Moltzen is SPECIAL…..

but I think the 9761 combo would look unbeatable with farah9 orford7 marshal6 and moltzen1 if moltzen pays 7 which he is very capable whos our one please dont sa ote mullaney should be special later but not in 2010

Im telling you now, we have a side that can win the comp next year, but not until they fix the halfback position, and i dont believe moltzen is up to it,,he can't kick, a little gun shy running the ball, and i dont think he is a leader, or organizer, all the qualities of a good half, just look at the likes of,thurston.prince, cronk, pearce, orford ,stacey jones,kimmorley..all great specialist halfbacks,.

OK guys ,now give it to me..

I think you are wrong, and I hope Moltz gets the chance to prove a lot of people wrong he will carve up next season.
Also I think we have a cracking line up for next year cant wait!

Oh i see snowy, your first cab off the rank, what do you mean by saying,"I THINK your wrong, and he will carve up ??

I think with enough experience Moltzen could become a great halfback, the difference in the team last year when he started playing there was phenomenal, a lot of this had to do with the pressure of having to do everything and win games singlehandedly was taken off marshall and he was allowed to play more of his own game, with more room to move. His kicking game will improve with time and practice as well, as will Benji's

Were trying to win a comp arn't we, i dont think you can experiment with a halfback to see if he's going to be any good or not, he should already have a kicking game, he played his junior footy as a half.Sure we won games with moltzen at half, but we didn't win them just because he was the half ..

I have a lot of faith in moltzen but I think by keeping him at 1 he can have a jarryd hane type influence on this team by chiming in at special times this would just add to his potency.

I didn't say that we won games just because he played there, his playing there settled the whole team and allowed them to play to their potential. We failed to dominate in the forwards for the majority of the season, halfbacks are made to look good with good forward packs dominating defences, this gives them time to better do their job. I think we can go very close to winning the competition with him at half, pearce was inexperienced a couple of years ago also.

Didn't Moltzen play halfback for Aust Schoolboys? I thought he was good at halfback - gave the team a lot more balance and worked well with Marshall.

bring on Lima in 2011\. we now really know that deep down he wants to come back. stay tuned folks. and for us who dont live in melbourne spare a thought for Jeff Lima, so cold and so lonely. The light will always be on Mr. Lima.

Yeah forget Lima for now….....this is about Moltzen

He does have a kicking game but Sheens has Farah and Benji as the 1 and 2 kickers …..even when Bomber was in the halves he was 3rd string....which one should Sheensy take it off......I watched him kick the thing many a mile in for BRET in' 07 and '08 in the 20's......

a little gun shy running the ball

Maybe that appears that way from fullback....then again we have Tank on 1 wing and the elusive(ok at the back end) Ryan on the other.....

He wasn't gun shy against the Raiders or the Cowgirls and Soufs......from halfback.....

correct me if I am wrong, but I think he partnered Lazarus in the halves in the Schoolboys team and utterly annihilated who ever the played

EDIT:

it was Lawrence

and they only just won
But moltzen won it for them

Junior Kangaroos 15 (M Jennings, S Walker, T Williams tries; C Lawrence goal; T Moltzen field goal) def Fiji 14 on October 5, 2007 in Suva

Better not mention Tonga or the Jnr Kiwis though….....

It was 06 that carved up.....http://www.ourfootyteam.com/assrl_tour06.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Check out that team......feat....C Lawrence...W Mataka and P Tagive........

Tomcat is right….........Moltzen isnt an ideal halfback. He's best position is 6\. However, Tomcat, the thing u aren't getting your head around is that we have a very unique structure with a dominant 9 who loves to get into first receiver (and do his best work there), and a 6 who is actually the man doing the organising, and also likes getting into first receiver. So with these two players there, the man wearing the 7 actually needs to more of a 5/8 than a halfback. He needs to be someone who can take a back seat when needed, but also take the pressure off at the right time from either first or 2nd receiver. Moltzen and Tuamata are perfectly suited to play this role along side Robbie and Benji. I think we may notice the lack of a genuine half if Benj or Rob get injured, but u cant go a buy a 350k halfback just in case of injuries.

The club isn't interested in Orford, we're well covered in the halves anyway.

One up and comer who hasn't proven to be a long term halfback and one who plays a similar role as Benji and has only played a few first grade games and is yet to prove himself… along side Benji who has a maximum of 5 good games a year... covered in the halves?

Tomcat is wrong…..You are right,,...Thuston and Prince where 6's at the same stage of their Career as Moltzen is now.....Halves interchange now anyways....I think he would be a better 6 in a different team structure than ours...but are you going to take the NUMBER 6 of Benji.....no way......

Sheens has Robbie and Benji as the focal point of the team.....He's been building the team around them for 3 years........Moltzen compliments them both with the NUMBER 7 on his back....
