach at all. It's just that we should be having a good year next year based on the team that we have.

I said this before and I'll restate it. I think we've seen enough of JT to state that he isn't the right person for the job. I'd be getting rid of him next year no matter what.

That isn't stating that a new coach will definitely be a better option than Taylor. It's just stating that the right approach now is to try a different coach based on how he has performed.

I still think that Taylor or any other coach can coach us to a really good season next year and in subsequent seasons.

100% agree. The big concern without a guaranteed alternative if JT is a factor in their decision to stay or go - leaves other clubs in a much better position to lure them.

(hypothetically) You would hope that if they were going to leave because of JT that they would communicate that to the club before signing elsewhere. However can we afford to or not to allow players to dictate such terms to the club.

Because apparently RF and BM did that and subsequently copped the ire from the media and the fans.

Based on his performance over the last two seasons. He has made too many mistakes. I see it as two seasons of massive underperformance with no real excuses.

I just think he has been given a fair go and he hasn't done a good enough job.
